Which is why I go to a mechanic my dad knows very well that works next to an Vehicle Inspection station and tell them specifically what I need done, never been scammed yet and always had the problem fixed.
Just remember these are the same people you're sharing the highway with going 80mph in the opposite direction.

I love how these range from honest mistakes/ignorance to me questioning how this person even passed their driving test.

Some of these cars make me question how the driver even survives just going about their day. Like how do they not just accidentally step in front of traffic or electrocute themselves plugging in their toaster.

We did a similar thing to our lead man.
We got one of those massive zip ties and put it on the drive line if his work van.
We trimmed it up so it would hit the floor pan but couldn't see it from just looking.
Drove him nuts.
Later we pushed his driver's seat slightly forward to an uncomfortable position and remove the power seat fuse.
We have a million of them.😏

Ive driven without a heater many times, a good coat and some gloves takes care of that ,this guy is a idiot, if i had been that shop owner i would have had him committed right away.

Y'know, we complain in my country that we have to get our car inspected yearly, but after watching a couple of these videos, I'm glad that's mandatory.
What country is that because the vast majority of the US doesn’t require inspections. I live in PA so we require yearly inspections and emissions and I figured every state did but apparently only like 15 or so do. The other 30 something it’s the Wild West out there on the highway.
@@johnmorris8444 Belgium, but afaik most European countries have these inspections. Some on more regular intervals than others (I think in France it's only every 3 years, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) and how critical the inspectors are in their inspecting also differs a lot between countries (once again looking at you France with your cars with only one headlight).
Most people here complain about these inspections, because they're about €40 nowadays and they can blow up small problems to failing the inspection (like angle of your headlights), but seeing some of the stuff in this video? Hooboyhowdy. There's cars in this video that would have three pages of things to fix before even attempting a re-inspection.

@@johnmorris8444 In Germany, TÜV inspections are mandatory every 2 years. Frankly, some of these cars look like they were from a 3rd world country and are way beyond repair, what the heck?

It’s testament to the brilliance behind the design of these precision machines that they still manage to operate in such states of disrepair.
The Titanic sank because it had 1 more compartment filled with water than was allowed, but it still went "nah I'm dragging this out" and stayed afloat another 2 & 1/2+ hours

true story, a friend was out at range, zeroing his .30-06 at 100m. well he was kinda crouching down on ground screwing on scope bracket. by about 4th hex key rotation he slipped and dropped the rifle, his shoe where big toe was touched the trigger. BANG. he shot his tire immediately next to him. hit in the order; tire, driveshaft , brake line bracket, and bullet went out of passenger door's bottom threshold. he was yelled then by his wife. who kept scolding him" always clear the damn chamber and safety on" edit: he then mentioned unholy amount of dust lingering and floating, gotta love texas dust

As a fellow IT professional, the most common issues I encounter are the ID-10-T error and the CTK (Chair-To-Keyboard) error.

After viewing this, I now understand the value of once-a-year vehicle inspections by qualified mechanics. There are some vehicles out there in very scary, unsafe condition. My current vehicle is 20 years old, but still passes inspection while almost NONE of these vehicles in the video even come close.
On the other hand, it is nice when it only takes 5 seconds of "fix" a customer problem, like the warm A/C or door latch. :)
We have those where I live. I’ll get a passing inspection on every single one of these. It’s a pointless waste of my time and does nothing but generate money for government.

@@blueoval250 It reduces the amount of risks by a lot, if we didn't have inspections only car heads or people with car guys in the family will have good condition vehicles, everyone else would just let their cars go to shit which would greatly increase car prices to insane amounts, you think 16k for the cheapest sedan brand new is expensive? Do away with inspections and good luck with getting a brand new car at 60-70k minimum

Im actually wondering if its my mums kia carnival 🤣 her man bought her a new car, but then said they needed it (he cant drive) every time she booked it for a service, 45,000km on the same oil 😑 i said "why didnt you damn well say something? I can change the oil and filter after work, you live 5 minutes from work" mum said "no no its his responsibility, he bought it, he can pay to fix it, i wanted to keep the toyota" (she had a 1985 toyota lite ace with 1.5m km on it before, her man scrapped it because it needed a steering rack and a radiator on the same workshop visit.. Like idk 800 bucks to fix the liteace that has been reliable for 40 years... Nope, buys $30k kia and then doesnt spend any money on it 😑
5:13 is a huge problem in just about every inch of gaurd rail in our country. There is a guy here on CZcams who has made it his life mission to document as many as out of code guard rails as he can find because his daughter died like this and he wants to spread awareness.

These videos amaze me. Over here, we have a compulsory six-monthly Warrant Of Fitness test that ALL vehicles MUST pass before they are deemed street legal.
99% of all these videos showing mechanical or serious rust issues, would have been rejected LONG before the state they are in now. If it is a structural issue, you have to take the vehicle to a certified panel-beater for the repair - structural WOF failures, you CANNOT just repair yourself, cos it has to be done by someone who knows how to fix a structural issue. Most of these vehicles are what I would classify as death-traps. I'm amazed there are not WAY more road deaths over there, cos you don't seem to have any kind of WOF testing at all. Amazing.
I still can get over the kitten still being alive in the one vehicle. The one with Racoon, I sorta can see, raccoons are tough mf and stubborn too, they won't go down easy but a kitten? I wonder how many of its 9 lives it used up on that run.

@Cancer & Tourmaline I once tried to drive home from a roadtrip with a bad stomach bug. I was 20 minutes from home after lasting 6 hours, when I threw up all ove4 the windshield. I tried cleaning it, but there was just so much it just smeared. I call my parents to come get me. Since I had an undercoat appointment the next day, so my dad dropped it off at the shop with no note or anything. When I was finally well enough to go get it, I apologized profusely. They fortunately seemed amused, but still awful they had to interact with my poor car I that condition.

If people can help it (ignoring the whole vomiting thing) we should try to make sure the vehicle is at least clean of things we can pick up ourselves. That's all.

The DCT has more issues than any other model, interior quality is terrible he top is possibly more unreliable than the convertible F355, suspensions is horrible far too soft but jarring over bumps shall i continue? A trashed Cali is nothing to be sad about

24 year old Subaru Impreza. Bought it at 136k miles 4 years ago (I'm the fourth owner, head gaskets already done), and I'm up to 166k miles on it. All work since I purchased, has been done at my friends shop, and it runs beautifully. It pays to have a professional take care of your daily driver.
Fair enough 😂 in the UK we have MOTs which stop drivers from driving cars that are considered a danger to other people on the road, surface rust is fine, but a rusted through frame or unibody will give you a whole world of hurt, makes me glad we have them to stop dangerous repairs like some in the video

The guardrail one brought tears to my eyes. Once I got a little cocky driving up the mountain on a snowy, wet night & skimmed (ok, more than skimmed) the rail & was rewarded with messed up paint, dents, & a door that no longer opened. Can't imagine what this person did. Holy smoke.

I gained one of my current cats because it was found by my wife in the garage after she had visited a relative in an adjacent state.
The kitten had found its way underneath the engine on top of the skid plate. She drove all the way home with it there.
She heard Mews and quickly discovered the kitten.
She had burnt whiskers, and burnt pads on her paws from the engine heat.
We still have her hand she is the sweetest cat ever.
Poor thing. Yeah I pretty much would have had to adopt her, after doing that to her. I know it was an accident, but I still would have felt terrible.

The odd thing is in a lot of states you only have to do that with newer cars. Older cars are exempt. So I think it's more of a money issue.

Back in 97 a father purchased a vehicle for his older kid, the kid installed the radio from the positive plug of the electronic breaks, I was standing by my vehicle with my then little boy, 10 seconds after I walked away the little snot was burning tires in the parking lot couldn't stop , and took out 7 cars including mine... he'd had killed us if I delayed for seconds ...and that's why i feel some type of way about irresponsible ppl like that...

The overpressure tires reminds me of the tale I've shared before about the old lady that came to the station once where my brother worked cause her usual station was closed. Said they were so nice, always checked the tires - 100 psi. My brother dropped the pressure to normal and just told her "I don't care where you go from now on, just DO NOT go there again."

Discount Tire always do that to my 4 tires. Go in for free rotation, they keep overinflating the tires by 20 psi. I always had to manually bleed the air out.
