Night Circus would be epic as a film! Even as a TV show they could really do a lot with it.

+Miss Cult same. I love the raven cycle so much, nobody should even dare trying to make a movie out of it. Even if they would make it good, it could never be right. This series don't need any adaptation.

Ready Player One is being made by Speilberg actaully (so you know it's going to be good.) Should be out either next year or year after

I feel like they might not be able to fulfill the stories as far as effects or sci-fi scripting and would ruin the books for me.

Good call on Steelheart! It would be fantastic as a TV show or movie. I can't wait for calamity to come out next year, so we can find out how it ends. I think the Unwind Dystology would actually make a really good movie series that would most likely be really successful.

Ever since I was younger when the Uglies series came out, I've wanted it to be a movie. Seriously, by how popular it is I'm surprised it isn't one yet.

For me, I would love to see a The Darkest Minds TV show - or The Lunar Chronicles (though it's been slated as a movie, I think) - oh, and it would be SO GREAT to see All the Light We Cannot See as a movie. Or maybe one of Rainbow Rowell's books.
This reminded me that my favorite book called Meg by Steve Alten is finally being made into a movie and i'm so excited :D

I was nodding along furiously at every single one of your suggestions - and then actually squealed out loud at Uprooted! Just finished the audiobook and it's such perfect movie material. No idea who to cast at the Dragon, but I'd so watch that over and over again.
The Mara Dyer series!!! I'm not sure how good it would be but i love that series and i'd love to see it on screens!

to me, Vicious (v.e. schawb) reads as a series of episodes, one episode for each timeline jump. I'd love a t.v./Netflix series or a big screen adaptation.

They actually are in talks for Steelheart! (but I think Sanderson should be involved to make sure it's faithful) I'm really glad you mentioned that book :) with the mention of Ready Player One, there's an anime called Sword Art Online that has a very similar seeing to that book without the 80's references but still do good

My number one has always been (and probably will be for a very long time) "The Lunar Chronicles". It would make such an incredible movie series that I actually get genuinely mad that it hasn't happened already.

Dividers by Libba bray would make an amazing t.v series. It has enough suspense to keep audiences enthralled, and fun setting to get people interested!

Totally agree about Uprooted. :) The Secret History by Donna Tart would make SUCH a good movie! Also Ancillary Justice by Anne Leckie would be an awesome sci-fi. And I'm at a loss as to why Good Omens hasn't been turned into a tv show or film yet!

I read Cell by Stephen King a few years ago and I loved it and I always thought it would be a great movie, and it's actually being turned into a movie and I'm so excited!
I'm intrigued by Steelheart now, though we need more books told by the perspectives of villain/morally grey characters. :)
Some I'd love to see on screen are Bird Box, Daughter of Smoke & Bone, The Girl With All the Gifts, Mistborn...I'd also love to see an anime of Saga and Chew.

I really want Angelfall to be turned into a movie. It's one of my favorite series, and the main character it's such a badass.
The biggest one for me right now is the Confessions series by James Patterson. I feel like it would make a really great TV show with all of the twists and turns in the plot

Our town library had this event for a while where if you read a book on a selected shelf, and write a review when you are done, you get prizes. Anyways, i read this book called 'Earth Girl' and it sounds like something that you would really like. Just sayin.

Anyway, I've been saying this a lot, but if Emma Watson plays Kelsea, I'm honestly going to be pretty upset because it will just erase the entire struggle Kelsea has over her body image. I'm really sick of how Hollywood needs to make every character excessively thin and attractive....that's not how Kelsea is portrayed in the book at all. Also I really don't see how the changes in appearance that Kelsea goes through in book two are going to translate in film???
I don't know. I have really mixed feelings about this movie series. And I actually think it would be better as a tv show because there's no way to fit everything that happens into a single film. There are so many side characters that pop up every now and then in the books that could totally be given full character arcs if it were turned into a tv show.

I entirely agree with ready player one being made into a stand alone film. I believe I heard rumours of Spielberg picking it up or being interested. I'd love to see how they work with the main characters story out of the virtual world. Also Ernest Cline's other novel Armada I believe has already been picked up by someone.

Spielberg is directing it and it's already in production. Armada was picked up by a studio before it was even released (Cline was a screewriter before writing novels), but there's nothing to it yet

I so agree that Uprooted should be put on the big screen!!! I loved that book. The only thing I would worry about if it was a live-action is the amount of CGI they would have to use for the magic. But it could be an absolutely beautiful animated film!
I'd love to see J.K. Rowling's (or Robert Galbraith's) Cormoran Strike series in film form. I think they'd be hugely successful creepy mystery-thrillers. I also really, really, REALLY want The Golem and the Jinni to be made into a movie. It's one of my favorite books, and I think it could be a super beautiful film. But the story is kind of slow-paced and atmospheric rather than super action-packed, so it probably will never happen :(
Also, I read something a while back that reported that The Bone Season was going to be made into a movie. I think if it's done well, it'll be really good!

I'd LOVE for The Raven Cycle to be a netflix series or something. I really want the book Wool to be a movie (there were hints that it would be with Ridley Scott being a part of it, but idk if it's happening anymore /cries). No one ever seems to have heard of it, but I would kill to see Heir Apparent by Vivian Vande Velde turned into a movie.
A Court of Thorns and Roses I think would be good, A Discovery of Withes and the other two books in The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. Agree about Night Circus with tubaforeva.

In Paullina Simons most recent blog post from last month, she said that she's signed with Getaway Pictures for the movie adaptations of the series. Hopefully it'll be one of the ones that actually make it into production. She's also aware of--and seems to love--the Henry Cavill suggestion and since she'll be working with the people making the movie, I'm hesitantly holding out hope that he might be considered (assuming he would want the part). =P
A lot of the books I'd love as movies/TV shows are already in the works/have the movie rights sold. I'd love a mini-series adaptation of The Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta though. And a movie adaptation of The Strange & Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender (if they could give it a Practical Magic kind of feel).
