"Please, please try to understand before one of us dies!" :D I love watching the interviews with Andrew Sachs (the actor who played Manuel so perfectly), because he's so the exact opposite of Manuel in manner and voice-- very, very articulate, posh-sounding Brit actor, which just goes to show you how talented he was that he so completely changed to become this character so very different from the man you'd see on the street (and apparently he actually liked being anonymous and not recognized on the streets even at the peak of Fawlty Towers' popularity-- gave him some nice quiet anonymity in his down-time from a long-week of shooting!)

Andreas Siegfried Sachs, geb. 7.

After dealing with actual spanish waiters you realize how unrealistics this was .. They are usually hot tempered and dont take shit from anyone, specially a guiri or foreigner. You dont even need to get physical, whenever they feel disrespected in the slightest they either ignore you, insult you or punch you in the face. But this kind of spineless behaviour is unheard of amongst them. I guess the actor was not even spanish, otherwise he would know of this cultural nuance.
