  • Less than two hours east of Zagreb lies a fabulous healthy foodie destination, arguably the greenest town in Croatia - the spa town of Daruvar is superb on so many levels.
A 2-day foodie tour of Daruvar and the excellent 6 Elements project shows a surprising depth and innovation to the cuisine, washed down with the excellent local wines and beers from the Daruvar brewery.
A town of trees, trees, trees - including European Tree of the Year in 2019 - where the population is 20% Czech, hot water for tea comes direct from the ground, try the best burek in Croatia, and outdoor midnight swims in thermal pools are par for the course in late October.

Daruvar was voted the most beautiful small town in Croatia. And it really shows why

According to UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation) town of Slunj was voted just recently as the Best Tourist Village in the World.
Never mind that Slunj is technically actually a city, and not a village.
So yeah, lots of nice little place in Croatia.

You are right, some Croatian restaurants just drop a hunk of meat in front of you, medieval style 😆 They should come to Daruvar to learn about the presentation:)
