i was born in north nazimabad block H ,one of the best area for living in karachi, we lived here since 1971 to 1997.

Before the independence of Pakistan, the area of the present day North Nazimabad was semi-arid land with small Sindhi and Kalmati Baloch villages nearly 15 km from downtown Karachi. The Government of Pakistan bought the land in 1950 from the local landlord and tribal leader Masti Brohi Khan in order to resettle the Muslim refugees from India that were living in tent cities in central Karachi. This suburb developed as KDA Scheme no. 2 was named after Khawaja Nazimuddin who was the second Governor-General of Pakistan and later the second Prime Minister of Pakistan as well. In late 1958, the northern area of Nazimabad, was to be developed as KDA Scheme 2' a.k.a. Timuria by Karachi Improvement Trust (KIT). North Nazimabad was originally established in 1958, with Karachi Improvement Trust (KIT) starting that housing scheme. The land was purchased by Pakistan Public Works Department from Sardar Masti Brohi Khan. The name North Nazimabad became popular and was later adopted instead of Timuria. Taimooria or Timuria was named after Amir Timur the progenitor of Mughal Empire of South Asia. North Nazimabad was developed as a residential area for federal government employees.

Block H here. My family lived there in 1960-70-80-90’s. Educated, refined families, gradually moved out and now it’s not what it used to be. My heart saddens for NND.

Mullah Ahmed Halwa'ee Block A across from Hajra Masjid (As a matter of fact he is the one who build the mosque Hajra on the 1000 Yd plot owned by him).
Nawab of Lesbela State of Baluchistan used to live in Block B
Dawoodi Bohra community members were the early settlers in in areas in N. Nazimabad known as Barkat-e-Haidery in early 1951. These settlers were migrants from the various parts India. The community inhabited the area and took deep interest in the development. Some of these institutions include (but are not limited to) Sify Politecque Institute, Burhani Hospital (near KDA round about), etc. all funded by the community. The interviewer and the interviewee forgot to establishment the historical facts.
Saifuddin Takhtawala Sahab indeed we can never forget what Bohra community did for North Nazimabad. My Family settle in North Nazimabad Block A in 1961when there were No roads, No buses, no Rickshaw nothing but Cactus, Girgets and Sandas and this Shaif Ullah Ismail guy was in his diapers. But one thing was there for sure when we will get sick as kids “ SUGRAH BAI MILL’ WALA HOSPITAL” In block F (Now Burhani Hospital), our mother will take us to Sugrah Bai Milwala hospital timing were from 12 PM till 4 PM they used to have only one female doctor and one compounder and the only fee we used to pay was Rs 1.00.

From 1986 to 1998 that time was no job no new opportunities in Karachi and law and order suitvation was very dengirious so people of Karachi leaved Pakistan
Dr: Ajaz Fatima and her husband Dr Tajamul Hussain (Late) her son Dr. Asim Hussain (Owners of Ziauddin Hospitals) and minister under PPP gov they used to live in Block A, 4th house from our house D-19 Block A . As a matter of fact whenever Dr. Asim Hussain or his sister Sabina come to USA they stay at my sister home in Cincinnati, OHIO. Sabina is my sister best friend.

Shahriyar Khan North Nazimabad was planned and designed in the late 1950s by calramos Scarpa & Aldo Rossi, the Italian planners and architects.

Farhat Khan no MQM was created by Goher Ayyub Pahatans (For not supporting Ayuub Khan but Mohaterma Fatima Jinnah in 1964 elections) and Z.A.Bhutto Sindhi's uneducated ministers. You probably don't remember but Burning Mohajers Abbadis at Gujjar Nala Nazimabad in 1965 and than using live bombs to destory Lalu Khate Mohajers during Urdu riot ( As per famous poet Rais Amrohi "URDU KAA JANAZA HAY ZARA DHOOM SAY NIKLAY"
