- Taryl gets asked all the time what brand Tachometer he uses. Well here it is. It's an Oppama brand tachometer that can cover 1-8 cylinders on 2 and 4 cycle engines. Hope this information helps you on your tach journey. And There's Your Dinner!!

Thanks Taryl. I have learned a lot from you and have tackled a few jobs I wouldn't have otherwise.
You weren’t joking on them being pricey. About $125.00 on the ol’ inter webs.
That’s not very expensive
Should have made these videos before Christmas. Could of ask Santa for some stocking stuffers 😂😂❤
Thanks for the info Taryl 🙂👊
Nice to know it has accommodations for eight cylinders .. that way you'll know how many RPMs each cylinder is turning ..and it should be able to tach the RPMs on a can of V8 vegetable juice
🤣👍
I'm pretty sure each cylinder will be the exact same RPM!
I like you Taryl have an Oppama… been using it for years!! Great to have!!!!
Excellent short Taryl .I've been curious about other tools you use ,like that spark checker .
I never used to use the plug in the antenna lead, now I use it every time and wrap it around the spark plug wire. It makes the reading rock solid versus using the tach with no wire plugged in. Oppama/Echo is a great product! Thanks Taryl!
I have the newer Echo one they have now, works pretty nice. I use it for chainsaws a lot to set idle speed and high speed
I’ve already got one but it’s sometimes kinda sketchy on reading RPM. It’ll hunt around before it actually produces a reading and it depends a lot on the engine and where you hold the tach. I’ve had Taryl’s on my wish list for over a year so when I can afford a decent one that’s what I’ll be getting. I’d also like to be able to set it down and hook up directly so I can read it while holding the handle of a chainsaw with one hand and alternating between the throttle and adjustment tool with the other. It would certainly make tuning a chainsaw a lot easier and faster. 👍🔧
How much did you pay for
The $10 ones that you wrap a wire around the plug lead go pretty well for chainsaw tuning, super cheap, super common, pretty accurate, have tested against a much more expensive one and came in within 50 rpm
Thanks for the quick review on the tachometer I need to get one and I am actually one of the Grass Rats wondering what tachometer you are using now I know thanks again Taryl.
I'm waitin' for the day I'll just wake up rich and be able to buy all these fancy tools.
Just buy stuff over time. Use the skills you have/learn and find broken stuff, fix and flip it and/or fix stuff for people, then you can buy a new tool!
I was wondering too, good to know,, a tip-top tuner-upper. Thanks 👍
Thanks 👍🏻
It's a lot easier than using a high speed camera then isolating 1 minute of video running it at 1/4 speed and counting the revolutions.
OPPAMA also makes the PET-1000R Without some of those buttons & options. Do you know if the Archer 15344 is the same? It looks like it but I hear the battery is soldered in.
I bought the same in 1985. Available on net. Great little tool.
Do you still have it from ‘85 and it’s working? Impressive. I see the new ones you can’t replace the battery. Maybe that’s the same as yours?
@80SWoods mine has a coin cell. Remove 4 screws. They last about 10 years. Also came with a lead to clip to a plug cap for remote use. Cost me £75 back in the 80's!
@@SoddingaboutSi Ahh, that makes sense. I haven’t gotten mine in the mail yet, but I bet you can snap it apart with a pocket screwdriver to replace the battery some day if they no longer have screws to access the inside. They claim 20,000 hours of use, but I suspect that the battery will be leaking acid long before I would even use 100 hours of use.
@@80SWoods you can always replace the battery, it just depends how much you want to!!
@@bushratbeachbum My brand new Oppama tach came in the mail. There are tiny screws on the back and when I took them out, there is a small watch battery inside. It is replaceable.
cool staff ......
I'm interested in that spark tester, this is cool too
I have a few that work well
Lisle 20610 its a neon bulb that lights up
it will tell you if you have spark but its just a bulb lighting up so it it only tells you if you have spark, not how intense the spark is
the other i have is an Oregon 42-087
the spark has to jump a gap in the contact, if that spark is weak its more yellow a good hot spark is blue you both can both on Amazon
pretty cheap hope this helps you
I think they should be o his online store
Nice
Oppama pet 1000 or 1100 (r) $110-300 depending where you shop. Awesome tool.
You can get an induction tach for $10 if it's out of your budget and they work well. My ones have a wire you wrap around the plug lead, plenty accurate if you use the right number of wraps for the number of cylinders
Thanks it read Obama LOL
I want one too
Can you share the link for the handheld tachometer ?
Yeah I need that
I bought one, and it keeps me from setting my buddies rpm too high and makes sure they get all the power out of them too
Thanks you 👌👍
Right on 👍
The internal battery is not replaceable. OEM specs says the battery life is 20,000 hours. But I won’t use it non-stop or even daily where I’d run the battery out. Anyone know how long it will last, mostly sitting unused in my toolbox?
There's your dinner Taryl!!!
eBay has them around 150 dollars. "OPPAMA PET-1100"
How much is pricey
Thank you for letting me know that machine is very expensive so much $300❤
Taryl do you inventory this tack-o- meter
Taryl, can you give us grass rats a link to where we can obtain this tach please? I can come pretty close by sound because I have perfect pitch but if I’m doing a generator I’d like to be as accurate as I can.
Nice but I love my Stihl tach, nice and small
So no worky diesel?
Wonder if that will work accurately on a six volt positive ground system?
that shouldn't effect it, it reads the pulses in the spark plug wire
I need to set my idle down on my 2 stroke Detroit diesel 471 will it work as you know diesel aint got no spark
Stihl make a awesome one
Echo has a newer version of that i think
What about wasted spark systems???
Where's slippers ?
It's a form of black majic
Reminds me of Adam Sandler
Are you doing my friends
how about you buy a bunch and put on your website and us grassrats can purchase from you.. after you pass along the savings. thanks
Link ? Where to buy one ?
We tagged the product in the info
@@TarylFixesAll Unfortunately, simply searching for Oppama is not sufficient, and the only one I found was on the India Amazon site.
And theres your Dinner 🍔🍔
Not too pricey
Way better than the stilch
