the reason the board was structured like this was to prevent companies from stick their noses where it doesn't belong but sadly it seems egos went unchecked and ruined everything.
Correction: the board had 6 people in it and 4 members voted to remove Sam Altman.

Altman was ousted, Brockman resigned in protest.
For 5 days things changed often hour to hour, there were rumors (even in Washington Post) about the situation - some still not verified.
Good for those workers for collectivizing on their needs.

In general I like your vids, but it seems like you haven't got this right. Try to search and understand the safety concerns of the previous board on this technology, then things will make much more sense. And, I believe whatever happened, happened for the good. Now it will be way more focus on creating a safe AGI "for the good of the humanity".

This toxic backstabbing and double dealing happens every day in academia.
Part of the info in this video is incorrect, the board actually had 6 peoples and included Sam and Brockman. After the firing only the four board members that voted to fire Altman remained.

The board structure wasn't the main problem in this case. It was lack of integrity, incompetence, and severe conflicts of interest.

@@NewMoneyCZcams A tender offer of ~80 billion was rescinded when Altman was fired. ~10 billion in Microsoft funding was compromised, as well. The board lied about why they fired him, because they basically accused him of lying to them, without proof. Then backtracked on it. So, they fired him without providing a good reason, slandered him in the process and cost the company billions on paper. The US Attorney's office started sniffing around, because when a company loses (even potentially) 90+ billion it smells bad. Former OpenAI board member McCauley is CEO of Fellow Robots. ChatGPT is a direct competitor to several of Fellow Robots' offerings and services. Former board member Toner assisted CSET/NCC (China's state cybersecurity and technology department) and provided critical analysis to them, encouraging faster AI development (for China). At OpenAI she was doing the opposite and trying to slow them (and Western AI development) down. This is all in the public domain.
I think you almost completely ignored the power grab by Microsoft. The company is supposed to benefit all of humanity but Microsoft seems to increasingly become the biggest beneficiary.

OpenAi can't be non profit they have to make money for the huge need of GPU and cloud to just begin with. That's were Microsoft come into picture

Communication problems sounds a lot like Sam discovered something new and did not share his findings with everyone.
So much of this video is emphasizing how crazy it was that the board was only 4 people. But it wasn't, it was 6 people. It's just that 4 out of 6 is the majority vote.

It sounds like the board discovered something about Sam that would be negative for the company if became public. Perhaps they're under a legal gag order and their actions aren't so crazy.
