    Exciting feeding tube story!
    My church had a big Easter event the other week and more than a thousand children showed up. One of the woman from my church and her teenage daughter (a tubie!) were helping in the childcare area. A little girl came to the event and had a tracheotomy and the teenage girl showed the little girl her feeding tube. The little girl was so excited that someone else had a tube! These families bonded and shared their burdens with each other, and the mom from our church shared the source of her strength and hope. It started a whole conversation with the family of the little girl, and they ended up accepting Jesus right there!

    I really appreciate how you don’t shy away from the ‘embarrassing’ parts of chronic illness, like bowel problems- it’s really shouldn’t be anything that people feel they need to hide or be ashamed of & I’m sure you’re helping people realise that 😊 ...myself included, so thank you 😊

    My 4-year-old requires a feeding tube mainly because she aspirates even on pudding thick liquids. Our biggest issue was dehydration so when she got her tube since she wasn't very thin that was a judgment - well she must be okay she's not super skinny. Someone will see her eating dry Cheerios and act like well see she can he I must just not "get her to mind and eat her vegetables" or that well she can eat Cheerios or Pretzels so she's fine. People make comments about force feeding and starving her into compliance as if that's any way to treat anyone let alone a small child.

    • @elliemccarthy5672
      @elliemccarthy5672 Před 6 lety +5

      Some people are so ignorant. She may be able to eat, but that doesn't mean she can eat foods that have nutrients she needs and the fluids! You are doing what you know best for your daughter and that is what is important, not all the people who think they know everything and feel it is necessary to voice their opinions on the medical treatment of other people's kids.

      Agnes Christina I think that dogs are easier to bond with because they’re so pure of heart. They’re free of sarcasm and ridicule and they can read our emotions just as easily. The love we share with our pets is truly unconditional and that’s very hard to find these days.

    My son had failure to thrive when he was 15 months old and we investigated the feeding tube option with our feeding team at CHOP here in PA. You do you! I am so happy to see when you eat something. I know what it means and I agree, people who judge over things like this just don’t understand the whole concept. You’re such an inspiration to me. I found you several months ago when I was looking for my service dog prospect and your videos have always kept me going back because you’re always upbeat and smiling through all the pain/worry/illness. On the topic of feeding tube awareness... I've also seen comments on 'other' people's vids who are large, like I am, who have a feeding tube. YES! You CAN be overweight AND have malnutrition issues due to Ehlers-Danlos or other digestive issues. Bodies are strange things.

    I don't know if you'll see this comment, but I'm so appreciative of your videos right now. My dad is having heart issues and is suddenly about to get heart bypass surgery. I'm in the hospital with him, and because of your videos, I have some idea of what to expect (like hospitals don't move on the weekend!), and terminology like what MRSA is, as well as what different medications they're giving him can be used for and what side effects they often have. This isn't exactly a known chronic illness, but you've definitely helped spread awareness and education about hospitals/ER stuff. Thank you!

Every time I watch you actually get to enjoy some food I'm super happy for you. It's always in the back of my mind that I hope you get to keep it down so you can truly enjoy it. OMG...the food police are everywhere! They judge what you put in your grocery cart. They judge what you order at a restaurant. You eat too much or too little, according to the FP - they judge you. I'm amazed that these people have all this extra time on their hands, so they have to get all up in other peoples' business. Sigh.

  • @Scigeraptor
    @Scigeraptor Před 6 lety

    All my this regarding judgement based on what food you have. With my chronic illness, any and all 'healthy food' options are pretty much out the window with a few small exceptions. I tend to be oblivious if people don't like something about me (of which I'm starting to appreciate at times) and if anyone has tried to judge me for my food choices without knowing the story, I haven't noticed. Guess it's kind of a good thing. |D
    A friend of mine and I got into a conversation about food and as a sous chef, my diet bothers the living snot out of him since I pretty much can't eat anything interesting and what I /do/ take in tends to be processed as my diet is so limited. |D I hate taking in excessively processed foods as the more basic a food is, the better my gut processes it but I don't have much of a choice. I'm actively looking for other options whenever I can (I'm actually looking into the pretzel crisps you mentioned in the video - they might work for me!) but my options are so few that if I want any sort of variety, I still have to pick up some Cheeto Puffs to supplement my diet. I'd rather cut them out if I can, I actually was able to for a short time until the white cheddar cheese clouds stopped being stocked in my area. Sam's Club pls, start carrying them again!! ;_;
    Thanks again for bringing up such a topic. People really can't judge anything based on what appears to be since one person's medical story can be so vastly different from someone else with the same condition.

    I’m legally blind and I get judged for simple things like wearing my glasses, wearing makeup, dressing nicely, using a computer or smartphone or tablet to post CZcams comments... My point is that you should never have to worry about people judging you for anything you do. When they do give you a hard time for doing something, ask for their MD certificate.

    The thing I find disappointing is in many of her videos she’s very repetitive about many things. It’s not your fault at all Jaq, but I feel there are some things you just don’t need to explain. It’s your life! And I’m not sure if it’s the comments of negativity or others questioning her lifestyle? I don’t think I can count the amount of videos of why she explains certain days she can eat/not eat, why she doesn’t want to vlog when her and Judd Are going on dates, why she doesn’t pull out the camera during her doctor phone calls, or better yet people have commented about what’s their sex life?! HONESTLY?!
    People who are here to learn positive things and raise awareness about your personal issues and medical conditions that are catered to YOUR needs should be grateful! Yes this is her daily vlog it showcases her life! But, there shouldn’t be a constant reason as to why Jaq explains in videos whether she wants to keep certain things in her life private or not! You don’t want to be here and support her channel? Go somewhere else.

Its disappointing that if she repeats her info, that someone would feel the need to point it out (for no constructive reason). My parents are actually the ones that judge the most, which is why I have been having an issue with getting tested for pots. At this point though, I'm going to try to talk to my doctor alone and do this on my own. Anyway, good luck with everything! Love your videos❤️

    Glad to see my dog is not the only wiggly dog. Happy the grooming went well. You are such a pro with all your medical stuff. Can you share how you and your team decided on what to eat? Blessings.

      It has been making it a bit worse to the point where I am needing more naps during the day. But as long as I can sleep for some time with my N meds I am managing it okay

    Its always best to get an early appointment or first appointment of the day at the groomers, like you did :) This way the dog is sitting around waiting a lot less since they will be taken care of right when you bring them in. Even if your dog tolerates the groomer perfectly fine (like Harlow and Orion, and my three goldens), it is still a stressful environment for any dog.

    I'm so thankful you talked about this I have celiac and delayed digestion and I had passed my local GIs expertise which was fine so the sent me to uci I went to the gi there he didn't review any of my portfolio till he was in office with me so he spent an hour doing that I have been extremely constipated I tried laxatives the only thing I hadn't tried was milk of magnesia but I have low hopes for it since I feel like I have weeks worth of food backed up in me but I love to eat I feel guilty when I eat because I end up not feeling well when I do but I love food I also eat out of boredom so even if I do eat 2000 calories in junk food I'll only absorb maybe 1500 of it and this doctor was extremely uneducated on eds didn't bother to look it up just asked to see my hands I reluctantly handed my hand over to the gi and he starts pulling back on all of my fingers trying to get them to touch my wrist and so I yanked my hand aways and because I wasn't feeling good that day when he raised an eyebrow to continue and wanted to leave eds out of it I told him it's not how you test for eds and some people have different forms and severities he looked at me stunned then got mad and said well I guess you know better eds is part of the reason food and stuff doesn't go through smoothly and he completely ignored my concern with being so backed up that I might rupture because weeks before I even got it slightly under control I was literally doubled over in pain I couldn't get up because I would fall flat on face spread out and scream in agony as my stomach stretched out I feel like I get shamed being overweight and having go issues they say I could go with losing some weight well great a year ago I lost 50 lbs in 6 weeks they said it was water weight but I couldn't lift my arms past my shoulders and if I even tried to climb the stairs my legs would turn to jellow I lost 4 pant sizes in that time and everyone knew I had lost weight they tried things to help me keep water weight on to stay hydrated and the cramps I got where horrendous like it was pulling water out of my leg muscles and they where drying up and none of my gis are willing to help me the best go I've been to since thinks that I'm so backed up that when I eat the bile leaks into my stomach because it has no where else to go which rotted my tonsils and I've had to go to many doctors trying to figure out how to do the tonsillectomy as safe as possible and we finally have a plan down but it took a year I have been so stressed and overwhelmed with this and being shamed by doctors I had a doctor who told me " I have a patient with stage four stomach cancer next door who literally can't eat who is skin and bones where you are overweight and complaining your vomiting food give me a break and come back when you have a real issue" I left that office in tears but hearing you talk about made me realize I'm just different and I need to push through all of this to keep pushing

    Yea EnFit... I was promised that last year still not got it. The supplies we get now are fine I actually leave the white tip in the extension and attach to that. It's really frustrating when a company keeps promising things to you but does not deliver :( I understand the judgyness everyone has feeding tubes for very different reason my son is because he has to drink so much water for his kidney disease he never feels hungry. So in his case he can eat but has no desire. Its prob because your an adult or maybe I over think but it seems like a lot to bolus into a J, I don't claim to be an expert im opened to learn (pls dont judge :( I have no tube myself only the caretaker of one I learn more every day, 2 yrs 2 mos and counting) I know you know your body though (obviously there's going to be a range between an adult and a toddler im curious thought of what the range is). My issue for my son that we run into the most is people think he's on a leash (because hes 3) I just kinda laugh and explain it. Each experience I had was great (thank goodness). My sons tube saved his life! While I don't love it I am so glad these medical tools are in place to make his life better, yours and so many others. Keep on sharing everything good and bad!

  • @brendabrierebriere9406

    Jaquie, You don't have to explain yourself, we all know you and the ones that don't need to listen instead of passing judgement....

    Does Harlow have a specific action that signals to her that she's "off-duty", or at least allowed to relax a bit? I work in a vet clinic which sees several Guide Dogs and they understand their harness coming off as the signal for them being allowed to get excited and accept pets and have a treat. x
