I tried on an A-line hunter green satin halter neck dress. Felt like a princess in it, but my coworker didn't like it on me as much as I did so she convinced me to try on a mulberry colored dress with bandage style gathers. She said I looked like a Grecian goddess in it, but I didn't like it one bit, not the color, not the style, not one single thing. I didn't have that feeling of "I'm a princess, this is my dress" in it the way I did in the hunter green one and I told her so. She wasn't too happy about my not going with her pick, but oh well...I went with what I felt. I'm so glad I did.

He just didnÂŽt listen. She said simple and elegant. Then she added the 20ÂŽs look, but many people just use that term to say "vintage" or "clasic". She also said "I want to feel like a grown woman, not like a child playing dressing up" Yes, the first dress may be considered a 20ÂŽs style, but wasnÂŽt simple at all, also didnÂŽt accentuate her curves, which was what she was looking for. She obviously wanted clean lines and little bling.

Dress #1 is anything but boring with all that beading. It's definitely more glamorous than simple. But it is of the era she asked for. It overwhelmed her, so I get the no. How can she call that dress boring or something you'd wear to a summer party?! Smh.

She is very petite and the samples are not showing her enough of what the dress looks like, because it requires substantial alteration. When she said that neckline was unflattering, all I could think was, yeah, well they are hanging off you dear and the bodice is bunching. This whole two size system is insane. People can even be the same size and look very different because of height, complexion personal style and so many other factors. This is a great example of how size inclusivity saves labour costs and generates sales.

I’m into the fashion business and deal with mostly customised outfits for brides. Trust me, we really really appreciate when the client knows her style, it helps us narrow down our designs. But when brides are very picky, 8/10 times it never turns out well. I am not always a fan of David E but I totally get what he means when he mentions picky and difficult. People will find it hard to believe but since we are used to dealing with brides one on one, we figure out the most suitable styles within the first few mins of the appointment. We only need to make sure the brides’ personal style preference goes along well, to create the perfect look for the bride.

Part of the problem is that many young women don’t know anything about fashion silhouettes. When I was younger, more women sewed, and because they did, they knew what an A-line dress, or a 1920’s silhouette, or the various lines really were. They knew what an empire bodice was, and what a droop waist was. This young woman as all over the map, leading her consultants down the wrong road
David said that himself. The last two dresses she tried on were very much a 1930’s silhouette, which means that she came in the door already throwing the professionals off. It wasn’t picky, it was a lack of knowledge on her part, and also, a lack of homework. It pays for the young lady to really do her homework with the bridal magazines (which they have in every country now), and learn how to speak to her consultant. This will yield her the best result. When both parties speak the same language, it helps a lot, and you can get what you want.
