    I’ve had this helmet for a year and totally agree with your comments - particularly the negatives. Having said that it’s a fantastic helmet for the price and I’d happily buy another. High safety ratings too!

    FYI, there are speaker cutouts in the helmet, the are not round but they are there! 👍, if you remove the lining you will see them, which makes it super easy to install any intercom, so that makes it an even better helmet, caberg helmets are just brilliant!! Good review BTW 👌

    Firstly there is no issue at all opening the front with thick winter gloves, ive had this helmet for 3 years and commute with it 365 days of the year. Also there is cut outs recessed inside for the comms speakers.
    For the price it's been a brilliant lid

    Thanks for the review, i'll have to consider it. I already have an open face caberg. I have an agv compact quiet heavy, its alright in the open position, but just catches my chin when closed. Not comfortable for longer distance trips.

    HI thanks for this great review. You do not mention it, but this helmet has a top notch shock absorption rating (both at the Sharp UK website and also tested independently by the German Motorrad magazine, where it scored a record low HIC value of 858)! An amazing achievement for such an affordable lid!

    I've just taken delivery of my third Duke 2. I didn't even bother to shop for or check out any other helmets I just saw the Duke 2 on offer and bought another. This time the 3rd one has come with the Pinlock fog-resistant lens whereas my first two had the laminate insert. I use my bike every day in all weathers for work and I've found the Duke 2 to be more than up to the rigours of a daily commuter. I'd have a guess that I've used the last one for well over 15000 miles. It's still in good condition but is starting to look a little tatty.

    i find caberg helmets really great! have the rhino and duke for years now, over 5 years infact with the duke as the newer one. i fitted the rhino with a BT and with a little tweaking inside, all the mechanisms of the BT works really well. one downside of the rhino is actually the venting - in a hot tropical country like ours, it could be quite hot amidst riding in the hot sun (and traffic!). the duke runs a bit cooler but i guess these models are not really designed for tropical climates - not critical at all. i just love the chin cover on the duke and it lessens the wind noise substantially. it is just unfortunate that nobody carries these brands anymore in my part of the world.

    How would you rate its air flow? I ride mainly in warm weather conditions, being from India, so air flow with the lid closed becomes important.
    I like the fact that the sun visor comes down quite a bit. It's an issue that I face with my Airoh Exec.. Flip off helmet, where you can remove the chin bar completely. It's light but this is 5 Star Sharp rated.

    • @HelmetHead
      @HelmetHead  Před 4 lety +2

      Hello the airflow works really well with the lid down. I'd recommend buying a white one as it won't hold the heat as much. For the price of it I'd say it's the best on the market at the moment. Hope this helps 👍

    • @binbinlele1041

      It all depends on wind noise. I ride a 2011 GS and have a Cardo Freecom JBL mounted in a LS2 Valiant 2 helmet. Sound is loud enough. Maybe you'll have to reposition the speakers.

    Closing it using the one hand to hold the rear idea while slamming it down with the other, a better way is to bring the front down to the almost closed position and using both hands at either side with thumbs under the bottom and fingers on the top pull down the final bit to click into position, much easier on the clip mounts

    • @JimGDMAC
      @JimGDMAC Před rokem

      When the chin strap is done up you only need one hand to close the flip front, no need to slam it just lower it into place. Have used a Duke 2 for around 4 or 5 years now. Also never had any problems with the front open button with winter gloves. Only complaint is the sun visor doesn't go all the way up and stays in view at the top.

    Great review. I have two of these helmets with a third on the way. you´ve got to colour coordinate. No kidding aside, it´s the total between the missus and I.
    One aspect you left out, is the safety aspect. The Duke II has a 5 star Sharp test rating (highest possible) with the visor staying in place 90% of the time, which is rather good for a flip helmet.
    Keep up the good work!
