A scale model is most generally a physical representation of an object that maintains accurate relationships between all important aspects of the model, although absolute values of the original properties need not be preserved. This enables it to demonstrate some behavior or property of the original object without examining the original object itself. The most familiar scale models represent the physical appearance of an object in miniature, but there are many other kinds.
Scale models are used in many fields including engineering, architecture, film making, military command, salesmanship, and hobby model building. While each field may use a scale model for a different purpose, all scale models are based on the same principles and must meet the same general requirements to be functional. The detail requirements vary depending on the needs of the modeler.
To be a true scale model, all relevant aspects must be accurately modeled, such as material properties, so the model's interaction with the outside world is reliably related to the original object's interaction with the real world.
Revell is a manufacturer of plastic scale models. The original American Revell merged with Monogram. In 2007, American Revell was purchased by Hobbico while the European Revell Germany separated from the American company in 2006 until Hobbico purchased it as well - bringing the two back together again under the same company umbrella. In 2017, Quantum Capital Partners took over operations of Revell after Hobbico declared bankruptcy.
Aluminum Model Toys, commonly abbreviated as AMT, was a Troy, Michigan-based company that manufactured various pre-assembled plastic promotional models starting in 1948, when attorney West Gallogly, Sr. started it as a side business. Later, a variety of kits became very popular. Most of the company's vehicle products were American cars and trucks in 1:25 scale. In the 1970s, hot rods, customs, trucks and movie and TV vehicles were also produced.
Because Gallogly had solid connections with Ford Motor Company, he was able to place his first models exclusively in Ford dealerships, starting a long promotional relationship (Cawthon 2002). Gallogly's first model was a 1947-1948 Ford Fordor sedan made of cast aluminum and painted with official Ford paint (Cawthon 2002). After issuing successful Ford sedan models, the company set up shop on Eight Mile Road outside Detroit (Chrysler 2008). - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I remember when the hobby seemed to be fading away and model car companies were hurting and I honestly believe that Round2 saved our hobby so THANK YOU to Round2 for what you have done for the hobby.
I’m so happy that Round 2 is rereleasing all those old kits!! I hear people complaining about flash and crap, but you gotta admit, that’s it’s so awesome to see them all again!
Those people are seriously cry babies, they aren't skilled model builders. It takes seconds to remove flash from a part.
thats why we have tools to cut out the flash, simple.i have never complained about flash, hey sometimes you get a kit with no flash and sometimes you do, alot of cry babies out there, suck it up and get out your tools.
All hail Cody and Hurtlocker. The mightiest and bestest model builders in the world. For they are right, and nobody is entitled to their own opinion or allowed to tell Round2 what they'd like to see improved upon or retooled. Speaking of tools, Cody and Hurtlocker dont need retooling because they are the epitome of being tools.
@@BlueGillage found the Crybaby. Your "opinion" part is ironic considering you're giving me shit for mine. 🤡
Isn't the flash caused by old (worn) molds?
Yes, THANK YOU round 2! Just keep on "pouring" out MORE and MORE new models for all of us fans and keep the hobby alive!
My very first car kit I built (or tried to build) was the AMT 1961 Plymouth Valiant. I am 72 years old. Bring it back and make an old man happy! Great vid Chris as always. Keep up the good work.
Chris,Thanks for this very informative video!
I'm sure I'm not the only guy asking for reissues of the MPC 1968, 69, 71 and 72 Chevrolet Impalas!
Thanks for listening!
I didn't see this in the video, but the one kit more than any other I'd love to see reissued is the 1966 Imperial kit. My father and I have been rebuilding our "full scale" 66 Imperial which was handed down from his father, and I've been looking to purchase a kit of one. Unfortunately they are incredibly rare, but I think it would be incredible to be able to have a model kit to show with the real life car.
That being said, incredible video, thank you for the opportunity to ride along with you for the tour. That's an amazing facility.
All those amazing kits coming out, Ihope my wallet can stand it. Maybe someday soon Round 2 will reissue the 1969 Chevrolet Impala. Might I add, Chris is a man after my own heart to point out the Chrysler Imperial "Hero car". All amazing kits old and new. Thank you Round 2!
WOW! Chris, thank you so much for the tour of the company. Very interesting. Thank you to Round 2 for the awesome supply of models over the years. I have been building for over 60 years now and still have fun with it. Thanks again.....Tim👏👏👏👏
Thank you Round 2 people for allowing me to purchase many kits I had or wanted to have as a child. Brings a smile to my 54 year old face.
Also i would love to see the old tv show cars and trucks. The A-Team van, sweat hogs car, the Fall guy truck and so on.
I would like to see cooters tow truck get a re release.
My dream job. I'd love being surrounded by kits all day
There is no way I could be in the archives room. I wouldn't get a damn thing done, I would be too busy admiring the models that surrounded me.
You're not alone, believe me. 😅😅😅😅
👍👍👍 This was absolutely fantastic!! Hat’s off to Round2 for participating and for re-releasing vintage kits and bringing out brand new releases!!
Oh man I'd love to have a 1974 Dodge Monaco model. So many possibilities for showroom, Bluesmobile, or even demo derby.
Amazing episode! Thank you for driving there, it was well worth it! Love seeing the behind the scenes and the history!
Very nice look at Round 2. There are continuing to pump out new of old kits. We are so lucky to have them because they listen to US. This must have been an incredible opportunity for you. Thanks for sharing.
Please round 2!!! Kitt and the A team van😊😊😊!! Great job on the video brother Chris!
I really enjoyed this video. I'd love to see re-issue of the 1972, 1973, and 1974 Dodge Charger. Add the Rallye package option as a 2 in 1 kit. The originals are hard to come by!
I would absolutely love to see the 1960 Plymouth Police car station wagon reissued ..
Awesome! Good work you people and thank you Chris👍🏻😎. If there was one kit out of all those amt has made, it would be 1965 plymouth barracuda. I had my very first ride to this world in a 65' barracuda V8 four speed, well packed under the huge rear window. It was metallic blue and awesome
Here's an idea to start working on - 2027 is the 50th anniversary of Smokey and the Bandit. How about repopping/updating the Trans Ams and Trucks/Trailers from those films?
Box set of the three, or maybe four...Sheriff Bufords car too!
That would be awesome.
@@goratgo1970 Original 77 car, 80 turbo car, original 77 truck/trailer, 80 truck/trailer, and Buford obviously got a new car in each film, considering that each got trashed by the end of each one. They'd have to do a set for each film.
Sometimes when there was a model attached to a move or TV show they are hard to get re-released because of rights issues with said movie or TV show especially if a studio or company was sold or lapsed.
@@taskmaster58 That's why I suggested to start working on it now - plenty of time to work out the licensing.
I can’t wait for the Streeker Olds and the 64 Malibu
Round 2 is really keeping this hobby alive 😊
What would be really cool is to see a 1973 charger new release great video thanks for sharing
Hello, thank you for featuring some of my artwork on your channel! The illustrations you showed are acrylic paints. Both standard brush and airbrush. (My magazine work for Scale Auto and Model Cars utilized marker and colored pencil.) That Charger was a fun box to do because I'm a MoPar guy and that was a particularly good subject. Sometimes I provide digital artwork for Round 2 as well. Depends on the project. Thanks again for showing the actual artwork. Most people don't get a chance to see the originals! -Brad
I've loved seeing your work in model car magazines for years! Truly amazing artwork!
In the early '90's we thought the model car hobby was dying. Then came the awesome Lindberg 61 Chevy and the AMT 60 Starliner. I knew there was hope for us diehard model builders. Round 2 is awesome. My only problem is, I may have to start mowing lawns again like back in the '60's in order to buy everything!
Thanks for a great video!
That archives room was off the hook, I could spend weeks in there! Thanks for showing us this outstanding factory and that cool Barris T buggy!
Thanks for the tour, Chris and Chad! How about a 1967 Ford Falcon Futura? 😊
I’d love to see Round2 release some of the old AMC kits. The Matador, Gremlin, Javelin and Hornet. It would also be great if they could make new tooling kits for the AMC Hurst SC Rambler and Rebel The Machine.
Round 2 has the very coolest kits around. 😎 I have purchased their AMT Star Trek kits and the plastic is much more and has pretty nice moldings then the other one.
I’d love to see the seventies Camaros kits again
And stock Vega
Yeah! Me too for the "70's" Camaros!
How about "Jo han" kits? Are you guys going to rerelease any of those cars?
Definitely the MPC 1970 and 1971 MPC Mercury Cyclone kits. And the 1970 MPC Cougar kit.
How about a 1950's Powerwagon? Great video, thanks Round 2 and Chris!
Very well done Chris and staff at Round2! If archive item B2-23 '91 Z/28 or the 25th Anniv. Z/28 ever make re-release, PLEASE retool or CORRECT the instument panel. All have the earlier IROC panel, completely different.
Yes, GM redesigned the gage cluster in 1990.
Thanks for sharing
The kits I'd like to see re released is the REVEEL 77 GMC Wrecker Tow Truck, the MPC The Fall Guy Truck, and The AMT John Deere 319 Backhoe.
This is awesome Chris! Thanks to everyone at Round2Models and Chris for giving us a behind the scenes tour!
Cool!!!! Thanks all.
If Round 2 reads this, give us more dash and detail decals! Thanks for all you guys do in keeping fresh kits out for us all to enjoy!
Would love to be surrounded by all those awesome kits!!
I'd love to see more modern semi truck kits and maybe a release of a logging truck kit.
Great video. I wish they would come out with a 1/25th scale 80s or 90s GMC school bus.
I would love to see the " A - Team " van, the " Cooter " tow truck, the John Force Castrol GTX Olds funny car, and the Canepa Kenworth T600A semi as reissues!
I'd love to see the dukes of Hazzard tow truck back out, either with or without the dukes decals, it would be awesome to have optional wrecker decals as well
I believe a lot of people would love that tow truck rereleased and we would like to see it again. Nice suggestion 👍
That was so cool, would love to see Sox and Martin Rostock rereleased as well as the BJ and the bear truck, the Rubber duck mack, and a Smokey and the bandit truck, trailer and the car.
Ditto Chester. Would love to see everything you listed. Especially the Rubber Duck Mack and trailer and the Smokey and the Bandit combo ❤❤❤❤
Very excited about the 64' Chevelle! Tell Chad I would love to hear more about the Barris Buggy! Also, 59', 60', 61' Pontiac, Oldsmobiles and Buicks! Great show Chris! Thank you😎👍
I saw the BJ and the bear kits and the Movin on Kenworth kit. I would love to see these kits reissued. Great video. Thanks.
the A-Team Chevy van is one of the few childhood kits I have not been able to get a copy of. I would LOVE to see that kit on the shelves again.
This is so cool Chris. Thanks for bringing us along and thanks to Chad and everyone at Round2. Love what you guys do.
I would love them to re-issue the A-Team van😊
Thanks Chris & Chad For The Tour of Round2 and To Round2 For "FINALLY" ANSWERING MY " PERSONAL" For The " 64 " Chevelle Malibu SS 2dr Ht. GBA 🙏🤗 Gary.
Great visit to Round 2. Thanks. Really like your kit unveilings and builds. Also your realistic view of modelling - build and enjoy.
Thanks for the awesome tour of the operations behind Round 2 Models! Definitely a nice treat!
Round 2 makes the world of model building so much better. Would love to see the International Transtar 2 Cabover released again...and maybe the old Ertl Tractors.
Thanks for making this behind the scenes video. Round 2, please, more truck kits. How about either of the International S series kits, the International Paystar 5000 logger set or the 1/32 International 9670.
Movin' On semi model from the 70's TV show.
Arrange it to better match the pilot "In Tandem" episode '73 KW since it resembles it most anyways. The Revell boxing is much closer to the VIT in the show.
Something I haven't sen for a long time would be a great reissue is the Chevy window van as the "Open Road Camper".
Reissuing older dodge window vans would be a welcome site!
Wow is this ever fun! What a great company that does so much for us modelers. Thanks for taking us on this tour!
We could also use a reissue of the Pontiac Venturas. Only slight modification could offer the NEVER offered 1974 Pontiac GTO!
Hey Chris! It's great to put a face with the voice! Great to see Chad as well! Thank you for the entertaining and informative video! Keep up the great work everyone!
Great. There is a kit I would like to see come back in 1/25th scale. That is the International 4070 B. Transtar. Thanks for all the great Heavy truck, Trailer, and tractor kits you have produced over the years. Want to bring out a new truck kit. Maybe the international 4670 cabover. I have over one hundred kits built.
Thanks Chris from Australia for this fantastic episode. I would love to see the Budweiser race car and truck transporter reissued. thanks Neil
awesome! i m happy to see the ''disneyland'' warehouse . the BJ AND THE bear KW, the 72 chevelle, the AMC!! the red little truck, all models we want 4 so long. thank u all
The best video yet from you Chris. Love that you visited Round2 on site. Love the tour and the archive room. Would love if they brought back the vintage 1/25 scale BJ and the the Bear Kenworth cabover and Convoy rubber duck Mack truck.😊
100% agree! BJ and the Bear!
I remember building an MPC Chevy Beretta. I think I still have it.
Seeing all of them molds reminds me when I worked at a Injection molding plant ( for 39.5 yrs ). We had 32 machines, some times my boss will tell me to put a big mold In a small press that should have gone in a big press. Well I don't have to tell you parts would flash, because there was not a lot of Tonage. I tryed to tell him but he would not care. Tools that should have been fixed because of bad venting would cause burn marks on parts. So to stop the burning I would put a couple of pcs of scotch tape on the sides of the vents to stop it from burning; well , I'LL stop for now! Just wanted to let you know What I had to do. Joe B.
What a cool an fun day you must've had thanks for the behind the scenes tour of Round 2 and Auto World wonderful video thanks for your time you invested Chris 👍🏻👍🏻
Definitely all of the 1/32 scale trucks. They definitely need to make a comeback.
One that jumped out to me , and surprised to see it ... the “Right On” Maverick ProStock Car ... which I believe was a JoHan kit , AMT used the moulds
This was so cool! Thanks for sharing
I’d love to see the ‘67 Ford Falcon redone. Based on vintage values of the kit, it would be a big seller.
The best model kit ever made was the DM 800 tractor. Fortunately I joined the Navy Seabees 78-83 heavy equipment operator and worked in transportation and got to operate 2 different heavy hauling DM 800s in Gulfport Mississippi. I seen the kit up on that shelf. Made one model with front wheel drive with a custom V- plow .Loved doing my own custom work on models.
That is a great model. I remember it cost around 12 dollars back in the day.
i love the old van kits. The Moving On semi, any of the 80's cars. also anything my parents or grandparents drove, 66 GTO, 69 442 conv. 71 charger! 61 jaguar...any sci fi!! i really would like a 1976 grand prix and a 1975 sunbird! any nascar, open wheel
Thanks Chris for the excellent video and tour of the Round2 facility
This is Amazing!
Chris. Thank you for the tour of Auto World. Man I could go broke quick fast and in a hurry at that place. lol. All of those semi kits and old race car kits. Just amazing. Again thank you so much for Bruce in Wv!!!!
You guys at Round 2 do such a great job with the re-releases I really wish you guys would consider re-releasing the 59 and 60 Impala model kits in 125th scale as well as the 57 and 56 Chevy Nomad 125th scale model kits please and thank you
Round Two, if you are listening, please bring back the 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 with the opening hood and engine and the NASCAR option and Fred Lorenzen decals. Had one many years back, long time ago.
67 Galaxie Coupe, surely?😊
I would love to see some of these 1/32 snap kit big rig come out again, the 1/25 ih paystar and transtar II
If they could re-do the stock '66 Toronado, that would be awesome. That and a stock '72 Gran Torino.
Yes ! The Toronado's from the mid 60's to the early 70's.
Please bring back the MPC 71 Roadrunner
Nice !
Wow! I actually have a ‘66 Imperial and the Hero imperial kits
Please re issue the 72 Chevelle and the 1970 heavy Chevy Chevelle and the 72 GMC step side truck please and thank you, I appreciate it, I’m disabled and this is my hobby now, great work by the way and thank you Chris for all your help.
Nice video. They must reiseu the old show rod kits..like the lil kookookar, and all that kind of kits
Loved this video. Thank You.
Id really like the old Peterbuilt Rex Chainbelt cement mixer - circa late 1960’s. Definitely a niche item, I had one given to me from my Dad who was an engineer at Rex. Great episode.
The li'l cashbox would be great. I think it was only released once. I'll definitely be getting a couple of the 64 malibu kits. Thanks for all the great kits.
Definitely been waiting on the 64 malibu
More of the old funny car kits from the 60s and 70s pretty please ❤
Fantastic video Chris, I really enjoyed this one, keep up the great work, and thank you for all that do for the hobby. 🇨🇦
I wish they would do the rubber duck Mack truck and trailer in 1/25 scale I would also love to see a GMC cracker box semi with the sleeper in 1/25 and the Kenworth bullnose in 1/25 scale
Awesome video! I’d love to see more of this. I absolutely love their model kits and I’m a huge collector of their diecasts!!
I'd like to see Round2 bring back some of the classic sports cars from their vaults - like the Hussein, the Chaparral or the Sunbeam Tiger. We get so many muscle cars already - something different would be most welcome!
Wow!! Whatta pilgrimage!!! Thats model mecca!!
They need to bring back the old Macks,Brockways,IH Emeryvilles. Do the International cabovers in day cabs also. Bring back the old semis and plows and dump trucks. Would also like to see the 72 Chevrolet Kingswood Estate stationwagons. And older Durangos.
The older trucks you mentioned would be great. And I would get a few 72 Kingswood Estate wagons if they came out.
Cool video. Nice to see where our stuff comes from. Wish list: Cooters tow truck, A-team van, 69 Pontiac Grand Prix, snowman's semi from smokey and the bandit. And the list goes on.😁👍
Koo kats making kool kits
Nice tour an like round2 kits. I'm into semi trucks an trailers an got a huge collection myself. Love mack trucks and wish they would make a mack f700 cabover from 1970.
Great video. Looks like a cool place to work.
So cool!! I want cooters tow truck!!
My dream job. Hey Round2 , how about releasing again the MPC 1971 Roadrunner/ Superbird kit and the Freightliner FLC Tractor. And the Ski-Dio snowmobile kit.
Fantastic video. Loved it.
