Why is the southern lights seen well from Australia and New Zealand but can't be seen from Patagonia, Chile and Tierra del Fuego?
Because the South magnetic pole is not located exactly over the celestial South Pole. It is closer to Tasmania and New Zealand and is continuing to drift closer. Google that shit.

Well there's not too many places, but there are better places than this. My advice would be do drive down during the daytime and have a good look around.
