It really amazes me all the mechanical that goes into the walls of even a small ADU like this these days. Question, what is that cable called that you ran for the 220 volt 50 amp plug in the garage for the EV charger? I noticed the conductors were all bundled into a black cable. Just wondering what it was called. Thanks, I'm enjoying your series!
It’s Romex 6/3. Similar to what you would buy to wire your switches and outlets only it’s sized for higher amperage. Depending on the circuit size and the distance you will want to use #6 or #4 copper wire. www.homedepot.com/p/Southwire-25-ft-6-3-Stranded-Romex-SIMpull-CU-NM-B-W-G-Wire-63950021/204839834
@@URBNBLDRS ah! Didn’t know they made romex that big. Thanks
A 200 amo power to the ADU, do you need a sub meter for to the 1200 sqft. ADU. What amp BREAKER do i need to rechargse EV superfaST?
You will need a sub-panel run from the meter to inside the ADU. Normally between 60-150 amps, 100 amps is probably the most common. If you have a 400 amp service then you could run 200 to the ADU. But most SFR only have a 200 amp service. On the EV charger, you can go up to 100 amps. Just make sure that you size your wire appropriately. You don’t want to use a breaker larger than your wire capacity can handle.
