Great episode. Covey/Coventina/Eleanor/Elly has A lot layers. Now Benny was just doing a bit much. To feel misunderstood is one thing but not see or speak to your family for 8 years! Byron's girlfriend seems to be older than him and she got on my nerves for not knowing time and place.
YES!!! The gf was doing WAY too much WAY TOO SOON! She could have kept that to herself. Think it all you want, but hush!

Always complaining, never taking accountability for her faults in life. Blaming others for her failures. Like when she switched up on the girlfriend after dinner, and placed the blame on her.

I am so glad you're reviewing this show. It's very well done and intriguing. Every time I think I've got a handle on the mystery they come up with something else. As a first generation Jamerican, I can relate to being the hope and the dream of Bob Marley, the indigenous ancestors and Shabba Ranks. Bennie should be sympathetic but she is giving when Denise Huxtable got annoying. Like girl you can't run off to Africa then show up with a husband and a baby and get in YOUR feelings. Pick a lane and we will support you 😅

Benny, is really disappointing. Why is she letting her boyfriend pay her bills, that’s one of the reasons he feels like he’s entitled to put hands on her.
She went from her dad paying all her bills to her BF paying them. She needs to take a look in the mirror and ask herself some questions. Because she’s an actual person…
I'm Gen Z (I saw a comment mentioning that) and I studied law and my mom grinded for me so did my community, I thought B, didn't have good awareness since her family did seem like they would ride or die for her if she just followed through. Her finding herself arc though I think was to relate to people who may have had things handed to them more so, also how she expected that white guy to look out for her, no one could have seen him being abusive but I think her dad and mom and brother sheltered her A LOT.

I liked the show as a Barbadian I actually still recognised some of the Caribbean culture although it was 1. Set in the past and 2. It was a different island, Jamaica. I also actually related to their parents as they grinded to get to where they were and the daughter B, would have gotten on my nerves too

I didn’t know about this show until I saw you were reviewing. I’m glad I started watching because it’s so good. Love your reviews! I also feel your pain because I have a big family and it’s standing room only 😂
Lynette rubbed me the wrong way too
I thought she was overreacting as well in regards to the family dinner.
After watching it again, I think what took her so long to reach out to her family was that white man and his psychological and eventually physical abuse.
That definitely played a part in it for sure. It just seemed like a huge jump for her to make because of something so seemingly small

When he put her out I literally said "BYE!" out loud 😂 She came in way to hot, and wasn't considerate at all. It was like SHE wasn't even grieving Covey's death. She's known her for at least 8 years. Why would she behave like that? I aint like that!
