It was the daffodils she planted in her garden for Matilda Mabel that took me clean out of here 😢😩
Yesssss
That scene when she ran after Mabel and fell on the ground crying had me in tears!!!!! Whew!! It felt so real… like she wasn’t acting. This episode was really good but had me upset with the nuns. Ugh!
Yess .. how could they be sooo heartless 🥺🥺🥺
Exactly and they lied to her and then gave her away when she was not watching
@@mysweetperspectivethey weren’t being heartless. They felt they were using insight. She would have been a single mother, she was homeless and didn’t know which way was up. Covey later married and had a good life. Would that man had excepted her if she had a child , a white child at that? We could say” maybe he would have”. BUT Covey NEVER told her husband?? Her confidant and friend. Surely she felt he would not have understood. The nuns thought they were doing what was best for everyone involved. It was tough and it hurt…. but what would have been the alternative??
@@Simplicity_offgriding we have different views on this.. As a child of adoption in my mind it was absolutely heartless.. 1. Not to comfort or console her during this process 2. When she stated she changed her mind for them to have the baby absconded with.. at the end of the day she was young , naive, signed her rights away, and had to live with it.. But it was extremely cold.. We’ll never know what could have happened, what we do know is she was a survivor and she would have done what she needed to for her baby ✨💕
@@Simplicity_offgriding let’s also remember they weren’t doing this out of the kindness of their hearts.. there was money exchanged for these children in a lot of instances.
Yes this was an emotional episode 😢.
very.. I hope Mabel knows that Covey loved her and always wanted her. It was heartbreaking💔
@@mysweetperspective Yeah me too. I believe Mabrl knows how much Covey loved her.
Ashley your an insightful reviewer, so I became a subscriber, “Generational Trauma” and all! This series is like a volcano with so many twist and turns. I love it and after Ep. 7, I was anxious to find a reviewer and you were the only one I found, so soon. To my surprise I found your spoiler so intelligent and fun. Went back over your past reviews of Black Cake which were fantastic. Now I can’t wait for Ep.8, because this show has really caught my attention. Can’t wait for your review as well. And I’m interested to hear about your adoption backstory as well!
I so appreciate your feedback 🙏🏼 I’ll definitely be making time to do an adoption story time💕✨
I love this book and show. I also really like your take on the episode. I do think that the Catholic Church made money from these babies. Those girls did a lot of work. Were they running a business on top of the home/orphanage? Absolutely heartbreaking in everyway.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 and money definitely changed hands even in legal adoptions… when I dug a little deeper I found out about so many nuns accused of selling babies even outside of their “adoption” process during the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s.. It’s wild
Now there are a number of subplots that I hope will be answered in the final episode. Or perhaps I’ll have to locate the book. 1. Does anyone remember when Elinor/Covey, family maid left her sorry dad. And as she was walking away on the road, a car was following her and I’m just wondering what happened to the lady? The maid/surrogate mother obviously poisoned the Black Cake that killed Coveys Gangsta husband at the wedding, but who was following her in that car?
2. Whatever happened to Coveys real Mama?
3. Who is the Lawyer to Elinor’s family? Was he the boy watching the wedding in a tree or was that her beloved husband Bert. Or was he the boy the real Elinor introduced to Covey at the birthday party? I know he was an old acquaintance.
3. I always thought it strange that Elinor could watch a TV show and assume that Mable was her daughter, that was taken from her decades ago. I’m also curious about the friend of hers at the adoption home who once mentioned switching babies.
All these subplots make me anxious to see the final episode and then read the book to find out what Oprah decided to not include in this fascinating story of interracial love and betrayal.
Yesssss.. So many stories within the story… I’m thinking it was possibly Covey’s mom in the car following Pearl.. it’s a long shot but I’ve been thinking on it.. whoever it was, I believe was involved in the plot.. that would answer 1 and 2… but 3… The lawyer and Covey definitely had a romantic relationship after both of their spouses passed away in my opinion. They seemed too familiar in episode 6 🧐🧐🧐
You definitely have to read the book. There is a lot missing in the tv version. Plus in the book, everyone is speaking from their perspective
@shahitawinfrey1493 starting the book tomorrow.. cuz I need more answers
Thanks for reviewing the show.
I love it.. can’t wait to start the book ✨💕🙏🏼
@@mysweetperspective I'm reading the book now. It's interesting some of the things that were changed or how things were moved in sequence. Maybe you can review the book afterwards.
Just my two cents, I think Pearl was contemplating killing her husband. But Bunny loves Covey, I think Bunny did it.
I’m definitely leaning towards it being a group effort!! 🧐
