I'm a hater of the Greens except for Helaena Lovegood. I'm relieved that they didn't make the Blood & Cheese scene as graphic as I had read it was in the book. The sound effects in the background while Helaena ran away were enough to get the point across. Alicent was showing feet for info from Larys Clubfoot last season so I'm not shocked that she's riding Crispin the Himbo of the 7 Kingdoms 😂
To me, Rhaenys is the Queen that should've been. Daemon is still on his gangsta shit with that cloak🤣I'm rooting for Rhaenyra's rights and wrongs #TeamBlack all day!!

In the book, Helaena has the twins and a younger son. The twins are I think around 5 and the son 2-3. Blood and Cheese break in and force her to choose which son will die, and when she tries to get them to kill her instead they get impatient and say they will r*pe her daughter and kill them all anyway. So she tearfully chooses the little son, and then B&C tell him something like "You hear that, your mommy wants you dead", and then they cut off the head of the older one. Then they leave. And Helaena basically goes insane over the guilt and can never look at her younger son (Maelor) again. So, it's pretty awful in the books. Very cruel and twisted.
That would have been 🔥 on screen!
@@watchwithmeellebee ugh I guess this isn’t a spoiler because Maelor doesn’t exist in the show, but later there is a situation where he has to escape Kings Landing with a white cloak. They’re both disguised as small folk but a mob figures out who he is and they basically rip the little kid apart and kill him. Just get prepared. I’ve been listening to the book again on Audible, and basically it is all misery and fighting and death like everywhere. It’s a pretty depressing listen lol.
To me Alicent (Otto/Crispen encouraging) started off the whole mess. With her "claiming"(pure bs) that her husband's dying wish was for their son to be king. And being absolute trash showing up to the wedding in green. I just have no sympathy for her.

That was Joffrey, her third son, the baby she had to take to the Queen right after his birth last season. In the preview for next week, she is playing with two little blonde babies. Those are her & Damian’s sons.
Oh yeah, I remember Alicent "sent" for the baby immediately after she had the baby, and Rhaenera was like "oh hell no"
But I can’t remember why? Why did she and her husband have to take the baby right after she gave birth??? Boy? White hair??

I think Allen is Corlis bastard son. In the books blood and cheese were much more gruesome with killing the son. Im actually ok with them not showing the beheading of a child. However, that damn closed captioning was like "the sound of flesh and bone being cut in the background " when they were beheading him took me out 😮

I had never heard of the Blood and Cheese storyline, so I was SO shocked. Daemon had mentioned that Aemond was a good sword fighter and Otto had that conversation with Aemond about him being too much, so I was expecting Aemond to kill the intruders and maybe do something psychopathic. I had no idea the plot was going to end with child murder!

Girl - you are on track!! HotD is an outright commentary on women in power, exploring themes of gender inequality and the systemic barriers women face. Throughout the series, men consistently dismiss and undermine the women who hold or seek power. This is evident in key storylines: Princess Rhaenys is overlooked for the throne despite her rightful claim, Rhaenyra's queenship is usurped by the greens in favor of a male ruler, Alicent navigates a patriarchal system to assert her influence, and Helena's prophetic insights are disregarded by those around her.
I understand you don't like Alicent but she is maneuvering through her world with a blend of bitterness and naivete, striving to assert her influence while adhering to societal expectations in public - but finding space to be a herself in the dark. Her character exemplifies the compromises and strategic decisions women must often make to maintain their positions and protect their interests.

It's very accurate, and has no baring on my hate for her! 😂 All jokes aside, Alicent could never be a girls girl, or even have a good relationship with a women because all she's ever done is be in service to men. I wonder if she even sees the value in a relationship that isn't with a man?

Alicent says "I have done everything that was expected of me; forever upholding the kindgom, the family, the law while you flaut all to do as you please."What does Rhaenyra say? "Now they see you as you are." Women see Alicent as she is - she isn't pure and innocent like she HAS to be, she is secretly repressed until she can't take it and then she explodes. It's there, Elle - you're finding it! Keep going!
Also they must have flew some Black braiders in to Croatia were they were filming because Lord Sea Snake wig/hair game was better this episode. The front melt & blend on that deadlocked lace front seemed much improved since season 1 lol..😂
They must have used the Bridgerton wig installers...The wig looked so good!

it doesn’t have the same impact bc we loved Rob and his mama.
Also the Red Wedding was a massacre... 🩸🧀 is brutal, I mean they killed the heir to Aegons throne... and it drives Aegon over the edge... but we didn’t know that baby like we knew the Starks...

Why doesn’t Helena have bodyguards that made zero sense? You’re at war and nobody is at guard guarding the king and the queen and their children ?
How is it that the rat catchers were just able to walk on by the king and no one stopped them like who are you so; they just know who the ratcatcher on staff is?
Why doesn’t Damon just take out Aemond himself? I mean, he knows how to fight very well so why would you send a ratcatcher when you can just fight him yourself?
I heard In the books, Alicent has 4 kids, where is the 4th kid? Is the 4th kid Sir Christin and not born yet?
I think Ser Criston Cole was supposed to be on duty, but he was getting in the Queen's guts
Technically, they weren't at war. And Cole sent everyone away.
Larys had quite a lot of people scanned and killed, as per his chat with Alicent. They probably haven’t restaffed guards and servants yet. The 4th son exists and studies in Oldtown. He has not been mentioned yet which is a bit odd, but we see a bloodline for him in season 1 credits.

From what people are saying about the books, the little boy was completely beheaded and the other twin that was a girl was graped. So glad they adjusted the scene because I was still traumatized.
Yes that scene in the books had me in tears for weeks every time I thought about it. It was gruesome. Helena picked the youngest son who was old enough to understand that he was going to die to save his older brother. The way B&C laughed when he was picked crazy. And he still have to live with that fact.

The little kid is the third bastard. That's Joffrey Velaryon. Aka Joffrey Strong. That's the baby that rheneyra carried all the way to allicent after giving birth because she wanted to check his hair color.

To be fair, he couldn’t clip the cape on himself in full armor, and leaving the room not wearing it would have been a dead giveaway. Also, it meant she would have had to have taken it off him in the first place. Since she seems to be pious with BIG exceptions, maybe taking off the cape symbolizes for her (and him) that the rules/Gods don’t apply if the cape is removed?
Plus: he didn’t really need to remove the cape to perform that… service

hey Elle- haven't read the books either and yet there was lots of hype I'd heard about Blood and Cheese- so I was also disappointed with that. It may not have been the most exciting first episode, but we had to deal with all the loose ends of last season. Looking forward to what is next. Yes I am going to say that dog kick was CGI and I'm with you about hurting children or animals- no tolerance for it. Looking forward to your next review on Interview with a vampire too. 💗
You are partially correct about Alyn/Alan…..he is a bastard….but of WHO’s blood is the question….the answer to that holds the key to his worth in future plots….stay tuned!!! I’ll do my best to hint without spoiling ;)

@@lisamorrison214 it will sound strange (but hear me out) : the brutality could have been "more elegant". Hacksaw sounds cheapened the act. If they would have kept the words as written then possibly used wall shadows to show body outlines /sound to depict the assassination. Lol, full disclosure Blood and Cheese are icons in GOT and They did them dirty with bringing them to life. So disappointed 😞
Its trippy that so many people are not mordified by Blood and Cheese. Some of yall were more pissed about Cheese kicking the dog than them 🗡'n and 🔪'n and 🪚'n the head☠️ off the sleeping baby in his bed in front of his momma and baby sister. The sound was so off putting. I did NOT need to see it cause the sound did it all for me.
The sound was wild! I can’t even imagine how they came up with that sound.

When I heard the Winterfell music and saw my old home, I nearly teared up 🥲. Doesn’t Jace look more Stark than anything else? He looked so comfortable with Lord Cregan.
The Blood and Cheese scene didn’t have the suspense feel I was expecting. They just walked through the castle in front of everyone. I think if the scene was quieter and darker and the direction was to make the scene feel claustrophobic to the audience, the impact would have been stronger.
Jace definitely looks Stark-ish! Something tells me I’m going to see those two again. Because they could have skipped those scenes and just shown Jace coming home to his mama. 👀
I wish they had showed Jace visits to the Vale. I would have loved for the show to explore Mushroom version of Jace visits to the Vale.
I keep hearing about Mushroom. I wonder why they’re leaving him out? Maybe because they don’t want to use a Little Person in a derogatory role like that…

I forgot about him. I don’t think we saw him last season other than when he was born, right?

Blood and cheese was supposed to be worse because I think they assault Helena. Then they asked which one of her children does she prefer being alive. She chooses the one she wants to live and they end up killing the one that she chose. While the one that she didn't choose gets to live the rest of their lives knowing that their mother wanted them dead. It was supposed to be really horrific but of course nowadays they're going to dumb down stuff that they wouldn't have usually dumbed down in the original Game of Thrones
This would have been so good! The GOT/HOTD fandom can handle that kind of awful. I wonder why they chose to water it down?
@@watchwithmeellebee Girl! Here's the deets. They had to change it because there was a third child in the book - another boy. Blood and Cheese asks Helena which BOY she wants to live. They couldn't do this here because the showrunner only had two children born to Helena at this time in the HBO show. Supposedly, they felt there wasn't enough time passed in the seasons for Helena to be born, marry her brother, have twins, have another kid, have them killed etc.

I was so disappointed in blood and cheese, it’s crazy how I was rooting for them to murder them kids like in the books but I will repent later. Alicent needs to be dragged up and through the red keep, I know it’s not cannon but if Rhaynera could Molly whop her one time I would be satisfied. Christian is still the royal garden tool I see and they need to let Daemon off the leash, I am ready for all out war at this point. The episode gave 6/10, I really hope this show doesn’t follow the rollercoaster which was the original. I hate to see some of my favorites fumbled all over again

Yet he complains and is furious about the Hightower treason. Rhaenyra complains about her throne being usurped and treason meanwhile with the help of Corlys she usurped house velaryon and her heirs are living breathing treason.
