Channeling the Tenth doctor in this scene. "I'm sorry. I am so sorry." followed by the "What?". That part had me laughing at what was supposed to be a dramatic moment.
Yes!!
the tenth doctor isnt in this scene is he?
@@avcables_ Key-Word is “channelling”, no David Tennant isn’t in this scene, but Jack’s dialogue matches that of Martha and the Tenth Doctor in Utopia when they find Jack ‘dead’ outside the TARDIS. It’s a fun little callback, whether intentional or not I don’t know, but cool nevertheless! :)
Then there's the 3 "whats" although it's said by 3 different people
And that's how it all ended...on a cliffhanger.
Well it's a classic RTD era ending to a season... doesn't mean it's good.
@Adam Parkin what do you mean
I've never actually watched Miracle Day, but arebyou kidding me?? This is how they end it??? Wtf
that is how it ended...sadly.
annoying isn't it
If Torchwood ever does make an on-screen return. I'd love for Rex to be one of them. He's so awesome!!
YES!
Except for his rampant homophobia...but yes, otherwise a good character.
@@moondragon3535the actor or character
I just rewatched this season for the first time since it aired. While it wobbles in places, it was far better than some gave it credit for, and it also seemed to be setting up for a second US based season with these final scenes. Sadly, that wasn't to be for genuinely heartbreaking reasons outside of the show, but if the BBC and Starz ever wanted to bring it back, I'd absolutely welcome more adventures with Jack, Gwen, Rhys and Rex.
What heartbreaking reasons?
@@TheCulturedThug RTD had to move back to the UK and drop all his work for several years to take care of his partner, who died a few years later.
@@TheDidymusBrush
That's truly heartbreaking 💔 😢 for real.
And Andy.
Tne episodic release made it suffer. Perhaps binging allows it to be better.
The fact that the title to this video calls this the final scene on tv rather than of Torchwood as a whole makes me think that they’ll be posting videos relating to the audios next
I doubt it, maybe some trailers for seasons 5 and 6, but I don't think they'd release actual audio clips.
MY EXACT THOUGHT
or at least, hope... that would be so rad!
I guess Jack won’t be alone now for the next five billion years.
@Jason Mistretta Jack, Rex, Ashildr and Rory the plastic centurion.
@@stephenmurphy2212 Rory isn't immortal
@@bradleydrake6941 he was when he was an auton.
@@stephenmurphy2212 yeah but then he became human again and died because of the weeping angels.. this is the list of people who are still immortal
@@bradleydrake6941 whatever. But to be fair Rory has died several times. And Jack/Boe’s immortality ran out in five billion years.
It’s so stupid but that reaction was GOLD
I want to think that he was sad when Rex "died" but even more saddened when he came back to life.
As a Dr. Who fan since the Tom Baker years, I miss Torchwood. I want to see how Captain Jack became the Face of Boe. I also want to see another series following Dr. Whos daughter Jenny and her friends (the girl that was created using his genetic material).
yeah i wanted to see jenny, the doctor, and river in an episode or just jenny and river. oh the stories
Yes! I thought that the following seasons after Jenny was created that we would see her again but so far, nothing. I really hope they add her to the new season!
@@Applecoco5 yeah, Jenny should return.
Nah, Rex is the face of Boe 😏
Fingers crossed for Captain Jack in the New Years special.
I swear if we don't get Jack in this special I'm done with Chibnall
i was lucky enough 2 have a video call with JB last week and he was talking about how he has to quarrantine when he comes back over here in a couple of weeks, so who knows.... could be doing a bit of last min filming along with some.other stuff?... i mean he kept us all fooled and in the dark last time lol but my bet is IF hes in it, he wouldve already filmed it in secret 🤞🤞
@@lexxit5860 The special was filmed last Autumn right before he went gray. He’s more than likely in.

HES BACK!!!
I’m up for specials or a new series or a movie, let’s be honest Torchwood was amazing and I miss it a lot!
I just started binge watching it & on the finale season. I'm gutted it was axed.
We need to bring it back
The production company Big Finish produces audio drama stories of Torchwood. Some stories before Miracle Day and some stories after Miracle Day. It's expensive but worth it, if you really want more Torchwood content.
I love that Jack mentioned UNIT.
Pretty sure Jack said “You need to seal those sites up forever” not “UNIT sealed those sites up forever”. He was telling Rex that him and the rest of the CIA need to seal up the Blessing forever.
@@stephenmurphy2212 checked the script, its unit mate
From reading around the subject. My understanding is that it was planned to continue their series, but due to personal problems (brain cancer of a family member) the shows creator could not continue so the project got shelved.
Then of course the longer something is shelved the harder it is to bring back, actors move on, and grow older - which is difficult for an immortal that does not age.
Well Jack did say he still does age. But extremely slow. Hence him finding a grey hair. Fair as I'm aware it wasn't confirmed but he did die as the Face of Boe.
I guess there are two faces of Boe now
Well The Long Game mentioned that the Face of Boe had kids so...
@@Jedi_Spartan_38 So Jack gotta have sex with Rex eventually.
@@Jedi_Spartan_38 it also said it was the last of its kind, implying there was more than one at one point... As for Jack having kids, we already saw one of them in children of earth. His daughter?
I still don't believe that the incredibly handsome and dashing Captain Jack Harkness ends up as a massive face in a tank. Someone as confident as him would have hated that.
@@secretsquirrel7374 It wasn't as if it was an instant transformation! Billions of years had passed between Torchwood and Rose Tyler's first trip into the future. He changed into the head in a tank gradually... Who knows how living for a billion years would affect someone. Most of us won't even break the century!
This was actually the last onscreen appearance of Captain Jack Harkness until Fugitive Of The Judoon in 2020. 😲
Edit: The Doctor Who overlords had us waiting nearly a decade for him to return! 🙄
I think that happening could have been a reason for all 4 Torchwood seasons being added to iPlayer earlier this year (I have nothing to back that up though). BTW, they get removed in 2 or 3 months so I'm binging through my favourite episodes... along with the best bits of Miracle Day. I might also binge through the Chibnall episodes eventually while listening to Stubagful's Snuggly Chibnall Time to make stuff like Day One and End of Days enjoyable.
Wait, they are getting removed? Why?
@@mikeharvey2629 it's just the fact that shows only remain on BBC iPlayer for a temporary amount of time in most cases. The weird thing is that I don't think Torchwood has been shown on repeat in years.
@@mikeharvey2629 im not complaining but one of my favourite films the jackal is almost constantly on there until its removed and then out back on there. I guess someone at the BBC likes it too
That sucks. I've just finished all of the Classic Series with my parents (it has taken us 4 years!) and so we were moving to the New Series, along with the spin-offs. I suppose I can pay for them on Amazon.
I wish they had made the three families the big bad of a series of Doctor Who. Rex could have been a mystery man watching the TARDIS crew throughout the season and all the episodes connect to the plan b. In the finale Rex would finally contact the Doctor and co and bring them to Jack and Gwen. Then they would all team up to defeat the families once and for all. It could have been epic.
Such a shame Torchwood ends with the biggest eye-roll in history.
Well with Russell T. Davies returning and Torchwood having been changed status at the BBC from indefinite hiatus to long-term hiatus, I think we may be in for a Series 5 sooner rather than later.
Thanks for these uploads, Torchwood channel. We’ll miss them.
I can't lie, I want to see what would become of Rex in the Whoniverse.
same :(
You mean Captain Black Harkness?
THE IMMORTAL REX
genuinely love how the Big Finish continuations of Torchwood either make absolutely no reference to Miracle Day or make fun of it
10/10 highly recommend
I think the reason Big Finish never picked up on this directly is because the US channel/company that released Season 4 are the copyright owners for Rex and the other characters that first appeared here (similar to why Grace and Chang Lee never appeared in a major role after the DW TV Movie... I think)?
They don’t lol. I’ve listened. There’s several references, and they all take it seriously.
But the Big Finish stuff sucks. Having listened to the first 12 of the monthly range (some of which were actually good), The Torchwood Archive (which a dumpster fire of a story with good bits in it), and Aliens Among Us (which was a huge disappointment), I can say this from personal experience. None of it even touches anything that was on TV.
Are we forgetting the scene in the Death of Captain Jack where Captain John makes fun of the Blessing because it looks like a giant arse?
@@EditedAF987 that's what i was thinking of ahaha
@@elliebryson6045 sorry I misread your comment, thought you were saying that they didn’t make fun of it
The look on Gwens face 😂😂😂
I hope RTD brings Torchwood back we need the show for young adults and older adults Doctor Who has become a kids show
Maybe the 15th Doctor will face the families as an arc story
Doctor Who was so much better when Steven Moffat was head writer in my opinion.
Hopefully they'll post audio clips from the Big Finish adventures. Both the monthly adventures and the continued story have been consistently good (except for a few, looking at you Torchwood LA)
Face of Rex
I'm gonna say this out of all the new characters introduced in miracle day rex was my favourite
The Vaccine is coming and I’m,suddenly, getting recommended Torchwood videos! Hmmm!
Torchwood is amazing! I'm so glad it continues in Big finish.
I guess you could say Rex is…Captain Black Harkness
this season of torchwood left a mark on 9 year old me lmao. I haven’t watched it since it aired, but it had some real influence on my imagination lol. I was rewatching doctor who and had the urge to rewatch this season of torchwood and wow I feel nostalgic. so many memories from this. although I wish this wasn’t the end, I would’ve loved to see rex exploring his immortality

Still hoping for a Torchwood TV return 😊🤞🤞
Same. I haven't listened to Torchwood Audio yet but i heard good things about it.
I miss torchwood. That show never got a fare shake and between the BBC, Syfy Channel and Showtime they got hosed.
There are more seasons that have been made, but they're in the form of Big Finish audio dramas.
They only brought back Harkness to punch up Dr Who's ratings. BBC does not appear to have any intentions of bringing Torchwood back. And Big Finish may be under contractual restraints that prevent it from addressing Miracle Day in the Torchwood continuity.
9 years on and still no official answer. About Rex or plan B. :)
Hes in exodus code book for a bit mainly he's out hunting down the committee
@@benhummerstone7098 well it wouldn't hurt for him to suffice in an audio book or two. Lol
If your a fan of torchwood or not. It will never beat the classic episodes of season 1 and 2. Season 3 and 4 had a different vibe about it for the wrong reasons. Damn I miss Owen and Tosh. It's litterally not the same
Yeah I get what your saying about season 1 and season 2. They were so damn good. Personally, I actually liked the vibe that seasons 3 and 4 had. I often wonder to myself what children of earth and miracle day would have been like if Owen, Ianto and Tosh survived. I feel like if Owen was still around, he could have used his singularity scalpel to stop the bomb planted in jack from detonating.

Welcome to Torchwood.
Torchwood was an EXCELLENT show.I mean yes, it is carrying on in audio mediums but the show deserved a live action return
This scene was so intense! I really wish and hope that we get an explanation for that cliffhanger it's too good. 😊🤞
Even though Miracle Day wasn’t the best of Torchwood, I still really liked Rex and wanted to see how another season with him would have played out
Sadly, he’s joined Grace Holloway in We-don’t-have-the-rights-to-you-lland.
They throw us this planet sized curveball by making Rex a second fixed point and then..... they just end it! Dw continues with nary a peep from Jack or torchwood until 2021 and this huge blindside of character is just completely forgotten about.
It’s a real shame that the show was put on hold indefinitely, I would have loved to see another series with rex as a part of the team, he was a great character. The big finish stuff is cool but it just doesn’t live up to the tv show
Really? I generally prefer the Big Finish stuff to a lot of the TV series, especially Miracle Day.
@@DoctorDodge well maybe they could get the writer of the big finish stuff to bring back torchwood
I really wish they would bring this series back. I know miracle day wasn't a success but I know during this pandemic. Rewatching children of earth and miracle day was great!!
the miracle day season left a mark on me and my family back when it aired, especially me since 9 year old me found it creepy af. I wish more people had seen it & loved it
Maybe RTD will have the 15th Doctor face the families with Jack
We need to see about that "plan b" in a future series 5!
Series 5 and 6 and soon to be 7 have come out there a solid 8/10
@@forgiveme15 I have the impression that none of the Big Finish series follow up on this? Because Starz have rights to anything in Miracle Day and didn't license it, IIRC.
Plan B is to get speed force and try to kill barry allen
Even though I've come to appreciate this series more and more as it's pretty much the last series of Torchwood ever. I still wish there was some explanation to how Jack's blood is doing all this like did Rose/Bad Wolf do something to Jack's blood when she revived him in Parting Of The Ways back in Series 1 because I always thought it was some spacey-wacey Time stuff making Jack a fixed point in time.
But still, I love everything Torchwood including this. 💜☺️
I think it's because everything about Jack is a fixed point in time, leading to his immortality, so as his blood is connected to him, it is also fixed, so upon Rex receiving Jack's blood, it became a part of Rex, in turn making him a fixed point, idk if Rex will die soon as Jack's time runs out when he becomes the Face of Boe, so when Rex will die is an uncertainty
It's not the blood. Not specifically the blood that causes immortality. It's Jack's essence in the blood combined with Silurian/Racnoss technology. Jack talks about it in episode 8 he specifcally points out the blood doesn't make him immortal. Rex's immortal is a result of jack's essence inside him because he had jack's blood in Argentina. It's not specifically Jack's blood replacing Rex's blood making Rex immortal it's not that.
Thanks for sharing.
Great show that really got emotional. Shame they never got to follow it up.
i wonder if they’re gonna bring this up in the new years special
This is where Rex finds out that he is "The First of The Bo-Kind"
Totally Underrated.
blue eye man is jay garrick/Zoom from the flash and rex is David 'Future' Porter from 8 mile 2001-2
They left it on such a big cliffhanger
When the 12th Doctor told Ashildr about Captain Jack. I guess he didnt know about Rex since he never met him. Lol
What a Finale! Wonder what happened to Rex after that? I guess we'll never know!
According to the novels he’s in charge of the CIA still tracking down the three families. His work colleagues find it puzzling how he seemingly hasn’t aged though
Well he went crazy psycopath, got speed force and died trying to kill barry allen in alternate universe, turning into black flash
For those who think this moment is stupid and breaks the canon. It DOESN’T. Quit saying “Jack is a fixed point in time,” as if that says anything at all about how his immortality works. That description has never actually been explained in either Doctor Who or Torchwood.
But I’ll tell you some things we DO know: 1. They literally explain in the show that the Blessing connects every human on Earth through their blood, regulating the properties by which every human operates, and here Gwen even foreshadows Rex’s resurrection by saying she wished the Blessing would have reached out and saved one person (turns out it did - just it was Rex, not Esther); 2. Jack’s being “a fixed point in time” CANNOT mean that he is immortal because Bad Wolf made him an unchanging immutable entity, as he does age, and if he really is the Face of Boe he even dies eventually; and 3. Canonically, there IS something special and extra-powerful about Jack’s life force, presumably relating to his immortality, since we see that he is able to transfer it to the sex alien in the series 1 episode “Day One” with nothing but a kiss, and he is able to overwhelm the giant life-sucking demon in the series 1 finale with the sheer power of his life force to the point of its dying, with Jack also having an extended death at that point due to how much it took out of him - so YES, Jack’s immortality does appear to be related to his life force, and thus presumably his DNA and blood, too. And that makes perfect sense, because how else could a girl in control of time resurrect someone? The most reasonable explanation I can come up with is that she would infuse his life force with time energy, seeing as she used time energy to do everything else in her Bad Wolf form, too.
Bring Torchwood back! Even jack said him self in 2014 he wants it to come back so BRING OT BACK!!!!!
If Rex is immortal because he took Jack’s blood, wouldn’t his own blood have diluted it?
I think his immortality was more down to the effects of the blessing rather than just because of a transfusion
Which is actually implied by the show itself. Why people have such trouble with this I’ll never understand.
@@EditedAF987 Jack’s mortal blood needed to be deposited at both ends of the Blessing in order for death to be restored to the world. Wouldn’t the diluted blood sample at the Buenos Aires end of The Blessing have affected that?
@@stephenmurphy2212 I dunno, it’s a big magic rock, it can do anything I guess
The blessing is obviously the cause of his immortality so one of two things happened: the blessing isn’t intelligent and it thought rex was actually immortal since the blood poured from his body and gave it back OR the blessing is very intelligent and gave rex immortality as a gift for ending the experimentation and saving the world. That’s how I interpreted it.
Guys, you just referenced the 10th Doctor by having 3 of you say what.
And so we say Goodbye to Torchwood. Maybe one day it will return to tv
I hope jack comes back in revolution of the daleks
Simply Amazing! 👍
I was soooooooo bummed when they didn't continue another season. It was almost as bad as losing FIrefly.
Absolutely hated this ending. Jack is a fixed point in time, making about his blood was just stupid. Children of Earth is where Torchwood ends for me
Jack wasnt the only immortal in the show, there could be more aswell
We don't really know how that whole "fixed point" thing works - and nor do we know how powerful the blessing really was or the extent of its abilities. It's very feasible the Blessing couldn't understand Rex and Jack as two separate entities
What if, you consider rex saving the world is a fixed point in time
@@cacampbell1989 plus the blessing could have an effect on time itself
The way Jack's immortality works is his atoms return to his body (I think) or regenerate when they can't, so when Jack's blood was introduced to The Blessing, it tried to mimic the pull of his cells that were trying to return to him.
Is Jack's voice pitched up in this clip?
I think now RTD is returning to Dr Who he should bring torchwood back one final time.
With plan Bs reverse of Miracle Day. Were everyone is returning to life and they need to bring the team back to work out what's happening.
It should work since we know RTDs writing has gotten better with "Its a sin" And with John even stating it everyone on the team went to quickly.
It'll be a perfect wrap up since our old team would be back together. :)
LOL
I just realized...it's Teddy Sears, who also plays fake Jay Garrick/Hunter Zolomon/Zoom on The Flash
Great jack being immortal was bad enough now rex's immortal too. Man I bet season 6 was gonna be a real dozy.

Notice the mistake when rex is holding his phone sideways in the closeup and normally in the wide angle
The whole retcon about jack having magic blood and his immortatlity could just be passed on was so stupid and made no sense in the context of the established lore.
It was a dumb end to a series that had potential but massively missed the ball. Such a shame this is how Torchwood ended; maybe one day it'll come back and we can just kinda forget Miracle Day ever happened.
iT doesnt make sense, rose used the time vortex to revive jack, and i assume as rift energy inside him to make himself immortal. doesnt make sense it can be passed onto other people.
You completely misinterpreted the show, and completely misjudged the series
In the audios it’s revealed that Jack’s blood is a fixed point in time like he is (there’s a hotel room in Cardiff that had to be bordered up because his blood kept returning every time they cleaned it). So from this information I guess we can deduce that the Blessing was using Jack’s blood to redirect Jack’s connection to the time vortex onto humanity.
As for Rex’s immortality seems to be Blessing induced rather than caused by a transfusion
@ayy You could check my comment below, or I could post a whole essay explaining it here, as I have in the comment sections of some of the other videos from this channel. Which would you prefer? Also, notice how your comment assumes and doesn't explain anything either. The claims you made are not supported by the show itself as far as I can tell.
@@thehantavirus the rift is like a vibe check to the world, so I guess the blood of an immortal, no matter how they became immortal, is enough to reverse everyone else’s immortality.

This show was greenlit for another season, but Russell T Davies had to go back to the UK for a family emergency, and by the time it was all resolved he never returned to Torchwood to this day, for some reason. And now John Barrowman has been campaigning to get the show back, going to various TV networks and everything, and he says many have shown interest in getting the rights to continue the show, but he suggests the BBC or the Doctor Who showrunner or something won’t let it happen. Meanwhile, the BBC and showrunners a all day it’s up to RTD to bring it back

BTW, I'm assuming this scene takes place after the final scene seeing as she mentions waiting for weeks and Esther's funeral looks like it takes place shortly after... unless they postponed it until people stopped dying on mass from the Miracle ending.

@@dr.papaphilips3526 well beyond world leaders in the 'modern era' basic Earth history is pretty much the same in the Doctor Who universe (minus alien explanation behind certain things) and all we've got from 2020 in DWU is the newest season of the main show and Hungry Earth/Cold Blood so it's currently a fair assumption that the Earth in DW is getting fucked over by Covid just as badly as it is in the real world.
