      The likes of Liverpool and Manchester United didn't just click their fingers and become giants in the world of football overnight. They built the club up over many decades, namely on the back of a number of periods of sustained success. That is what made them the clubs that they are, and is what allowed them to spend sizeable sums of money.
      What Liverpool and Manchester United didn't do is go from being a third tier size to having the most expensively assembled squad in the history of football almost overnight simply as a result of winning 'the oil lottery', spending money they have not earned, and in the process breaking/bending FFP rules.
      Man City in their current guise are an abomination, one that if it was a movie monster would be killed with fire.

      @@Batemann1980 Clubs can invest any money they've actually earned. If any owner wants to use their club's income solely for transfers/wages, but use their own personal wealth to pay for operating costs, ground expansions etc then that's fine. However spending many millions, if not billions of their personal wealth to 'financially dope' their team/squad up to the eyeballs is not okay.
      Clubs like Liverpool and Man Utd had to build themselves up slowly to where they are, whilst teams such as Arsenal have shown that no team is or at least shouldn't be guaranteed to be on top forever, with the only exception to that being those clubs who are financially doped/state sponsored i.e. Man City, PSG, Real Madrid etc.

    Every fan and football loving person knows how city got to where they are today and that’s through money and buying there way there pure and simple.
    If the owners never bought city they would still be buying players like Sinclair and struggling to get into the top 10 every season like they was ..
    facts are facts without huge investment in the club they would not attract Pep Sterling Diaz KDB and players they have don’t look at city twice ..
    but it may seem I am knocking them but for the last what 4/5 season they have spent a hell of a lot of money but they have invested in quality which is why they are winning things ..

  • @rmccaw7
    @rmccaw7 Před 3 lety

    So long as the fans are where the money is really coming from, the fans will always be in charge of the direction of the game. But the money is coming from once, twice, sometimes thrice removed consumers of products advertised on football shirts and on TV. The betting companies, the drinks companies, the car manufacturers, the games companies, the mens grooming companies, the sportswear brands, the banks, etc etc. If Gillette's consumers stopped buying razors out of protest at the direction of football, it would have far more impact on the sport than any protest at any football ground would, or any boycott on any match.

    the lazy narrative of city not breaking transfer records, Simon is spot on here. 10 60-70 MIL signings is not right either Trevor. Not they've brought in Grealish for 100 mil, so your argument is over, They're buying success without building on a legacy, theres a reason why utd, liverpool, even arsenal are seen as traditional clubs. The PL allowed this rubbish into the english game, and then claim with the advent of the super league to favour integrity and competition, whilst allowing 2 of the top teams in the PL to throw money like that around, that and FFP disgusting. they'll never get the credit thet deserve for building it all on money.

Bring him in on a one year deal with the idea you just want him to kick the life back into you and WIN a trophy. Then if he’s being too much you let him go and bring in someone more stable to keep the momentum going. Don’t understand what winning a trophy can do for a club.
