- In this video I demonstrate the proper methods of cleaning and rebuilding a turbocharger . Turbos are pretty simple to work on with basic tools and skills. More and more custom motorcycles and cars being customized with turbos and superchargers, so it's good to have rebuilding experience for when they wear out and fail.

Bro pulled out every tool except the correct one. Love it 😂
“The right tools” 😂😂
Do as I say..not as I do :)
Does he have any proper tools?
Painful to watch use of vice grips and swiss army knife
Lmao he still made it work!
Left handed vice grips .....!!
BIG ERROR: turbines are balanced so you must mark the relative position of both turbines before open the shaft.
I was about to ask about this.
Holly shit that dishwasher needs a gold medal
+Arlind Sadikaj It has had a few bad ass mods thrown at it
+Ichiban Moto Could you make a video of how to make a bad ass dish washer?
+Ichiban Moto 5 out 5 ichiban moto stickers for that dishwasher!
Arlind Sadikaj is this for real, did you see his tension wrench WTF
The store was out of blue assembly paste now i have to use the white paste with red and blue stripe in it.
+Harry Nak overkill
It will probably work just as well...
I learned so much on turbos from watching. Out to get a left handed vise grip. Thanks Ichiban!
+PistnRods you should Turbocharge your SV ! that would be bad ass !
Is turbo fin need to be balanced if u open it?
@@billyarden9708 no balance really needed as the wheels are the same. However the clocking of the turbine wheel and compressor wheels relative to each other is important if you want to retain the original balance. Although if you don't follow that the turbo is unlikely to fly apart..it may...may...fail a little earlier though.
Had to show the boss this video, He didnt think ive been doing turbos correctly for a long time, now I was able to prove him wrong! Thanks!
I used my wife's dish washer like you said. Now I'm wearing it and can no longer get into my car, Turbo problem fixed! Great vid many thanks.
I would be strangled in my sleep if I put that in my wifes dishwasher. Guess we know who the real men are around here...lol
😂😂😂😂, you're very funny, I thought about the same thing when I heard him say'I will use my wife's dish washer' I thought are you sure?'...
That's what I was thinking when he said he used his wife's dishwasher, I'm surprised he could get away with just joking about that.he has more balls than me that's for sure.😢
That torque wrench; I freaking lost it😂😂😂
you can make one too. i have a video how to make torque wrenches
If someone used a utility knife to tighten the security screws on my turbo I think I'd go insane. Somebody sponsor this guy and buy him some tools.
I've seen worse...
Like the bit where he says "A lot of these are metric so make sure you use the right tools" Then he goes and uses mole grips and a knife to undo nuts and bolts. :/
even metric have a 0 tolereance
those are torx screws, you can buy them at any tool shop
in germany they do
My screwdriver doesn't have a handle, so I had trouble tapping it to remove the compressor. I had a look around and the only thing I could find was a frozen hotdog. After a few taps it came right off, plus it smells like hotdogs now! Thanks Ichiban!
+risc19 oh, bad ass! I love hot dogs ! especially with a few sporks of mustard !
Was it the big hot dog from Costco.. you can bang the turbo housing and the girl next to you with that hot dog...lol
The driver part doesn’t have to be in the handle to use the handle part.
Sheesh 🙄
Brilliant. I knew the dishwasher would come in handy for home turbo repairs.
My ex wife had turbo problems. She went to our local garage and the mechanic said it looked like she had blown a seal. No she said, i have just had an ice cream.
+Andrew Wilson hahaha !
Andrew- I don't get it. Just kiddin'. You know us jocular Canadians.
🤣🤣
His ultrasonic cleaner was really his wife's fun toy...
😂😂😂😂
We miss you Ichiban
this is the best tutorial i have found on rebuilding a turbo yet! simple and straight forward, now i can rebuild my turbocharger with my vise grips and scissors :D
This demistified turbos for me - it has given me the confidence to pull our broken laptop apart in order to conduct a full repair.
I give your dishwasher 5/5 stickers!
Awesome video. Best one for beginners on youtube. You make this look not scary. That ultrasonic cleaner is awesome.
Thanks for that Torque Wrench idea.............you just saved me a small fortune. !
Best short video ever . Thanks mate. Going to rebuild my Mercedes Benz 300 coupe turbo diesel now
i loved the great tools you used nothing better than using the right tools for the job lol great vid
that diy torque vise-grip ghetto rigged tool 😂😂😂hahah
Great info! And magnificently sarcastic I love it
A good balance of humour and useful info. Five thumbs up. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you. One of the best videos I've seen in a while.
Awesome video, I also like your tools great set up. You got skills
Very short and well-explained video.Thanks a lot.
So awesome. I get the humor. But i actually understood this while laughing at the dame time. Thank you. Definitely subscribing.
I love how you leave out the hard parts... actually getting the bolts off.. but hey very detailed and very good video!
Totally lost it on the timing marks 😂
This video made it seem so much more easy. You earned my subscription. I can say I was scared to do this. Now to rebuild my Subaru turbo that's been screaming at me for weeks FIX ME! while I periodically pickup and put down the rebuild kit. Yelling NO!!!! I'm not qualified!!
Thank you very much, Sir, for your expertise !
That was pretty funny. 😊 Also very informative!
At 6:03 I have the same torque wench. Got it from the Snap-Off truck yesterday.
I had to make mine... I have a how-to video here on youtube. The snap off truck has good ice cream and I look forward to hearing the music during the summer
I love your videos and your tools
Loved it. The right tool is the tools you have!
LMAO!! Clearest and funnest turbo rebuilt tutorial on CZcams!! Thanks!
haha! feel free to share it. :D thanks for watching !
as I am lefthanded I only have this left-handed clamps - now I have to find and get some right-handed for real bad ass work!
paul wyleciol you could problem get three or four righties in trade for just one of your left handers
I hope, dear friend, I hope!
As well as for my two lefthanded leatherman's, with which I repair most of my cars - as I have one metric and one of those illegal ones, like you bad ass seem to use)
Awesome video man fhanks
Funny as hell. Loved this.
thank you so much would have never been able to do this on my own.
Good work. A very informative video indeed. I'm going to take the turbo out of my car this evening and service is ready for the morning commute. I've got an important meeting first thing and I want to get to work as quick as possible so that I'm not late: it's kind of an interview for a senior manager position (it's a real big deal). Spending a few hours rebuilding my turbot should help me relax and make sure I don't flounder at the interview.
Este video es malo burro!
zen master fluchter !
you should polish the inside of your tires too! you know so the air flow is better inside your tire.
Dana Kelley
Check.
It's a shame the vast majority of people are right handed. It makes the market for left handed vice grips smaller. I'm having so much trouble finding one.
+Alban Gaval I'm left handed, been so all my life... needless to say, I've amassed quite the collection of left handed hand tools. I've got some spares I'd be willing to trade for a metric monkey wrench...
+jrmym2 if I strike out at tool jumbles, I just post wanted ads on crabslist
Alban Gaval i have 2... Ill sell you one for the small sum of 750.00.....american quarters only
jrmym2 the master mechanics tool I covert the most is his left handed drill & bits. I have searched all my life for that combination.
I have never laughed sooo hard your tutorial is absolutely perfect
Tool selection on point!
Best how to guide ever. Had me giggling. Commenters need to realise there’s deliberate added comedy value. Thanks 😂
Thanks for the white loctite tip.I've been using it on everything.
love that lefthanded vice-grip and top quality torque wrench ha ha. keep up the goood work
Mike- Would have been nice to get a heads up on where I should spend my hard earned gold coins on that new fangled Torque wrench. I'm sure Joes Garage would have one layin' around.
i have a video on how to make it
I love this guy
Excellent video, first of yours I've watched. I'm hooked, found you through Mustie1, I get the tools thing and find it incredibly funny. It's a nice counterpoise to the rest of the video, which is incredibly informative, and very well done. Thanks, I've some catching up to do...
I'm now totally inspired to make another video. thanks both you guys for watching :)
LOL... you made my day!!! I needed this
+Dru Bradley you are very very welcome !
"Make sure to use the right tool" xD
I love your Videos, ichiban.
Since 42 years, I work on motorcycles, it seems I did everything wrong, using professional tools
the proper tool is the one that get's the job done :D
Thanks for your video
I actually only watch your videos to hear you say 'badass'. It cracks me up every time!
+David Lowe should I sell mp3's and ringtones on iTunes ? ;)
Thanks, good video, while many commenters want to snip about tools and balancing turbos are pretty simple machines.
you are my hero awesome thanks a lot
Fantastic video.
Dry humor. I love that
Sir, You and Master Ken need to team up, his Kill Face and your left handed vise grips = Make my day!
I think i can fix my turbo now thanks alot for the video
love the video...thumbs up :)
Sir, i really need those left hand vice grip?? many thanks, you are bad ass!?
"Thrush washer"................ had to pause video at this point as rollicking laughter was inducing blackout like sensations.
Enjoyed your video, very helpful. I found it funny too using vice grips on nuts, and the dishwasher for parts!
love this channel
+Tad Reinsch thanks for watching Tad!
Nicely demonstrated, well worth the 5 stars... Have a great Holiday season and see you in the new year :)
+GTs Garage ,, and have a bad ass New Year !
Makes me want to rip the turbo off my car and overhaul it immediately. And it ain't even broke. Thanks.
Your choice of tools seems heavily inspired by McGyver though.
maybe rebuild it every other day
Lol ! I'll just add another turbo every month without replacing the previous one. In three days I'll go 250 mph.
have you seen those multiturbo compound setups with a large and small turbo plumbed in series? one to spool quick and the second monster for top end? I might add that to my Honda minitrail
Sounds like a plan to me. Go for it.
Gabor- Or maybe McGruber.
after I get the funny spot, now I can fully understand your video. funny and useful. Love your video, thanks.
keep making more! I give you 50 at 5 Ichiban Moto sticker!
+郭牧楠 thanks for watching and sharing !
Wow, this video was super usefull... The turbo on my front wheel has come loose, and I think that I would forget to make index marks if I hadnt watch the video... Thanks Ichiban!
can you please share your super sonic washer , how you built it ,, thanks
i will add that to the list
Great video!
Loving those precision tools man !!!
only the best!
Perfect!
thanks for the info. i have to rebuild a supercharger and this video will be so helpful..
i love superchargers
good to see you using the proper tools....
you are welcome :D
White locktite had me rollin!
amazing ichiban
unique way presented...washer machine, tools, etc...:)
Very nice torque wrench ..... that is a must have tool.
Weird. That looks just like the turbo on my GF's old Vespa. I didn't know you could use a two stroke turbo on a CB750. I learn something new every day around here!
Always thumbs up!
i like your pro tools
Gave me a good laugh at "use the right tools" as you grab some vice grips.
Beatiful 👍🏻💯💯
happy holidays my friend!!!
+johnnycactus0 and a bad ass Happy Holidays to you and Mrs. Cactus !
Your too funny ! love it =)
Ha ha ha awesome video, I'm going to rebuild my turbo exactly the way you did.
Thanks, a lot.
Tools used seems impressive just to make the video. But rest of the skill is awesome. Liked it.
Thanks, Ichiban! I was able to rebuild my turbin with a butter knife and a spork. Now my carpet is cruising.
welcome to badass awesome status ! :D
Hi Ichiban! I have 2 questions:
-what other kind of grease should I use to reassemble? What's "assembly grease" similar to?
-can you tell me the torque spec of the compressor nut?
Thanks, first time here on your channel!
Excellent improvisation- please put up a video on the torque wrench and the ultrasonic cleaner. Just wondering, do you have a home-brewed turbo balancing machine as well? How did you balance the rebuilt core?
i do have videos on both the torque meter and the ultrasonic / i still need to build a balancer so in the meantime, i had to have it balanced
I like your precision tool , and multiple purposes domestic dishwasher, including the clock ratchet, job well done ❤, kindly can we hear it running on the car 😂🎉 , greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
🤣🤣🤣🤣 perfect tool set bro even the “white lock tight” 🤣🤦🏻♂️💪🏽
By The way that's a GT1752S Turbo off a Saab 93 or 95, Thanks for the video, It's the only one on youtube showing
i love your tools and the whit loctite is really badass. Greetings from Germany your videos are awesome
thanks so much for watching and sharing Chris !
HAHAHA "like this one, off of my honda civic" good one ichiban!!! you legend
+roachie305 I'm still looking for a bigger turbo
I might be able to help you find one, but i just installed a new Vtec chip in my rx7 the other day, it was difficult, i wish i had your help.
keep on making vids man, you have my whole office in hysterics every day.
we give you 6/5.5 ichiban stickers. love your work
+roachie305 bad ass ! thanks for watching and let me know what you find ;)
Excellent. I had no idea turbos could be rebuilt! Are all brands rebuildable? Also I like the state of the art precision tools you use. Where do you get that torquified duct tape you use in the vise grip torque wrench. Am I correct that it is a left-hand vise grip? 😏
Thanks for showing the correct use of the left handed metric vice grips. Only a reputable professional would have such a precision instrument.
right tool for the job grandpa always said
your Civic must be badass!
+Bike Boobs Just need to clean it up a bit. I had to cut a hole in the hood .... so it can clear my turbo ;)
i died at "use a left hand vise grips".
+Ikara Pentiki maintenance is a treat when using the correct tools !
