In this weeks video, Dino from the HackaweekTV youtube channel sends us a set of old used rubber airbox velocity stacks off his Honda in for renewal. The parts are over 40 years old and hard as a rock. I demonstrate proper methods in softening old hard rubber motorcycle parts so they may become usable again. ( will of course not fix cracked or crumbling rubber )
If you don't have all of the secret ingredients available where you live, you can just soak your rubber parts in a 50/50 mix of pure wintergreen oil and isopropyl alcohol for 36 hours+ .
Please visit Dino's links below and tell him Ichiban Moto sent you !

Send me mail! - whenever there is enough stuff in the mail bag to put together a subscriber mail reading and shout-out, I will put up a video for you guys! Thanks to those of you who already sent me letters and gifts !
Send me stuff to use in videos !
Yes- I actually do send stickers out to those who contribute bits, parts, stuff for my projects and pretty much everyone who I talk about or thank in my videos. If you want to send me bike stuff, things for potential use in videos or tools to review etc. (or even just cash donations ! )
mail them to me:

Yes- you can just buy Ichiban Moto stickers - they are on ebay ! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
i love that this is actually recommended by google as a way to restore rubber
2:26 dry them out with the "clean" towel
😂. That towel was as dirty as the part when he removed it.
WHAT! I was taking notes until the hot sauce, noodle flavoring and a kettle on the boil came into it! Came for tips on how to restore parts... left with a hot snack!
hahahaha
😂👍
I literally laughed when he say clean towel and used dirty one 😂
I used this method on my 40 year old GL1000 which still had its original factory tires and it worked remarkably well!
I think i can get another 40 years of use out of them, thanks!!!
you are very welcome !
Maurice h Awesome that it rejuvenated your tires, but I still think you're safer changing them out.. 😄🤓👍
what?? why change!?!
he could turm them inside out - makes 120 years all together by the least!
@@paulwyleciol3459 your math sucks. It's 160 years of life boyo. 🙄
Do it the Burt Munro ( worlds fastest Indian) way, use black shoe polish, heheh. Might make it go faster
Although dimensional tolerances may be greatly reduced via shrinkage, female cafe racer mechanics can quickly soften hardened parts just by pointing and giggling at them.
+Mason Ringbinder LMAO!!!!
Mason Ringbinder Always works for me. 😀
Mason Ringbinder - dont you let them ...
Works like magic.. lol
Hot female motorcycle mechanic always seems to harden the parts I own.
Found this video when I was looking for tips on softening hard rubber.
You seem to be like a mad mountain monk. I love it.
the video is funny and very clear to understand. I am using all your technics on my honda magna. the bike isn't expensive but I love it so these technics are truly badass for a minimum of money. the way you repare stuff is totally new 4 me. awesome job
Ichiban Moto is one of the most reputable companies I have ever done business with. They are a model that all corporations should follow.
I sent your videos to my buddy in Castlerock Colorado, he said he now knows where his tools ended up.
+Ed Sunderland what an incredibly small world ! :D
How did you ever learn about rejuvenating rubber parts like this? Nobody else on CZcams seems to know about this. It is so wonderful of you to share this knowledge with us. You must get a warm feeling knowing how much you are helping so many of us. The Lord will surely reward you for your good deeds, and we are so appreciative for helping us.
Amazing! I thought I was the only one that used those ingredients. Secrets get out fast. Great video!
+Mike King I share garage secrets.. but not my squirrel pie
Where do I get those ingrediances
Can't I just use mayonnaise or sumthin?
Thanks for the mention....have a great Christmas and new year...keep up the great vids 👍
yes, happy new year !
This been the coolest collab in history of badass bikes!
+Jaime Flores collaboration has allowed humans to totally infest every tiny nook and cranny of the planet!
+Ichiban Moto Yep, here to stay like a plague or a virus and there's no cure for that
If you don't fancy following Ichibans precise & concise System - just chuck your rubber bits into some ATF.
ATF contains loads of "We Love Rubber!" Stuff because your average automatic gerabox is packed full of seals - so they invented a fluid that makes seals stay sealing.
15 minutes soaking in ATF is the "Answer" for those who clicked in really expecting a "How to" & left feeling like their nads had just been tickled..
You think it would work to restore grip to old sneakers that have hardened and come slippery?
Thank you!
Awesome! I especially love the gas can in the background during the gun powder fireworks megaflame! Nice touch...
great info guys. love the dry sense of humor also
Wow, amazing process, might be hard to get all those chemicals to do that, but it sure is worth it!! NICE job buddy!!!:) Cheers!!
Good one! That’s a great transformation!
Oh man that was worth the watch. Thanks. How have I not been subscribed before?
Ichiban, you are a brilliant genius!
+Jacob Frame thanks for watching and sharing :D
Wow. Super impressive stuff, Sir.
Love your SAAB hubcap!
I used to do the same on my old KZ rubbers but without the need for all those weird chemicals or hot water. Just soak em overnight in cellulose thinners. (Gunwash in UK) soak overnight, let them dry out (as they will have swollen bigger than orig) for 6 hours, job done, like new rubbers. Try it!
I'm sposed to be working on my bike... I'm laughing at these instead! Love it
I love my new rubber! Thanks Ichiban!!
+HackaweekTV fresh rubbers for everyone !
+HackaweekTV that CB is coming along nicely !
+Ichiban Moto Konichiwa Ichiban Moto San! As an industrial engineer, I must advise you that in order to reach the working temperature where you can manipulate the properties of the material (above the Eutectic Point)in a faster and more efficient way, you MUST add 5 drops of miso. In case you can't get Miso, you can always use sake but it MUST be of the Junmai-shu type, otherwise you will achieve a plastic deformation instead of an elastic deformation.

+Ichiban Moto Ha ha ha!!! That's a good one. Tu e il signor Dino sono grandi. Amo i tuoi video.
Absolutely amazing. I love your video.
+Ichiban san I have just discovered your channel and subscribed. It's really good. I particularly enjoy the subtlety of your humour. Keep up the good work and I hope you get a tv or film deal very soon. All the best and I might even get some of your apparel.
Great share thank you I will keep in mind when i cant get rubber parts for my classics
Great work Sir, a real solution.🇬🇧👍
I love the chewed tools 🤣. Keep it up these are awesome.
I'm worried that if I watch enough of these videos and I come across an auto issue I will subconsciously try to fix it with ideas from your channel.
+L-dubwesson bad ass awesome !
Just send cash
Damn y’all had me for a minute. I wish it was that good
This is truly incredible
Thanks for the info but that Hi-Tech carburetor adjustment build is over the top, top notch precision stuff man. Thank you
you sir are modern day alchemist!
You my friend are a true craftsman.
Badass....
whay tank you sir!
What's the latest news
Random video to find when I'm trying to find out if I can make hardened black rubber pliable again, lol. The search goes on. Sub'd for the humor.
Awesome fix!
A link on how to get the ingredients to do this would be nice.
Laziest generation in human history... and they don’t even realize it!
Great info and thanks for the laughs too. :)
That was hilarious and education at the same time.
Great video, thanks for the info
Sporking work ichiban moto !
+TT GarageRat it's that a fitness show on BBC ?
Love that SAAB wheel cover
Hugely useful!
That was Amazing ! ! !
Way to go #Hackaweek...Dino
Nice work
"You sent me nice chicken pot pie"
"... That was squirrel..."
"...Just sent cash..."
Best line ever now some ichiban moto stickers my way or sent over squirrel pot pie Mmmm😂😂🤗🇺🇸
great video thank you
Great trick there. Sadly I'll have a hard time getting the cristalizing mix stuff. Thanks for sharing anyways.
Deano & Ichiban you are all we need on YT! BADASS!
5:54 bad ass is correct. I love the metric screwdrivers, hard to find in Arkansas. Glad I found your channel man.
+Lil Doggy you can make the screwdrivers, I have a how to video on that topic here
+Ichiban Moto haha I saw that!
"So I was working on my cafe racer today..."
Back in the 90's I was using an old rubber cow teat liner as an adapter to connect a funnel to 5/16 copper, and accidentally discovered that POE refrigeration compressor oil is a rejuvenation for rubber. Worth trying out should you run out of chalk tablets.
Did he really put taco bell mild sauce in that?
I have to suscribe now.
My God! This worked a treat on my friend's KTM seat. After years of fertility treatment, just one ride after the annealing process on his old seat and voila! Quadruplet daughters! (I haven't told him about the potential ding his riding time is going to take, but one thing at a time.) Thanks, again, Ichiban!
thumbs up for creative intro
Man that’s awesome. One question though, is it ok to not cover the rejuvenating mixture with a Saab hub cap? I only use Volvo nowadays.
Recushilization point... nice.
Very cool!
Ichiban you are the best. I had fight with my wife last night, I saw your video and now my jaws are hurting after laughing so muchhhhh.
good vid cheers
just thinking if you heated the last batch of chemicals and oils they would soak it up and might last a bit longer
keep up the good vids mate
Never knew you could soften old rubber parts.
Hey, thanks for the great video.
Just to confirm what about those Rubber parts that get gooey and melt off when you rub them. Will this solution fix that?
Thanks in advance.
wow like magic!
Can this system be utilised to soften up aged tires? I have some 7.35 farm-tractor tires that I want to fit on my Kawazuki 390 but they are a bit firm and cracked everywhere?
got the same bike with the same problem, gonna try this
"Never touch these without an oven mitt"
::picks it up with a gardening glove::
Seriously though thanks for the video. This is cool to learn.
3:22, love th gasoline can behind the flaming coffee pot! Outstanding that man!
I had to instantly like the video when i seen the hot sauce 🤣🤣🤣 u had me dying!
This is great, could you list the ingredients for the plastizer? please?
So if I would want to do this for record player idler tires, should I use the same sauce packets or something else?
That's pretty funny, you had me going for a while. Except for the wintergreen oil, the active part of you potion, the others do not exist.
Trolling can be an art form. You are a true artist. So much work to create the labels and the entire atmosphere!. Those antique labels, i mean, dang! keep going! think I'll order some stickers for my various restores - "by Ichiban Moto"
So what was that syringe filled with that you did not identify directly before dumping in the ramen flavoring packet?
Awesome stuff! I also liked that ichiban metric drive you sent to your buddy!
4:37 - Taco Bell Hot Sauce is the actual "secret ingredient" here people!
Thanks now my kids are repeating “bad ass”
Mine too. But they are 35 and 20 years old.
You can use a fine polish, like plastX to bring that surface up to par.
1. What is the brand of the rubber rejuvinator? I went so far as to image search rubber rejuvinator products and couldn't find that bottle. Is it just Fedron?
2. What did you squirt in from the hypo needle?
3. How many hot sauce drops (Mikuni stuff)?
4. How much "hot sauce"?
5. How long does this treatment typically last? I would like to get at least a year of softening out of the process if possible. Do you know? I suspect my application is MUCH less demanding than yours, now tremendous heating, no monster tension (stretching) stresses.
If you (or someone else that has done this and knows) would take the time to answer my question, I would be glad to put another comment describing if, and how well it worked. Thx, and thx for taking the time to share this via the video. Current "restorers" use stuff like brake fluid, which to me doesn't sound like that great an idea, although the rubber parts in a brake system don't seem to deteriorate soaked in it. Still....
I am going to try this on a very old typewriter platen, as re-rubbering them is rather expensive (about $100), and a pretty long turn around time, both of which I'd like to avoid if I can. Obviously the "treatment" will not be able to penetrate both sides of a thin rubber part, as it does with your part geometry here, but I don't think that's an issue, as I really just need the outer 1/8"-3/16" to soften to make the necessary difference (not ripping through typewriter ribbons and paper, and not sounding like a woodpecker on steroids tapping on a plastic tree.
Hi, I watch your instructional video's all the time and I am almost at the point of becoming a master of mechanical engineering due to your instructions. I have not yet earned any money from do work to your specs , but obviously this will come in the future once word gets around that I can replicate your type of work.living in the united kingdom we have never head teachers of your kind to show us how its done ..We are now transfixed at your instructional video's and to watch this rubber re-juvinator has been fantastic.could this also be applied to old cracked tyres ?
"Just send cash."
Wiser words never spoken.
The solution to any problem in the modern world.
Cash monies.
Could I please get a list of ingredients. Would be fun just to try it. Thanks
i was looking how to soften some rubber for a project but the rejuvenating part got me all confused and laughing with hot sauce and some kinda instant noodle paste hahaha
great show! :D :D :D
+TomanPCM why thank you so much !! :D
i build a lot of race motors and bikes think fun is the game love the chanal
Will this work on rubber machete handles? I have an older machete I want to bring to life for display; and yes it is dull.
Where can I purchase one of those metric carburetor tweakers? I just got a new water powered carburetor but all I have is a standard tweaker.
phenolsodadetramine, how to get a hold of this stuff tho? google search didnt leave me with much info :-(((
You know, and I don't want to make a whole big thing about it or anything, but I race Internationally and specialize in the Top Class at the High Bank Turns of Daytona. I've been in the ICU at Halifax Memorial Hospital since the big crash. I'm trying to get the Cafe Racer bent back into place and straightened out. Railing around the High Bank Turns at Top Speed, knowing that so many Sweet Chicks are watching, and finishing on the Podium and celebrating in the Winners Circle is what it's all about. You know, and I'm sure everyone remembers, Barry Sheene met and married Stephanie McLean, the 1971 Penthouse Pet of the Year. I didn't see her there this year but was hoping to meet the Stunning Wanda "Jelly Fingers" Welch. What a Sweetheart and was the February 1978 Teazer of the Month in Screw Magazine. After I get done with Physical Therapy I wouldn't mind Calling First for Sloppy Seconds with her. Anyway, when truing the rear wheel I found that the tire tube was punctured in several locations. I'm hoping that the crew at Itchy Bonn Moto can work some of their Chemistry Wizardry on the tube, with the annealing and rejuvenating process, and get my bike back on the track next spring. If Itchy can get the tube soft and supple again, something similar to what I can only imagine Mrs. Jelly Fingers has on the other side of that string bikini, then I can apply another set of patches over the other many patch repairs. Also, a little secret, I dust the tube with Nickel Town Customs Synthetic Baby Powder to minimize scuffing and oxidation. Thanks to my good friends at Itchy Bonn Moto. I'm hoping to get a few Stickers out of the deal too. And, please turn the tube repair around quickly and bill me to my home address in Winnetka. Thanks Itchy.
Impressive. Don't know whether to clap or cry
does this process slightly enlarge them? I have an old o ring in a carb that doesnt fit snugly anymore, in rehydrating them will they expand?
Nooo this is a joking video!!
WOW!!!! MAGIC
Would this work to restore a harmonic damper? The rubber already has a few cracks and is dry and hard but otherwise intact.
What is seal oil and replenisher and what do you put in the syringe
This is a hoot. There is no good recipe without a little hot sauce! Hahahaha
Actually I use Mothers Back to Black. Restoring plastic or rubber, soak in Mothers till soft. I would do it the Ichiban Moto way but the dog chewed up my last spork the other day and I'm afraid to just guess at the measurements. Great video :)
+ww321 I might have an extra spork here somewhere...
you're slick
where do you get "Genuine mikuni plasticizer" ?
