I have always found Sarah very likeable, warm and humorous. Yes, she made big mistakes but I never could have taken the abuse she had to suffer by the press often without any fault of her own. And she had to face it without the support of her husband and with two young children. Is it a wonder that she turned to someone else? Not ok but understandable.

Diana and Sarah had both deep insecurities as a result of being abandoned by their mothers at a fragile age. Charles and Ann had been left behind when their parents went away too but it was more expected.
Diana wasn't even really abandoned. Her mum left the dad who then sued for sole custody and forbade their mother to see them out of spite. And because your happiness as a woman was unimportant in the 60s and how dare you leave an important man, the courts allowed Earl Spencer to traumatise his kids to spite his wife. Just to stay fair here.

These people are so fill of it. Diana came from aristocracy, a well respected family name of Spencer. A name they didn't have to change unlike the royal family.
Don't compare them.....they were very different which was a good thing!
The public often favored Diana because she was very glamorous and had the “model” figure (tall, lean, long legs), and she had fashion editors and designers work with her to make her look her best. Sarah was the “girl next door” who loved to have fun, and she enjoyed her life. The sad news that Sarah didn’t have the fashion designers and editors and stylists that Diana had to help Sarah look smarter, so she often looked frumpy compared to her glamorous sister-in-law, and Sarah’s battles with her weight didn’t help.

In some cases, they provided their services for free in return for publicity. Also, Diana had more money than Fergie, so she could afford to access some of the best stylists. Fergie admitted in her biography that her family was land rich but cash poor. At the point where Fergie married Andrew, Andrew was already further down the pecking order when it came to who was in line for the throne that he was becoming a minor royal, so being the Duchess of York didn’t have the cache that it once had.

Diana’s mother left Diana’s father Johnny because he was abusive; she took Diana & her brother with her but lost custody. Diana was hostile to her mother the rest of her life for leaving her father.
Actually Francis Spencer was having an extramarital affair which broke up the marriage, this upset Johnny Spencer but he was not known to be an abusive man...he did fight her in court for custody of his 2 younger children and won....Francis’s own mother testified for her son -in-law...A woman caught engaging in adultery was very frowned upon at that time, the mans wife sued for divorce as well...
i knew many of my friends whose parents have split...and their lives were normal...they made themselves tops and looked after their own families...and sibblings.

Funny. I live outside of England but I see this as repeating with the media treatment of the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex. Always the comparison. Those of us that watched the first have been saddened by the second. So sad.

I dont think Diana was paranoid.You cant trust people and when you are a public figure,you have to be especially careful who you trust. I'm no fan of Diana but its unfair to call her paranoid. Also, its been my experience to be friends with someone for a long time and it just took one incident and the friendship was ruined and I was often the one able to get past it but other people wouldnt. I'd say it is common for friends to break up because one or both cant make up. What happened between Diana and Fergie was bound to happen.
They exclusively like to call women this! When I was in my early 20s, my ex regularly called me paranoid when I said he was cheating on me. I felt it! He tried to get me institutionalised and I doubted my own mind... A while later it turned out he was cheating. 'The other woman' confirmed when the affair started, which was around the time these feelings started happening. My intuition was turned on me.

I remember watching a live report from the arrival of the royal family at Ascot. The commentator said that it's beautiful and slim princess Diana stepping out of the carriage, only discover it was Sarah!! He could not say this was fat and ugly Dutches of Pork now, could he?
That was so bizarre to watch and I wonder why don't we see this clear example of the press side taking !! Diana would sometimes pass down clothes to Sarah, and obviously they were of very similar size, but Sara was forever called fat. How dared they really? She could have sued them, and she should have! Diana had put on weight at some point in her life and was never called fat. That treatment was despicable.

Diana never did that to Fergie. Why do I feel I know? Because it never was mentioned. Diana also received a lot of bad press, right up to her death in August 1997. The press was unrelenting, inhuman and cruel. Even the the royal family after her death underestimated the love from the people. More of the responsibility from the royal family should have been placed on Charles to heel for the good of the monarchy. Maybe then he'd grow up and his marriage a chance of being a happy one. Too many women in Spencer were cruelly let down by their husbands.

People the bad editing is to avoid copyright. They are doing it on all of these videos, so just listen to it if it bothers you. Just a FYI, they know how badly its edited and they like it. The worse its edited the less likely they'll get hit with copyright. Its that simple
This documentary would have been so much more enjoyable if it were to have been edited with more respect for it's subject matter. I am not sure why the story of these two wonderful and more deserving women has been posted as such a HORRIBLE audio/visual nightmare. PLEASE correct it so as to deter others from immediately shutting it down and moving on to a more comprehensible and less dizzying video.

Someone needs some serious editing education. The first of your films I thought that someone uploaded the file without editing it; flipping images, people speaking and someone else’s image inserted, quotes flipped and eventually flipped to right, readable format. Your design format is just so disjointed.

Some book I read a million years ago seemed to suggest that Fergie wasent allowed to be a lady-in-waiting to the Princes of Wales as it was felt she would be a bad influence on Princess Diana.

This is the second of these videos I've watched today by this person. The first one was so distracting with the words coming out before the lips move and trying to be artistic putting everything in a mirror image backwards it was ridiculous. With this one I just feel like I'm getting whiplash trying to follow the clips that are put up so fast unchanged like a shutter on a camera. To the person that makes these do you even sit down and watch them after they're finished?
All these have come from either ITV or Channel 4 documentaries from decades ago on UK tv. I doubt whether the creators have much knowledge of the English language. If you want to see the original documentaries go either to the ITV hub or My4. But as with all the terrestrial documentaries, they're not all that accurate.
Editing does need some work. These two were very different personalities but complement each other. I do think Diana was cruel to Sarah and given more time they might have mended the rift. I remember both weddings well. Diana seemed out of her league with a man car too old for her. BTW I am the same age that Diana would be. Sarah definitely seemed a better fit for Randy Andy. Both fun loving partiers and free from the stress of the CROWN.
It was sad to see both marriages fail,but I was happy when PA let Sarah move back and they seem very happy now. I think Sarah understood PA better than the rest of us. It was obvious to me, with a brother the same age as PC, that PC would expect Diana to look the other way when he cheated. She might have been happier if they both had looked the other way. It was hard to tell at the time from US, if the breakup was precipitated by the press and courtiers leaking the affairs. IDK.
