An adventurous, contemporary woman, Sarah Ferguson seemed a promising addition to the royal household.
A witty match for Prince Andrew, an old friend of the late Princess Diana and country sports enthusiast alongside the Queen, the possibility of going wrong seemed far-fetched.
However, as time went on, her choice of clothing, hobbies, holidays and the design of her new home caused a whirlwind of media and controversy. Her fiery, spontaneous spirit was deemed too much for the more rigid institution and what was expected of her position.
The Duchess continued to make irreversible mistakes, ending in a partial exile from the royal family and a great deal of pain and struggle for many years to come.
But unlike the late Princess of Wales’ tragic tale, Sarah survived and managed to reinvent herself time after time.

I have always had a soft spot for Fergie. She is loyal (which is sadly lacking in many these days) and has been an amazing mum too.
I've always liked Sarah. She's not the most diplomatic and had a talent for putting her foot in her mouth, but to me she always came across as authentic and down-to-earth. After initial enthusiasm, she was treated abominably by the press. And yet she never pulled out the victim card, complained or talked badly about anyone. Even now that she has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time, she continues to smile. A strong woman.
Hilarious when she pushed down his pre prepared speech. Andrew was Hilarious too.

I've always liked Sarah, and she was not treated well. However, she has stood the test of time has made her own very lucrative living, been a wonderful mother, and a fantastic support to Andrew, in spite of their divorce. All this, and two bouts of cancer...She may be one of the strongest members of the RF
The RF made the same mistake with Sarah that they did with Diana - they just 'Tossed' her in the deep end without any help - unlike how they did with Catherine. whereas the Queen, Sophie, Camilla & William mentored & helped Catherine have a smooth transition. Andrew being away for most of the year with his Naval duties didn't help things.
Well, many of us prefer down to earth people. It is not all about stiff upper lip and pretendy work ethic.

Have always loved Sarah! She is a wonderful person, mother, grandmother and friend to all. I am proud of all her achievements! ❤😊❤
Sarah is very loyal. Stood by her dad when he “retired” from polo club. Her mom leaving must’ve been devastating. Mom moved to Argentina.

The Late Princess Margaret having that affair with Rodney Lewellen (spelling) was pretty shameful... Margaret was a cougar before the word was made popular for a woman in a relationship with a younger man...! Still I do have a tiny bit of sympathy for her.. Being denied the chance to marry the man she loved and forced to call off her engagement to Captain Townsend all because her sister the Late Queen refused to give permission... just because he happened to be divorced! I think that was a wound that the late Princess never recovered from!

The Queen had no choice, it wasn't her decision regardless of how "The Crown" portrayed this event.
In anycase,
Margaret could've married Townsend, but didn't want to give up her Royal privileges.
She was also pretty nasty to Diana.
What I liked most about Sarah was she never had mouthed the Royal Family
Sarah was guilty of being boisterous, and making huge errors of judgement, and who amongst us can say we haven’t been guilty of at least one of those. She has never betrayed one single Royal secret, and for the lashing she took, it must have been tempting, but she has remained loyal to the end. I always liked Sarah, and still do, so good luck to you Fergie, I think your girls have done you proud, and in return you have been an amazing Mum to them. Keep on being yourself, some of us love you for just that.

The Duchess of York has always been one of my favourite Royals, very down to earth, when the chips where down she pulled herself up and got on with it, no whinging or moaning about woe is me, didn’t trash the Royal Family and always accepted responsibility for her mistakes or wrongdoings. A loyal daughter in law to the Queen, and personally I would like to see her and Andrew get married again they are right for each other. I hope she fully recovers from her newest battle with cancer and has many years of happiness in front of her 🇨🇦.
A truly remarkable woman. She owns her mistakes & moves on. Making a successful life post RF without telling lies or betraying anyone.
Well she did want to get money for a meeting with her husband. She’s not exactly perfect
@@elizabethwilk9615 no-one is perfect but she hasn't made $millions by bad-mouthing the RF, divulging private conversations & whining about how hard her life has been. She was also there for Queen Elizabeth in her later years providing companionship after Prince Phillip died.
Are you aware Her late Majesty Queen. Elizabeth gave her LOYtS of money, twice, because she lived way beyond her means. She lived far too ostentatiously. And appeared crass occasionally . One wonderful thing, she was very loyal always, to Her Majesty the Queen and Windsor family. She never spoke a negative word about any of them, not then, not now.. She was particularly faithful to Diana, whom I believe emotionally used Fergie at times. At the end of Diana’s life, she was not speaking to Fergie! .
It’s amazing the transformation and evolving Fergie has done over the span of her public/royal marriage life. Makes you wonder what might’ve been if Diana had been alive to do so as well.
Hey! Hope and pray life becomes a little more considerate for Andrew, Sarah and family.🙏

Excellent! Absolutely fascinating! Amazing footage! This entire Documentary was really enjoyable & very informative. Duchess Sarah is lovely & such a joyful, exuberant person. Sarah is & always has been truly delightful! She is very loveable & so down to earth. How the "Press' or anyone could make fun of Sarah or deride her in any way is totally incomprehensible to me! To do that shows such pettiness & nastiness. It is mind boggling to think that some would sink that low & be literally "scraping the bottom of the barrel' by their choosing to pick on & bully such a wonderful person as Sarah. Despicable! The fact is, Duchess Sarah & Prince Andrew made such a wonderful couple too! I truly hope they will get back together again as husband & wife as they always seem to still love & support each other throughout the years, which is really lovely. @rowley8833 I am aware of what Sarah's correct title WAS. However, that is NOT her correct title now. In fact Sarah does NOT have a title now! Sarah is not even considered a Duchess now. I CHOSE to call her 'Duchess Sarah' out of respect & courtesy to her. So, the 'correction' is not even warranted in the first place anyway, as we are referring here to Sarah, in the present not the past. Due to that fact, it is clear & obvious that Replies of this kind are NOT really showing being sorry in correcting anyone. Because, it seems that, if this were actually the case, one would not go out of the way to do that in the first place. One would just say something positive as a Reply to the original Comment, which was kind & positive, instead! So, perhaps when Replies state 'sorrow' for correcting anyone, one might want to take a closer look at that & especially check one's facts first! Or just keep silent! @@Annie4AlwaysThe Royal Household refers to Sarah as “Sarah, Duchess of York”. She lost the HRH following her divorce but she’s still Duchess of York. Same with Diana. She lost the HRH following her divorce but remained Princess of Wales. It is simple to understand. Two wonderful ladies.
@@oliviero.m750 Well apparently it is NOT "simple to understand," as there seems to be such misunderstanding about this, especially from the 'self appointed 'correctors' who, once again, do not check the facts in the first place! So, let's try this again shall we? Once again, as I previously alluded to, the FACT is, Sarah is STYLED as the Duchess of York. However, that is NOT her official title. Also, the original Comment courteously & respectfully called Sarah 'Duchess' anyway. so what is or should be the issue? That is all that should matter. Royal come back? Her and Diana should NEVER EVER have been let go! And treated so horribly. I don't blame the late Majesty entirely, I blame the so called 'advisors' and so called 'protocol'. I was a teenager when Dianna and Sarah entered the Royal family. They were both a breath of fresh air. As time went on, MAINLY THE PRESS (and certain members of the Royal family), were HORRIBLE TO THEM BOTH, ultimately playing them against one other and against the public!! It was horrible. Blind Freddy could see just how badly they were treated. So, It's nice to FINALLY see a positive doco about Sarah, and I am glad His Majesty has welcomed her back into the fold ❤🇦🇺

I always liked Sarah much better than Diana who I thought from the start of her relationship with Charles was a phony & as events turned out, she was!! Sarah has gone through a lot of criticism mainly by the press & so I love seeing her outlast their derogative & vicious attacks on her. I also love that down through the years that she & Andrew have remained good friends & brought up the girls together. Had not Diana turned on her, & also had the Queen made sure that she & Andrew spent more time together as a family, then I very much doubt that what happened would have occurred at all. So I wish both her & Andrew all happiness for the remainder of their lives.

I like that Sarah was just a "normal" person. She was a breath of fresh air for the monarchy and really was (I think) an asset.
Well, she wasn't. She misbehaved, not only concerning the "toe sucking" incident with her "financial advisor" but she was undignified and behaved like a kid in a candy shop whilst a member of the royal family. She was not called "Freebie Fergie" for nothing.

The media slammed Sarah and she has proven that she has talent what a revenge to become a millionaire through her hard work and still a great advocate for her charities.
The money she earned was for herself and was largely given to her by rich people she had befriended. She could have been a wealthy woman now but she spent frivously and for decades. Nothing to admire here!

Sarah was a very pretty Country Rose. Sarah has made mistakes and owned them everytime, of which I greatly respect, but reuniting with Prince Andrew, I am not so sure of, but wish her well.
I was there in Londonno that day -she was a good girl. Susan Barrantes her mother was good. Father not do good. She was confident sporty and good now her two daughters have the same spirit! Good on them!

I loved watching her and Diana have so much fun, especially during Ascot when they both poked their umbrellas in peoples bums, she WAS a breath of fresh air, too bad The Firm didn't realize what a gem she was back then. I am really happy King Charles is allowing her back in the fold, especially now that she has been again diagnosed with cancer. The Queen and Prince Philip really punished her for 30 years for that toe sucking incident with John Bryan. Prayers for Sarah.

She has been a good mother and the Queen would have respected that. I have always had a lot of respect for Sarah, I think she has always done what she thought was best at the time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing for all of us but we make decisions armed with the knowledge we have at thar point in time ❤
