Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Caravan Of Garbage

- In 2011 the great minds over at 20th Century Fox decided to reboot the Planet of the Apes franchise but make it actually good. Aiming to be a retelling of the ape uprising and the origin of Caesar, a super intelligent chimpanzee played by Andy Serkis. Just apes and mates running amok. Thanks for checking out our Caravan Of Garbage review

#planetoftheapes #kingdomoftheplanetoftheapes - Zábava
Caesar screaming “no!” Is one of my favorite movie moments of all time. This was the last movie my dad and I watched together before he passed, and I’ll always remember in the theater, him giddily saying “holy crap” through giggles. Anytime I see that scene now, I get to hear him again in a way.
That’s beautiful. So sorry for your loss
Well now I'm a little sad.
God bless his soul. (I predict this is gonna be the top comment, and if it's not that's a damn shame cuz I'd like your dad's memory to live on longer through this.)
It's a shame I never got a chance to see it in cinemas. But catching Dawn & War more than made up for it
That’s telegraphed in Escape from the Planet of the Apes when they say the first ape to speak said “no” to a human
The apes were lucky that Lithgow gave Caesar a regal name when he was a baby. Imagine the same trilogy but he's named Mr. Bobopants or something
That first trailer for Dawn would be way less ominous if Jason Clark said “I want to speak with Captain Nannas”
A revolutionary ape leader called Bananas McBananaface? I’m kinda digging it.
"We must stop this Ape Rebellion by killing Mr Bubbles!!!"
@@Maxisamo1 that’s the version of the story where Michael Jackson voiced Caesar
@@Frank-vn9rg if the possums rise up I’m blaming you
James Franco being solely responsible for the doom of mankind just kind of makes sense, life imitates art
James Franco killed Hollywood when he hosted the Oscars.
It’s like the funniest thing of the franchise. The world would’ve been perfectly fine if James Franco didn’t do something stupid. 😂
He wasn’t tho lmfao clearly didn’t watch it James Francos character after his father passed stresses the importance of slowing it down but his boss said no then his college who should have quarantined but didn’t caused the outbreak
lol did you watch the movie?
It was big business and capitalism that caused it
The suits pushed too hard and quick for processing the drug
1972 - CAESAR IS A CIRCUS PERFORMER
2011 - SERKIS IS A CAESAR PERFORMER
"It's like poetry; it rhymes."
That’s funny.
Tom Felton delivering that cheesy line is a really underrated moment, when this was in theaters the whole theater chuckled when he said it but then ceaser says NO and you could hear a pin drop in the theater. Everyone was like holy fuck lol completely takes what would have been a cheesy reference and uses it against your expectations to elevate its own material. That one NO instantly became iconic
The "NO" is also a reference to the originals, because the first ape who stood against his master said "NO" and the word "NO" is forbidden in Caesar's town during Battle.
@@DeltaSpartan141 thats awesome, this how a reboot is done right.
The best part of this movie is Draco Malfoy shouting "Rodney".
I prefer when Del Boy fell through the bar
He was looking for James Franco's neighbor Dr McKay. He needed a Puddle Jumper fixed.
When Draco yelled Rodney, he delivered the line with so much passion, so much force, he almost passed out and his face turned blue, which is why the working title for this film was actually “Blue Rodney”.
RODNEY!
Rodney
If the franchise continues this naming convention, eventually we'll get "Planet of the Planet of the Apes"
We should simplify by calling it “POPA” or “POT-POTA”
"Multi-Verse of the Planet of the Apes"
Eventually the monkeys will colonize more planets so it will be Planets of the Apes
It's actually "Knight of the Planet of the Apes" and it will have a mysterious masked ape called Ape Knight who wants to kill Caesar's descendandts for some reason
Eventually it will reboot with just the title "THE PLANET OF THE APES" in all caps, then "THE PLANET OF THE APES II"
"I'm monkey racist"
A bold line that just escapes being able to be misinterpreted.😂
James REALLY playing with fire there.
Had the same thought 😂🫣🫣
If you think humans are monkeys. Whose the real racist?
love to see recognition of maurice as everyone’s favourite secondary character in this franchise
I still swear to God that was a real friggin' orangutan.
yeah i love maurice such a cool right hand man for ceasar, was abused by humans but unlike koba still saw the good in them.
Me when Maurice isn't on screen: Where is Maurice? Is he safe? Is he alive?
@@tobiasbuhl2037 ive always seen maurice and koba as different sides of the same coin, meant to mirror each other in the way theyve reacted to their experience with humans, especially since theyre the smartest apes in the films next to caesar
orangutans are just chill like that. ( Unless you obviously do something to anger it but cmon why be a jerk to a cool monke? )
It's such great story-telling to have Koba be a bonobo instead of a chimp. For those that don't know, bonobos are akin to humans even moreso than chimps because they have more communal social structures, they are less violent than their cousins (chimps) and they even have sex for pleasure outside of mating season/ heat. Having a naturally peaceful species have such disdain, spite and hatred towards his human counterparts (a lot of which deserve it) is such great non-verbal story-telling that some may not even pick up on if they miss the line or don't know the difference between bonobos and chimps. *chef's kiss*
The next villain in the franchise has also been confirmed to be a Bonobos as well; his name is Proximus Caesar.
@@kade-qt1zu They really enjoy greek/roman history lol
@@kade-qt1zu Maybe the real message in these movies is just that Bonobos are evil
Bonobos and chimps are both part of the same genus (pan). Bonobos are the closest species to us.
When the concept of currency was introduced, they immediately began prostitution and scamming each other 😂😂
They generally have a middle part/balding appearance.
They will also f you up and go bananas.
Just some general chimp bonobo lore trivia for you folks off the top of my head (:
Bonus fun trivia fact, humans are the weakest apes but are stronger than every monkey. A human is stronger than a baboon and a mandril. Humans also have stronger muscles than chimpanzees, however our ligaments and tendons aren’t strong enough to deal with that, so we can’t use our muscles to their full power. That’s why epinephrine lets mothers lift cars off babies, your muscles can do that but you’ll tear the muscle off the bone doing so.
Chimps ligaments can deal with their muscles so they have more use of their muscles. Their max strength is weaker than ours, but we can’t reach our max strength
@@Yan-tz9pn Technically, Bonobos and Chimps are equally closely related to us.
My favorite part of the "NO" scene is when they show the different reactions between Tom Fulton and the other apes, and you just see the one Gorilla give the most "OH FUCK" face like he fully understands that Caesar just spoke human words and is like "That should not be happening"
In addition to Serkis' portrayal of Caesar, seeing John Lithgow's character's mental decline in this movie really help to set this apart from being a no-brain blockbuster. Anyone who has dealt with someone with dementia will see this as an honest depiction of the condition. Relative lucidity followed by forgetting how to use everyday objects and trying to get to a job they no longer have. Having these moments in films doesn't detract from the main story, it makes the audience more invested in the characters.
It also helps you relate more to Caesar being protective of him after being raised by him and being aware enough to know that it wasn't his fault that he got in that car.
Caesar was one of Andy Serkis' best performances. Plus, it's great that he finally got to work with other motion capture actors.
4:36 "My father taught me many things here - he taught me in this room. He taught me: keep your friends close, but your bananas closer."
That banana was certainly a fruit you couldn't refuse
"Just when I thought I was out... they peel me back in."
Banana Closer, coming to theatres this fall.
@@CaugheyMachine😂
You think julius caesar got a call when his namesake went bananas?
Omg one of the coldest lines is
“What happened?”
“He spoke.”
🔥 🔥 🔥
Honestly I think the “Keep your stinkin paws off me!” Line helps accentuate Ceasaer’s no. I remember the first time I saw it my mom was laughing at the line, and then things went dead silent when Ceaser yelled “No”
Yeah, Felton delivers the line and he sounds sort of pathetic which makes Ceaser’s response much more powerful. And from that point on for the rest of the entire trilogy a human would never look at ape the same way
Ben and Lawrence *really went bananas* with all the ape-related clips and gifs on this one!
Donkey Kong breakdancing.gif
I see what you did there.
James, you had the chance to call it "damn dirty trivia"
That would have been too good, it has to be shitty
@@Mentherex how about "Trivius Caesar"

"Grab that 'chimp' you guys..." would've been gold
Do you think these guys got a call when Mr Chimpday and Apeson when on a rampage
Absolutely. Claire (mrs sunday movies) also gets a call cos James and Maso don't pick up the phone (cos they're very very rude)
*went bananas
Mr Chimpday 😂
This reboot trilogy was absolutely one of the best reboots of all time.
I initially scoffed at Rise OTPOTA especially when I see James “pineapple express” Franco casted as a main character, but when Caesar yelled “NOOOO!!” and shook the theater quiet, I thought man, they got something here.
Then the ending credits visualizing the simian flu spreading, and the sequels, made this so damn memorable and genuinely good.
Yeah I think Franco was extremely miscast in this.
Also a rare case of the third film being the best of the trilogy.
I watched the 1st one for the very 1st time in jail, that was quite a meta experience
@@kennywilkinson913 that sure sounds like an experience! Hope you’re doing better these days my friend!
@steverogers7601 100% and I swear that's the 2nd positive comment (not related to the other or in any way expected) I've had on youtube today, love to see it, have a good weekend bud.
Watched this for the first ever time recently. The first “No!” by Caesar was kino. Also it’s crazy how avoidable the outbreak was if the dude just properly quarantined himself
Honestly that's something that I liked so much about this movie. There are so many things that went wrong simply because people messed up, and it was still done in a satisfying way
Well if we've learned anything from the most recent and ongoing pandemic, it's that a good portion of people would refuse to self-quarantine as a principle.
Watching the end credits of Rise hit a lot harder after COVID started to spread in 2020.
@@EzaleaGraves Yeah, but I mean people wouldn't be that irresponsible in real life during a pandem... oh.
@@robcain8865 Actually, you are completely right. When watching the end credits, it did seem eerily familiar...
@@robcain8865it made me realize that the outbreaks in zombie movies seem more plausible than I thought.
The amount of people who don’t care to follow safety precautions, safety recommendations, or be considerate of others because they perceive them as “rules trying to control me”, is astounding.
These movies are so underrated. The third one is a little weaker comparatively, but still a solid conclusion, but the first two are some of the best summer blockbusters of the 2010’s. Caesar is genuinely one of the best characters from that decade too, he has such a definitive arc, and he has so much complexity for a mainstream movie.
Oh wow, I'd say the opposite. I think the third is the best.
I think second is the best but 3 is very close behind, I would say this one was by far the weakest of the 3 though still great.
During Covid I moved back home from college with my parents. It was tough adjusting to living with my dad after being away for so long. One Friday he asked what I was doing, and I said “I don’t know, I was thinking of watching the newer Planet of the Apes” movies. His face lit up, because he watched the original ones back in the day, and we watched it together.
For the next 3 Friday’s, we watched a Planet of The Apes movie until we were all caught up. It was pretty fun, it gave us each something to look forward to at the end of the week, when there was nothing else to do but be at home
10:10 “He did not grunt. He articulated. He spoke a word which had been spoken to him oh time without number. He said.. No.” -Cornelius
I wish I could have heard Maso's famous Jay Baruchel impression. I remember it being spot on.
I always did love the moment at 10:20 of the gorilla reacting to Ceasars "No". Such a look of "MY KING 🥺"
buck saw "god" that day, no wonder he was willing to take a bullet for caesar
Every time they said "they went bananas" I lost my composure and started giggling like an idiot
For some odd reason I was allowed to watch the original Planet of the Apes with Heston when I was 5 or 6. I’m not exactly sure my parents knew what it was all about.
That scene with the shrivelled, dead female astronaut gave me nightmares for years. Literally. Years. Thanks mum and dad.
They’re just a couple of blokes having a go🤷♂️
Fair dinkum
Shout out to Tyler Labine (patient zero chimp handler and man who spared Caesar) and anyone in the comments who is a fan of his. I mean, this is Dale from Tucker and Dale vs Evil! Deadbeat was also a great show! Not to mention all the memorable small parts he's had over the years. Love seeing this guy turn up.
I adore Tyler. I'd seen him in small parts and he was in Reaper as Sock and stole the show quite often but when he was in Tucker and Dale, he and Alan Tudyk have amazing chemistry and it's one of those movies I can watch over and over and never get tired of and whenever I have someone over who's never seen it I immediately get snacks and put it on. He's also just really cute and I'd totally marry him if I got the chance 😂
Sock from Reaper
Within the first 2 minutes of this movie, I fell more in love with Ceasar than I have with any fictional character ever.
My wife and I recently did a marathon of *all* of the Planet of The Apes movies, including the old one. The old ones were, surprisingly, pretty OK. The wild tonal shift between movies was a little jarring, but the films, individually, were much better than I expected.
I watched this Apes trilogy last weekend just so I could watch these Caravan vids.
I was shocked at how good those movies actually are.
I’m glad the boys are finally doing a retrospective on Peak Fiction: The Trilogy
My favorite character in this movie is Rodney from the Ape sanctuary
Not talking about Planet of the Apes in Ape-ril I feel was a missed opportunity.
Thank you for shouting us ouroboros out. We have been underappreciated for too long.
This trilogy is easily one of the greatest trilogies of all time! Here’s hoping they don’t totally ruin the new ones coming out
Brilliant call back to Roddy Macdowels Cornelius character telling of how an ape rose and spoke the first word which was “NO”.
I live in Uganda right now and I have gone chimp trekking. They're really really human, the way they behave. It's freaky, it made me feel weird watching them... But also just an incredible experience
I didn’t know about the Alt scene where Caesar takes down the helicopter until this video, and yeah that’s a significantly worse ending. Caesar letting Koba take his revenge against humanity is Caesars biggest mistake, instead of trying to reason with Koba he allows the cycle of hate to continue and creates the Koba that rebels against him in the next movie
Who’s the better actor? Andy Serkis pretending to be an ape? Or James Franco pretending to care about others?
You missed a trick there ... "James Franco pretending to be human" was right there for the taking
@@nonProfitJoeRo Then we're forced to ask ourselves, "Who's really more like James Franco, the apes, or us humans?" I think that was the overall message of all the movies. Even the ones from the 70's.

The scene where the Apes crossed the Golden Gate Bridge was pretty cool.
I liked that scene as well.
I think the common thread in the comments is we all saw this with our Dads and forged some pretty memorable, even silly and fun memories, especially during the "NOOO!" scene, and that's pretty cool if you ask me.😅🙌🏾
I love how common it was for the “NOOO!” scene to make so many theaters go silent in the moment.
We had quite a few folks giggling throughout the movie because of “look at the monkey do that thing” then the “NOOO!” scene happens and the movie suddenly commanded a level of respect.
Such a great scene!
This was the only Movie my Dad didn't sleep through even part of that I was aware of. Rest in Peace Dad.. to another movie, he's not dead i just want him snoring in the other room.
Woof.. this comment is going to age so well.
My favourite line is when James Franco says “get this monkey a salad, a Caesar salad!” And then there’s a laugh track of monkeys howling
They're back, ladies and gentlemen, and they brought monkeys.
I loved the bit when Caesar grabbed Draco Malfoy and said "And I... am all the Stupid Monkeys"
When Caesar yelled, "NO!" it was the first time I had heard pretty much an entire cinema audibly "gasp" 😂
I was expecting more Souvlaki Hut references 🦍🌯🪨🌴
For some reason James' constant shout outs are killing me lmaooo
This is probably the most underrated trilogy in recent times. It stands toe to toe with nearly every other one to me. Also interesting that Matt Reeves is the one known for this even though he only directed 2 and 3, sorta like Greengrass and the Bourne films
This video has such a more manic energy than other Caravans Of Garbages and I'm here for it
Ape energy baby
I’m really enjoying the editing for this series of movies already
Caesar screaming “No!!!!!!” has to be one of my favorite moments in all of cinema. It’s so rewarding and an amazing moment for his character.
I remember when this came out, I was the only one in my family who wanted to see it. I had to beg my mom to take me. I missed the first twenty minutes because I had to comfort her over because of the opening poaching scene. Good times
I hope you dealing with her emotions was not a regular thing, kids shouldn't have to do that for their parents
I genuinely thought this was gonna suck.
I saw the trailer and rolled my eyes “ugh another prequel”.
But I ended up seeing it because we had nothing else left to watch, and Caesar screaming “NO!” and the ending simian flu visualization really kicked this into something with great potential.
Then they went ahead and made legitimately good trilogy.
The porch screen also scared me as a kid.
@@drewpeacock9087 nah it was nothing like that, she just loves monkey
I knew i wasn't the only one who noticed the plot similarity to Deep Blue Sea.
Y'know, the filmmakers were actually aware of the similarities, which led to them making the working title of the film, Deep Blue Harvest, due to the fact that they were harvesting ideas from deep blue sea.
coincidentally, Blue Harvest was also the working title of the original star wars from 1977. not a lot of people know that though.
This one's a 10/10. Presenting: pace and jokes, balanced with content was spot on. The editing: was a dream. Top work, lads.

This trilogy would be seriously almost perfect IF ONLY James Franco hadn't forgotten how to act for the entire runtime of this first entry. He's absolutely wooden, but it's a testament to how fucking great the rest of this movie is that it works anyway. The following two films are fuckin out of this world without a weak link in sight.
The fact that Maurice and Rocket survive the entire trilogy brings me so much joy, you could even say it makes me go bananas
I wonder if Andy Serkis ever thought he would be the " Let me borrow $20 till tomorrow " gif .
biggest accomplishment of his life haha
I swear the editing on this is fucking on point. All these background videos got me cracking up every single time. Props to the editor!!!!!
Every time I watch a movie from this trilogy, I'm reminded that all of this happened because one guy wanted to cure his dad's Alzheimer's.
Damn I wish this was a longer vid. Well done as always. Well done lads.
I have never been more excited for you guys to do a series of movies! One piece of trivia that I think you guys should have talked about is the research and development that this movie required. The director and Andy Serkis actually spent 6 months in the Congo alongside other chimps and gorillas! Andy actually ended up befriending the alpha chimp named Mavuno. At one point during their interaction Mavuno shared a rare blue colored banana with Serkis. This paired with the English translation of Mavuno lead to the working title of the movie.... Blue Harvest.
Bravo
I feel like this one involved doing a little research, in which case I admire the extra effort.
Of the remake trilogy, this one’s my favorite, Caesar has the biggest character change & arch, plus it’s cool seeing the apes in our modern society causing havoc
When cesar screams no, its impactful, iconic, and when i saw this in theaters it made everyone stand still. You could have heard a pin drop in that theater. So a grwat scene.
I'd kill for a caravan of garbage of all 5 originals. I liked them when I watched them and loved spotting the references in the new ones
6:45 "So what are we, some sort of Planet of the Apes?"
"It's Planet of the Apin' time."
My favorite line from all of the planet of the apes franchise is when one of the Ape general yells "man these bananas are good!" I believe Brian Regan wrote that classic line.
This video is especially funny, loved the editing. The Franco gaslighting had me questioning reality by the end
I’m so excited for two more caravans with tons of donkey Kong edits and music
Maurice is the best! I love him. The little edit with the crown on his head was perfect. Best Ape in the whole franchise.
These movies are absolutely fantastic, glad ya’ll are covering them
11:22 I was going through this video and was disappointed at the lack of Danky Kang music. And then this section pops up and completely redeems the video. Good job Ben and Laurence!
My dad saw the original Planet of the Apes in a drive-in theater (yes he’s old, and yes they’re obviously bad) he notoriously hates most modern movies. He liked these ones, and he also liked New Wonka
The original movies are incredible and not “obviously bad.” Especially the original which is a gold standard for sci-fi films.
My wife had zero knowledge any Planet of the Apes movie. I mean she vaguely knew there were some movies with those titles, but nothing else.
So last weekend, with the new movie coming out I said we should watch the modern trilogy so we could go see the new one in theaters.
When Ceasar yells "No!" She looked at me wide-eyed and said "Holy shit he can talk!" She had no idea that Planet of the Apes was about talking Chimpanzees. I wish I could experience her true shock and enjoyment of that already amazing scene.
Shout out to Laurence this was a banger of an edit

Their neighbor is Rodney McKay in SGA. Should've brought back the Rodney bit.
The start of a great trilogy.
My only nitpick is this should've been called Dawn and the next one should've been called Rise
