War for the Planet of the Apes - Caravan Of Garbage

- With War for the Planet of the Apes we got the conclusion of the Caesar storyline. We're now in a full on primate/human conflict with Caesar seeking revenge for the death of his wife and son against Woody Harrelson's Colonel J. Wesley McCullough. On top of that we have the evolution of a virus that renders humans mute leading up to where we were in the original 1968 movie. Thanks for watching our Caravan Of Garbage review

Their silence on the fact that there's a guy who yells Rodney in Rise of the Planet of the Apes is deafening
Too true. How dare they.
Mr Scumbag Movies is nothing if not revisionist
feeling alot of anger in this thread guys
Justice for Rodney
RODNEYY
Poor Rocket. Starts out as Ceasar's adversary, first to bow to him, becomes his loyal right hand, loses his son to the cause and makes it through the series, but no one remembers him.
He's also the hottest ape
I think Rocket should have been more prominent in Dawn, because Koba killed his son and he only ever had a single line in that movie. I'm glad he was more present in War, sharing moments with just Caesar and being instrumental in the escape.
Amen
Pepperidge Farm remembers.
And so do I, I love Rocket
Justice for Rocket, he was good fella!
REMEMBER ROCKET -his son died too :(
Rip ash
Still love how Rocket went from a jerk in the first movie to Caesar's ultimate bro. Like how he's intimidated by a gorilla in the first movie but in movie 3 he faces off against one to help Caesar.
Mason, Chimpanzeesus was right there
Chimpanyeezus
That “it will be a planet of apes” line from the trailer was certainly something.
I hate how they spoil things in trailers like that
“What is this? Some kind of Planet of the Apes?”
@@Matt-xc6sp "This is Cornelius! He has my back!"
...I just realized that the guy who can climb anything is literally every ape
@@noisepuppety’all apes must be crazy! *black skinhead starts playing*
Been waiting this whole series for the Souvlaki Hut gorilla to appear and when he did I screamed yeaaaah like James did when the robot guy said i think you should move in Justice League
I was too lol 😂
🦍🌯🪨🌴
So glad they included it!
“I like to move it move it”
-Robot, Justice League
I finally watched all of these and I can't believe three movies about CGI apes made me cry multiple times. Caesar accepting it at the end is genuinely one of the most heart-breaking things I've ever seen.
Also I don't know if it actually means anything but it's interesting that Caesar's first word was "No" and Maurice's was "Nova". E: nevermind I was wrong.
He actually says "Run" in Dawn
@@TrumanTheGrayMerchant Ah right, I forgot about that
Conflict and survival led them to try to speak. Kind of like a reflection of how evolution pushes species forward through environmental challenges and changes. Pretty neat.
And yet, Disney still can't make "live action" Lion King movies have the same level of emotion.
Caesar seeking revenge at the end was pointless tho he said himself the humans were about to destory themselves. Had he just ran away with his apes, he wouldve been alive to teach his young son how to become his successor
I've always wondered if the virus actually does make humans decline cognitively, or if it just makes them mute. Nova learns sign language, which suggests she retained her capacity for language
I think it's more mute. I think that's why Woody Harrisons character was crying so much and drinking, because he realized his son that he killed was still 'smart'.....he just lost the ability to speak.
@geomfilms ooooh, that's an excellent observation. 👌
Spoiler Alert
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes shows there's some human survivors that retained their Intellect, while some pockets of humanity did become primitive.
@@matthemming9105 I wish I came up with that but I just read that theory like a week ago. Makes a lot of sense to me.
if that were the case, it doesn't make sense for the humans in kingdom to be as primitive as they are, looking like cavemen and moving like animals and shit. Humans would have just figured out a different way of communicating
'Gated Community of the Apes' is a great title btw
Country Club of the Apes
Penthouse of the Apes
All Inclusive Resort of the Apes
Superyacht of the Apes
Michelin Starred Restaurant of the Apes
Definitely, I would watch that
I also stand behind "Planet of Planet of the Apes"
It’s known as Bay Area of the apes
We've had an 100% uptick in Smosh Cameos here boys
I instantly came to the comments after I saw shayne and Trevor😂
We have the occasional Shayne and Damien in edits of old COG’s too
@@Joyboy9891did we ever get Damien?
@@dylananderson310that’s fun
@@dylananderson310 I noticed that. That's why the back to back Shayne+Trevor and the Jared Leto sketch felt like someone behind the scenes might be binging Smosh content. I wonder who 👀
the CGI/motion capture stuff in this movie, to this day, is utterly *perfect.* it just looks flat out real. you're not watching a cartoon CGI animated ape voiced by Steve Zahn, it IS Steve Zahn in the form of a talking chimpanzee. it's genuinely incredible.
Fun-fact: it's likely that Maurice was named in homage to the actor MAURICE EVANS, the once well-known stage actor who played Dr. Zaius in PLANET OF THE APES and BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES. People may also remember Evans from BEWITCHED (the original TV series), ROSEMARY'S BABY and Steve Martin's THE JERK. He also played The Puzzler on the original BATMAN series.
Very true-he was a versatile and charming actor.
I remember watching the behind the scene for Rise on the blu ray and they said that he called Maurice because of the actor who play Dr. Zaius. Also fun fact: the reason that that drug that they gave to Bright eyes who pass it on to Caesar is called ALZ-112 is because the running time for the original planet of the apes is 112 minutes.
It's not "likely", that *is* the reason he's called Maurice
You got me!
Opened with fun fact then proceeded to NOT make a blue harvest joke 😂
@@thedon-e6514 I was so scared reading it i'll be honest
I never thought it until recently, but I really loved how much influence Koba has over this trilogy. I mean Caesar is still the main focus of these films, but most of the events wouldn't of happened without Koba existing. It was his incident in the lab that caused the Simian virus to spread through the world and remove humans as the dominant species, his actions in Dawn caused a military squad to hunt down the rest of the apes, and even Caesar himself is haunted by his worst enemy's ghost in his desire for revenge.
The apesurrection bit is the new "guy who shouts rodney" and "corn of coblin"
Or “heres the thing”
Did you know some people thing Glass is frozen air? Not me though
Rodney is nowhere near corn of coblin or any of the OG ones.
These new blue harvest bs ‘jokes’ aren’t amongst the gods like anto k legend of the game, Michael Joseph Jackson etc
@@Yan-tz9pnok grandpa let's get you back to bed
@@Nodiee1 yikes.. such murican humour lmao

Stop crossing the Rubicon Caesar. Stop crossing several Rubicons.
Rick and Morty ahh humour
Do you think the VFX guy from the first dr strange gets residuals for inventing what has become the default cameo portal?
lol. no.
I wish.
Disney will unalive him in the back of the head and throw their body in a bin before she ever sees a dime
Standy-Uppy Horse! Souvlaki Ape! All we needed was "Guy Who Doesn't Know Anything About Star Wars" and genuine optimism for Batman v Superman and this would have been a classic James and Maso adventure.
Gotta love the Bravestar bit.
Knees clicking into place.
The Rock can play both of them.
@mathiaswalker350 I would pay good money for "It's the Rock and he's Native American now, I guess. With a standy uppy horse also played by him."
it also needed one, Michael Joseph Jackson
He lies about Joker.. he lies about Nova.. he lies about Blue Harvests...
I'm grateful that James goes so far to keep us on our toes.
The CGI in this film especially on Maurice is just jaw dropping. 100 percent photo real in my eyes
'War for the specific geographical region of the Apes'.
I can't wait for Dawn of the Planet of the Gated Community of the Horses With Thumbs
Definitely going to see that one in theaters
Horses bit was a banger 10/10
can't wait for next week when JAMES AND MASON WILL CONTINUE THE APES SAGA, WITH ALL 5 OF THE ORIGINAL MOVIES. it's gonna be great!
I absolutely love the classic segment “War for the Trivia! Ape Attack OH NO!”
Woody’s character was right in a sense like you said that human’s become the ape’s cattle. When watching war and thinking how it could lead to the situation seen in the original planet of the apes or even kingdom of the planet of the apes it’s quite disheartening to think that the apes actually go a bit evil once Ceaser departs.
I think what makes these movies so compelling is that every opposing sides viewpoint is kind of valid. Like leaving aside their methods everyone's fears and ultimate goals are actually kind of right.
Kinda like real life armed conflicts, eh? It’s nice to appreciate good writing like these films have when there’s so much of the opposite lately. Where the writers’ opinions are shining through in ham fisted tone by writing one side as complete mustache twirling idiotic villains with no logic and just love being evil and the good guys are all Mary Sue characters that talk like teenagers at a mall food court.
@@itsd0nkYeah but here both sides are right, In real life conflicts Usually originate from greed, Lust or Bitterness
I took a sip of tea just as James said 'poo flinging' and I NEARLY DIED!
5:55 'Judgement of The Planet of the Apes over here' was so funny 😂
The worst drink to snort laugh during.
I have a bad cold right now and Planet of the Planet of the Apes made me laugh harder than it should’ve. Also so glad we finally got a Souvlaki Hut ad reference. Very interested to see why you’re covering Max Payne.
"I'm not running around half-cocked like an apesurrection" gold haha
I got excited when James started talking about the movie title and then mentioned Revenge Of The Jedi! For a second I thought Blue Harvest was coming back!
I love every episode I see, from Caravan of Garbage A to Caravan of Garbage Z.
11:44 it hurt me that they didn't mention rocket.
These films don't get enough love.
Surely the next trilogy should be 'Planet of the Horses' where the horses rise up against their ape owners.
And wouldn’t you think silverback gorillas might be a teensy bit too heavy for the average horse?
Had a laugh when you guys cut to VFX Artists React (I'm one of the editors). Funny enough, this weekend's episode will cover the Apes films--and we touch on Totora!
Love your work Dean, you were Luke Skywalker that one time!
4:07 Lawrence spotted!
13:45 Lawrence spotted again!
Random Fact: Woody Harrelson and Karin Konoval (motion capture Maurice) already were in the same movie before, Roland Emmerich's 2012 (2009).
Them forgetting that Rocket has been there the whole time too made me angrier than I should admit
2:33
thanks a lot Ben & Laurence for this nightmare fuel image.
Maso saying “fuck that” is unsettling
When?
It's like hearing the 1 f-bomb in a PG-13 movie.
Timestamp? Just finished the video and i didn't catch it but that would truly be something to behold
4:30 when James is talking about being a self-taught virus expert
I'm very excited for the 5th installment in the franchise, Slightly to the Left of the Planet of the Apes
Still Pretty Much Just Adjacent to the Planet of the Apes
Having just seen this for the first time, it did bug me that bad ape has this emotional moment where he changes his mind about going back to the prison because he has a child that might be there, but it’s never touched on again and he’s mostly comedic relief for the rest of the movie
I thought the dialogue implied he was asking caesar if he thought he could still save his child. But it's a little unclear
The idea that they've done as well as they could with that villain and have no real need to bring him back is utterly wild. Don't let star wars get wind of this, it would destroy their model.
In my head canon, Ben and Laurence are committed to have a doctor who Easter egg in every video.
You talk about the multiverse of timelines but leave out the musical….. I LOVE YOU DR. ZAUS!
I was initially disappointed in this movie. The name, marketing, and prologue all push it as way more of a war movie than it actually is. Rewatching it, knowing what to expect genre-wise, I loved it
It was certainly more about concentration camps than most people expected
Concenapetion camp
Happens sometimes. Once you cool down to on disappointment when feeling like something didn't live up to the name, you'll find you'll like it better under a more when you take it for what it is. Same with that Scott Pilgrim show. Gave something I didn't know I wanted to see and I very much value it as a companion to the original book series.
I strongly feel this is the superior film from this set, which also makes it the very rare case of the last of a trilogy being the best one.
The war was for Caesar's soul. He became the villain of this movie, and the struggle within, to retain his "humanity,” his compassion and empathy, became the real battle in the story.
James saying Revenge of the Jedi of the Planet of the Apes gave me false hope that he was bringing the Blue Harvest joke back
already started using "WRAP IT UP!" like this you guys are to good 😂
Max Payne! The maddest Max there is!
The amount of clips to clarify how we’re wrapping this series up is amazing. Good job editors!
"It makes perfect sense because it's the same word " ahh Mason you're ahead of your time ❤
This movie was an absolute masterpiece, love seeing you guys break it down in Caravan of Garbage!
A step down plot wise from the previous film imo mostly because the prison break ape escape stuff was kinda clumsy but overall still great.
The cinematography is masterful especially some shots on a beach and that crossfade/matchcut at the end was brilliant
A great cap off to a great trilogy.
I really love this video of a review by two friends on the CZcams platform on the topic of the movie the War for the Planet of the Apes!
The reveal at the end that it all takes place on a planet which is full of other planets that are all planets of apes was amazing and it really made sense.
Just found your channel and I'm already hooked. Love your commentary on War for the Planet of the Apes, can't wait to see more Caravan of Garbage episodes!
Possibly the best COG I’ve seen yet … and I’ve seen them all
I REMEMBER ROCKET!
I love that one of the editors is just a massive fan of smosh lmao
Can't believe its been 11 years and we STILL don't have a BigSandwich website where I can see videos early and get bonus movie commentaries, podcasts, and lets plays. It's absolutely ridiculous. You're a couple of bloody jokers, mate.
Nah, they're all right.
The donkey Kong music was a nice touch
These movies are so good. Absolutely incredible. Interestingly. Originally the virus was going to spread by a cloud of gas a'la the amazing spiderman. To make it distinctive the virus was going to effect plant life as well as animals, and because of the blue tint of the cloud, the original working title of this film was Blue Harvest.
I can't believe James was so dedicated to this review that he also slowly lost his ability to talk over the course of the video.
this entire video was worth it just for the Bravestar reference at 2:24
Now I can’t get horses walking upright with hooves and a thumb playing video games out of my head. 😂
Didn't anyone ever stop doing the war and say the apes can just have it?
That’s not how armed conflicts tend to go. People on both sides keep losing family and friends to the conflict, which feeds more indoctrinated combatants to each side’s forces. Just look at the Middle East conflicts for perfect examples. It’s becomes statistically impossible to completely end the conflict because you’d need virtually 100% of both sides to agree to let bygones be bygones and then have zero violence between both sides for at least two generations to not have the slightest transgression reignite the entire war.
@@itsd0nk I want to see the war room scene where one of the generals says gentlemen, for all the fux I give, the apes can have it
... And they can't fight about it because this is the war room
Well, I think at the end of it, none of them were saying anything. Just kind of grunting plaintively.
Rise of the Dawn of the War for the Kingdom of the Planet of the Planet of the Apes that shout Rodney!
Loved the return of the Souvlaki Hut Gorilla, that was legendary!
I just got to work and settled at my desk so the timing of y'all posting this is *chefs kiss*
Love the second Smosh reference at 8:26 😂😂
A Mad Max movie is coming out so they're doing the Max Payne movie. The tenuous links are back! Just like Judge Dredd and The Mask
You ain't wrong brother!
If only there were an Entourage episode where Vinny Chase were up for the role of Mad Max...
We demand looney tunes back in action!
Appreciate that deep-cut throwback to Standy Uppy Horse
Love the Smosh reference at 7:54 and 8:30. Someone’s a Smosh fan!
SAME, i literally had to rewatch it because i thought i was seeing things
I will now stay prayed up.
They missed the fact that when they built the live sets they had to cut up all the flowerbeds in that area. These flowers were unique in that they were coloured blue. Hence the working title for the movie: Blue Harvest.
The subtle Donkey Kong music in the background is much appreciated. Thematically appropriate
Whoever samples the random youtube clips has amazing taste
Woody Harrelson is really good as Matthew McConaughey in Reign of Fire
more like apeocalypse now
Love the Smosh reference at 7:54 😂😂😂
Now i want a series about a horsesurrection
Equestriapocalypse Now.
I already know Mr. Sunday is the type of person to say, "HAHAHA Terrific!" about a horrible zombie virus, so that doesn't surprise me. What surprises me is that 2,727 other people liked the post. They need to do some soul searching.
11:08 He got them to the Great Valley, the apes will have all the tree stars they can eat.
One of the best modern times trilogies!
If there was a Planet of the Apes TV series, presumably it aired every week, making it a Weekly Planet of the Apes
these last few videos really use some good Smosh clips at the right moments. Good job Editors
You guys always pull clips from some of my other favourite CZcamsrs like Corridor, Aunty Donna and Smosh and I'm here for it 😂
Never heard of this channel til now, just been on an ape binge, I loved this trilogy, personally the best of all the films, was so good, and the CGI for the apes looks so real and yet so little budget compared to like marvel films
Wrapping it up quick this week.
Intelligent horses ruling over apes/primitive humans was done by Jonathan Swift in Gulliver's Travels. I'm holding out for Planet of the Corvids, detailing the struggle of the intelligent uplifted tribes of ravens, crows, jackdaws and magpies against their arch-enemies, the parrots.
Maso making some great ape sounds. Cast him in the next War for the Dawn of the Escape from the Rise to the Beneath on the Battle of the Apes Escape
13:29 was a good one
Stellar. Please og films caravan of garbage please.
I thought nova was setting up another blue harvest joke
Got me!
I was already had my eyes watering when Ceaser was dying, but when Maurice started talking at the end, I cried.
Something I noticed that I find interesting is that the apes are evidently getting more advanced as the films go on.
Like it's not a sudden jump or a continuous intelligence like in the original series.
Each new film there's more talking from the apes, and in the most recent film trailer it's complete sentences instead of sporadic words.
The editing for this vid deserves more attention. 😮💨👌
7:54 Excuse me, what is Trevor from the GMM crew doing in a Caravan of Garbage video? 🤣
I loved these movies.
Good points and well made. You can tell you've been doing your own research...
