GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra - Caravan Of Garbage

- With Snake Eyes getting his own origin movie it's time to revisit the Snake Eyes origin movie, 2009's GI Joe The Rise Of Cobra. A blatant Hasbro attempt to cash in on the success of the Transformers movie it seems Channing Tatum's Duke go up against the might of Destro, Cobra Commander and other people in goofy costumes with the back of GI Joe, an elite fighting force of weirdos with bizarre weapons and a green screen base. Also nanites and the President becomes the guy from The Mummy or whatever. It's a great movie and everyone thought so. Thanks for listening!

Beautiful Snake Lips, yes or no?
No 😦
Maybe fangs
Hate the lips
I can picture them kissing the bat nips
I JUST realized, did they do snake-lips because of POWER RANGERS?
you guys missed the part where ray park was the only person on set who actually was a fan of G.I. joe so the directors kept telling the cast to go and ask ray but ray wouldn't talk when he had the snake eyes suit on so nobody knew anything about their character thanks to ray method acting.
That's bullshit, but I believe you.
I want to believe this is true
It's completely true, he's confirmed it in interviews
That's hilarious
Imagine method acting for this dumb movie. Just answer the question, Ray, help your bloody coworkers.

Holy shit I completely forgot The Rock was part of this franchise, I thought it was fast and furious footage at first lol
He does look exactly the same as his character in the fast and furious saga. He just trimmed his beard a little.
The Rock is the franchise kidnapper, any action movie franchise he finds a way to get himself in.
@@rafaelalodio5116 hes playing black Adam in a year lol
It's funny how they call him franchise viagra, but the only franchise he has viagra'd is Fast & Furious.
If Brendan's character is a descendant of Rick. Does that mean Dwayne is a descendent of the Scorpion King?
I don’t think Christopher Eccleston has ever been in something he enjoyed making, guy just lives with a burning hatred for all his characters and experiences
Right? Must suck to have a job you dislike/hate... makes him SO relatable. He should start working tables in a restaurant or something... or drive a bus in rush hour traffic. In all seriousness, isn't he a snob *thespian* or something? You know, the kind that only thrives when doing serious stuff on the small stage?
It honestly shocks me that he's finally mellowed to Doctor Who fans over the past few years. I would've put money on that never happening.
@@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep Likewise, though I thought that was always more trouble with studio executives behind the scenes than it was with fans.
He's in some good British drama that I imagine he probably likes. I think he does quite a bit of theatre as well.
i think he loved his character in The Leftovers. he nailed it
I'm so happy that Ben has finally acknowledged how often James says "it's entirely possible".

@@3Rayfire Hey, I ain't complaining about any of these ladies. :)
This film feels like a 1994 low budget sci-fi action film transposed into 2009 with a huge budget and that’s why I love it, dumb as a bag of rocks but so much fun
I mean GI Joe is suppose to be dumb and bombastic so they got that right, I mean you have Cobra Commander in the Cartoon who is literally voiced by Starscream or the Serpentor guy who looks like a Snake mascot.
i just wheeze laughed. ty.
"His dry cleaning bills must be insane, but he invented the fidget spinner!"
"So I got that going for me, which is nice."
When you watch this thinking it's actually happening in the mind of a kid playing with toys, it's much better.
Also, that Snake Lips rant had me in tears.
So they're making a origin story for a guy who literally can't move his lips and never says a word. cool
In the movie he’ll talk, kind of miss the target with that choice if you ask me, but we’ll see. And by we I mean you guys because I doubt I’ll seriously go out my way to watch that movie... but we’ll see
@@Mr.Lubbox-Lobsterlegz1 But why exactly is he Asian in Snake Eyes? Snake Eyes is NOT Asian in any, way shape or form..He literally looks like Chuckles or Daniel Craig...He was literally in the comic for a good minute a white dude with blonde hair wearing sunglasses and a pink Hawaiian shirt

Crazy to think if they ever went with the third GI Joe movie that would crossover with Transformers, that The Brendan Fraser Mummy movies being canon to the Michael Bay Transformers movies would still be the least crazy thing prior to The Last Knight.
Don’t forget, Friday the 13th would have also been apart of that universe
So how're you feeling now about a GI Joe Transformers crossover?
@@King_Dragmirewon’t be as cool as the eventual Transformers Doctor who crossover which is totally doable and would be canon
This movie's tone and style is what I would of expected from a live action M.A.S.K film.
First time watching it a decade ago, I thought to myself... "Do I even like G.I. Joe?". After watching Retaliation, Renegades, and Resolute... Maybe? Now if the movies had more power armor, then probably yes.
I kinda feel the same. It's like GI Joe is always just _almost_ cool but not quite all the way there
Resolute is still the best gi joe thing ever
Resolute was good.
@@maxmazzotti6651 I continuously visit the fight and story between snake eyes and storm shadow. It's so damn good.
If Fraser was going to be in this series, he should have played Flint.
When I went to see this in theaters, there were a ton of soldiers from the local military base. They took up the whole two front rows and had full pizzas and wings. One went around to everyone in the theater with a giant bag of twizzlers offering to share them. They all laughed extra hard at the military jokes (he wasn’t born, he was government issued). Honestly one of the best theater experiences I had.
This is the most murican bs I’ve ever read
1) eating non cinema appropriate foods in the cinema ✔️
2) thinking a cinema is called a theatre ✔️
3) murders laughing at inside jokes about their occupation ✔️
4) being obnoxious ✔️✔️✔️
The cinema is not the place to be loud and obnoxious. You’re in public. Respect other people. Stop screaming in the cinema. Turn your phone off. Shut your mouth unless it’s a genuine reaction.
If you want to talk and dance around with your friends watching the film, do it at home. The cinema is not the place for you to get your 15 mins of attention.
Don’t try it in Europe. You’ll learn pretty quickly why the only languages Americans speak are European.. English, french, Spanish, Portuguese. We won earth. We say stfu in the cinema. So stfu.
@@Fake-ky1gxand what gives you the right to tell us Americans what to do. Last man who tried to do that lost 13 of his Empire’s Colonies, Also Soldiers aren’t murderers, they’re men who are given the task to protect their country at all costs, a lot of times those costs are not able to be taken well. To disrespect a soldier is to spit in the face of a man who has possibly seen friends and loved ones die right in front of them and still gather up the courage to continue the fight, and because of that Shame on You. Oh and remember, before you say you guys won the earth, go check whose flag is on the surface of the fucking moon.

The habit of calling things 'ATM Machine' / 'PIN Number' etc is known as 'RAS Syndrome'. The RAS stands for Redundant Acronym Syndrome.
We need a GIJOE movie set in the early 80s with campy characters. Making it like the real military will never work. I want my Road Block rapping and wearing a camo tank top or I riot.

And original Shipwreck!!
Yes! With the aesthetic and humour of Commando.
The world needs a Roadblock Chili cookup movie

Looking back, some of the action here is actually pretty cool
Even if the CGI is dodgy I like that they doing crazy shit, unlike some superhero movies with boring action sequences plus bad cgi.

@@angbald Hahah I'm a Patron and Big Sandwich subscriber - I just haven't seen the GI Joe films hahaha - thanks for the advice though m8! :))
Got about 5 minutes in to this and realized the flick is on Netflix right now. Paused it, gave the full thing a go. Not bad. I mean, not a great flick, but it definitely blew my expectations out of the water. This is probably going to be my go-to film to use as an example of "bad cinema" being "good fun", non-ironically. It really feels like it just kinda WENT FOR IT. Obviously some of the design choices are bizarre, but none of it derailed the flick. And I was impressed with how it really hits the ground running. No fluff setup.
Guess I have to see the sequel now, ahead of next week. ;)
The British version of GI Joe is just called "Action Man"
Their is something to be said to watching a movie on a plane . I’ve heard multiple comedians say they got really into movies they normally wouldn’t on planes . They think it’s the environment and the fact your flying so you feel vulnerable
I think it helps that there's next to nothing to do on an airplane, so you'll take any form of entertainment you can get.
I feel like the Corn of Coblin comments are getting out of hand on this channel, please... let's just give it a break this time. Just this once. Please.
Though I must say, G.I Joe: The Corn of Coblin is a much more attention grabbing title then what the writers actually went for. Huge missed opportunity.
Especially if they added in Count Chocula and Boo Berry to fight the corn of Coblin, we'd be looking at Uwe Boll levels of greatness 🤣
Corn of Coblin needs to stay in the Mr Sunday Movies zeitgeist until they acknowledge it again! It's been too long. You can't pretend that they day of Coblin isn't at hand. “Does his other mask (hood) look like a KKK mask (hood)?”
No, no it doesn’t. It’s not tall, pointy, or white. Cobra Commander’s hood makes him look like a medieval executioner, if anything.
What gets me is that there are two versions of the Cobra Commander, the one with the hood, and the one with like a chrome faceplate helmet. The first one I understand not using, but the second one?? Nah, man, they totally mucked it up.
@@MichaelTreder At least we get the helmet in the sequel.

@@eriksanchez1721 I'll give Retaliation credit for one thing, that the production design was practically perfect. Cobra Commander and Firefly both look great, Snake Eyes looks a million times better than he did in the first movie, and even the H.I.S.S. tanks look like they jumped right off the toy shelves.
Yeah the hood excuse (if thats what the moviemakers used, but I am not sure) is rubbish.
I legitimately adore this film in a turn-your-brain-all-the-way-off kind of way. It's like watching the cartoon but with real actors, which is all it should have been.
“Call me… Command-“ *squelch* “So this is his old deodorant, this is my old deodorant”
Address COBRA's motivations, goals, and sources of funding.
Ray Park(much like Mason here) actually is a massive GI Joe fan since he was a kid. Specifically Snake Eyes, so this was dream casting for him. They often used him as a GI Joe lore resource on set since he knew his stuff just as much, if not better than the movies writers.
This whole movie is just the Joe's calling Snake to fix their screw-ups
Yeah, but it worked every time.
I genuinely laughed out loud at the statement “it would detract from the seriousness of the film”

May I ask what happened to the “forcing Mason to watch all the Disney movies so that he gets relentlessly attacked in the comments for not liking them” series?
GI JOE 2020: too many holograms
Real life 2020: too many zoom calls
Well that's a wierd coincidence

I read the Accelerator Suit scene as a meta moment of what kids sometimes do with their action figures. They are jumping around, dodging missiles, or tanking the missiles, throwing them into toy cars and carboard buildings, etc. I only wish there was a bad guy who had one too

This movie is better than the 1987 GI Joe animated movie.
A lovely Celtic FC cameo there, thank you Mason
This might be the least focused yet somehow best CoG I've ever seen
Woa this looks much cooler than I remember. Thanks for making this!
GI Joe and Transformers have always existed to sell toys... Comics, movies and animated series are a plus!!! XD And as Toys they have always been a success! :)
Some people have this weird delusion though that they were some avant-garde deep written animated series...But then again some people are really fucking stupid......The deaths in Transformers the movie were literally just so Hasbro could phase out the older toys and bring in newer toys.
Let’s not forget the fourth Mummy alumni with Heavy Duty who played Lock-Nah in Mummy Returns
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje was also in The Mummy Returns, so that's 4 recasts by my count.
Things that are CGI in this movie that probably shouldn't be CGI in this movie was fantastic. I listened to the reading of that list way too many times. The emphasis on each word as Mason went down the list was spot on. Love it!

This is still the best GI Joe movie I have have seen yet. The second was just nerfed
Favorite scene: They detonate mines underneath the ice…. and the ice SINKS.

Definitely “so bad it’s good.”
This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. I know it’s “bad” but I always have fun watching it.
Least it’s better than half the FF movies.
That picture of young James always makes me laugh, eying that cake as if thinking 'bloddy hell, that cake is on fire, I was gonna eat that, but now it's on fire. Why would they do this, not getting near that. That's dangerous'
The guy who voiced Cobra Commander (and Starscream of course) in the cartoons had one of the greatest voices EVER.
Petition for Caravan of Garbage to do that ICONIC cheerios fight. Just that scene, nothing else from Glee is necessary 😊
Indistinctly remember as a 14 year old going to see this movie and when the robot suits came out I went "oh, because iron man" and I was so upset

While most remember him as The Mummy Guy or to a lesser extent The Van Helsing or G.I.
