Four years ago today my wife Margaret, died from Covid. I took up sim racing and solar. My seat is a Sparco Circuit ll, yeah, they take up all my money except essentials. No drink no drugs. Our lives changed. Now I understand you a bit better and the coming, going accent I mentioned. Now get out there and drive, works over for the day. Peace.

    Interesting video Danny.
Never let people tell you that you can't do anything you want to do.
People laughed at me when I was 64 and said I was going to do sim racing.
Well I'm 68 next month and still sim racing and uploading videos to CZcams.
I may not be the fastest guy but I love it and it keeps me young at heart.
Be the best version of yourself that you can be and life will be great. 👍

Had the exact same experience, at Blyton Park, at the Ginetta G40 Want2Race session on a September day in 2013. Skipped my first day at Sixth Form for it, and just wasn't good enough at the time against the competition, with limited experience. It's humbling, and probably teaches you more than winning it. Keep going boss. We got this.

If someone was to ask me if it's a good idea to enter a Scholarship competition, I would say 'Yes, so long as you're prepared to learn some valuable lessons about yourself' - people can flourish from failure if they've got the right attitude

@@dannyleeracing just the very act of putting yourself out there, and like you said, puts you above the parapet beyond 90 percent of people who’d never try. You never know where you might end up

I'm close to entering the second half of my life now, and currently embarking on a new challenge.
I can say without doubt that the greatest and most valuable lessons I have learned in life have come from understanding and overcoming my failures.
You cannot win at life unless you're playing the game.
Try, Fail, Mourn, Evaluate, Learn, Practice, Change, Try again.
That is the cycle of life that will win success.
      Good luck lads.

I've done that track a lot and even on road tyres I span at that corner in my GT86 when it was damp and cold. My friend in the passenger seat reckoned I just did something stupid, so he drove the next session and on the first lap span out on that exact same corner lol

The biggest surprise I've gotten out of sim racing is how well it teaches you to deal with failure. Spend weeks or months preparing for an event, and it can all end from one missed braking point, one bad decision on track, one dropped connection. The frustration or even anger sucks but you have to pick yourself up, absorb any lessons to be learned, and move on to the next thing. Your video really reflected that feeling.

I'm no professional, but I've gotten podiums in the most competitive club racing in my area. I've spun on the outlap a few times when driving a new tire compounds cold for the first time. It can be tricky! Once you are used to how they come in, I'm sure you wouldn't make this mistake again.
It also sounds to me like your instructor was being genuine. Making mistakes is fine as long as you are moving towards consistency.
I hope you get another shot!

I would counter the assumption that you wouldn't/shouldn't enter a competition unless you think there's a reasonable chance you can win. Competing is in itself a skill, and it's important to compete even if you know you're destined for last place. If you always choose to start from the pits, you'll never get good at starting from the grid.

    • @dannyleeracing

Clubsport DD is back on the sub bench for a bit whilst I dusted off the Logitech for a few videos, and I'm back on the La Prima for a bit - my CSDD replacement still had coil whine, so I'll be taking that up with them eventually. I won't be focusing on the CSDD again in any major way until Fullforce is available in iRacing and a 'full' review and 'comparison' can be given against the La Prima

Ya I hear ya. Iv also very mild coil whine on my dd+ bought 2 weeks ago. But only after it warms up cold nothing. And even at that u have to listen. Not sure what to do.
But apart from that I love it so far feels amazing over the Gt Dd pro.
