NickonAquaMagna Tak 2 and Ty 2 were favorite childhood games of mine. I will say though Ty 2 is an excellent game and one of my favorites. Tak 2 is still very fun, but does have a few minor problems.

Johnny, if you wanna see the X-men legends formula reach something better and more fun, you should play Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I highly recommend it as it does things much better than X-men legends. And it contains characters from all around the Marvel universe :3

Johnny, you said you'd feel differently about these games if they weren't presented as Action RPGs. They're not, at least not the kind you're used to.
While they do fall under that genre title they belong to a very specific sub-genre. They are Diablo style dungeon crawlers. They are essentially beat-em-ups with RPG character progression and random loot drops and that's all they are trying to be. They're not trying to be the same kind of character and story driven RPGs that Kingdom Hearts is.
Also don't misunderstand. I'm not saying you have to like these games. If you still think they're clunky, or extremely slow, or really drawn out, or kind of shallow that's fine because they are. All I'm saying is you're looking at this game like it's trying to compete as an RPG when you should be looking at this game like it's trying to give a mostly PC exclusive experience on console. Think of it more like Streets of Rage with RPG character progression. Just a game where you and some buddies pick you favorite X-Men and go on a romp tearing things up.
It's a preference, you don't change that on a whim for one game
***** I don't believe I mentioned anything about Zelda, but have you played Kingdom Hearts? It is an RPG with a Real Time combat system where you have control over a single character with a control scheme reminiscent of a 3rd person action game. What would you call it if not an Action RPG?

There's a game called a Marvel Ultimate Alliance, an action RPG made by the same developer. It's really really good. I recommend you try it out John.
Why would he try that out? He made it pretty clear in the reviews he didn't like this series, and that game is exactly like this except for more Marvel characters.
cause it actually has a plot and a great roster, pool of moves, costumes, and dialogue. i think UA 2 was better tho
Except that none of that matters because the main thing that he emphasized over and over in these reviews is that he didn't like the GAMEPLAY, which is exactly the same. He didn't like the constant beat em up mashing for hours at a time, and MUA is the exact same concept.
Telling him to play MUA after this is like telling somebody who absolutely hated Dark Souls to give Bloodborne a shot.
actually i have a friend who hates Dark Souls, but loves Bloodborne. Its all the guy plays

The best part about xmen legends is the description of the attacks. I love the over complicated way superhero characters use their powers. Like magneto making metal men to fight alongside him
Though I never played the X-Men Legends games, I'm glad they exist simply because they led to the creation of one of my favorite comic book games, Ultimate Alliance. Huge roster, passable story, great gameplay, and it took time to give backstory for each character, and would allow special conversations between two characters if used correctly.
Can't wait for the rest of reviews for 2015, especially the Pokemon and MGS Marathons!
