You guys ready for another Indie Showcase? We're starting things off with Journey, a Playstation 3/Vita/4 Exclusive that really wants you to get absorbed into the world it contains. Is that worth $15, though?
"You could go into extreme detail on how this sandwich here is made from the finest quality meat and cheese that are only available when the planets align, and that the creator of the sandwich meant for it to be enjoyed in a specific manner. Meanwhile, while the person was explaining all that, I already ate the damn thing because it's food and I was hungry."
I feel like Journey by yourself is a good, interesting experience. But with another player it really transforms into something incredible. I played through the entire game in one sitting with one partner. We learned to communicate effectively, helped each other search for secret glyphs, and made sure to never leave the other one behind. On the snowy mountain top, when your powers are drained, the other player went away. I wanted to continue, but we were so close to the end, I wanted to finish it together. So our characters were just sitting there in the snow. I waited...and waited...and then finally they came back. They were jumping around, happy that I'd waited, and then we got on with finishing the game. The flying sequence was a lot of fun, and then we greeted the end together. Honestly, it was the best multiplayer experience I've ever had =) There was just something magical about working together and, in the end, struggling together. And the only way to communicate was a button which plays a musical note.
Johnny VS Johnny : A deep spiritual tale of Johnny fighting his inner demons. Watch him battle through Self Doubt and Horrible Flashbacks to the great war all those years ago.

Garrett Williamson (GarArtStudios) He already did a let's play on his gaming channel on FNAF 1&2, both of them were played by Elliot. So yeah you're kind of seven months late with that comment.
I have more respect for you than ever before. Instead of trying to understand the complexities of what Journey is trying to evoke and whether or not it succeeded, you gave your own personal perspective. There is certainly a place for theories and a deep understating of art, but I don't like it when pseudo-intellectuals try to make vast claims about why something is or isn't art. It is okay for people to just like or dislike a game based on their particular tastes. Journey is one of my favourite games on PS3 but I have no issue with someone disliking it as I have no intention of jumping down their throat because they are some "neanderthal who is incapable of appreciating video game art." Journey is an acquired taste. Anyone who likes it is not better or worse that anyone who dislikes it. Just my two cents. Have a good time, folks. Oh, and games are wonderful.
I was a tad tired when I read this, so I kinda thought you said: "Johnny is an acquired taste", so I'm guessing it tastes like coffee on a comfy ass couch.
5 years later this review has always stuck in my mind so I bought it and was not disappointing in the slightest. Thanks past review guy, you helped spark the imagination of a younger me.
I'm really surprised that not as many people are asking for Shovel Knight. I'm disappointed by the lot of you. Anyway, Johnny vs. Shovel Knight. Also, for a sort of oddball choice that shouldn't take too much time, Johnny vs. The Jackbox Party Pack.
I will lend thee my support, as to raise the likely hood that John not think all his fans fail to comprehend the concept of games developed by anyone other than Nintendo, Sega, Valve, or occasionally rare. Seriously people, I want a Knuckle Chaotix, Luigi's Mansion, or Portal review as much as the next guy or gal, but this marathon's dedicated to Individual Developers for a reason.
ChazzzyF I think they're not suggesting it, because we all can agree that he IS gonna review it, with or without voting it. (Hell, it's a very recognized and famous Indie game, so why wouldn't he?)

After I played Journey I think in 2020-2019, I can finally say that it’s a game that proves you can tell a story without dialogue. Especially with a buddy that you will never know until the end of the game. The one or two enemies scared me though.
YourRegularGamer Terraria is much less about the building and more about completing objectives and progression. The game has more gear/weapons and more bosses to fight.I actually prefer it to Minecraft because of that.

This review came out a lot faster than I thought it would. You must be really excited for some game in the lineup, eh, Johnny? Oh, and I've also gotta give you props for that ending bit. Even though Five Nights at Freddy's has been done to death, I think you're the first person I've seen mention the game without a jumpscare. Way to keep things fresh!
The visuals are so beautiful I almost got teary eyed. It looks like a game I would like. I'm not overly philosophical, but the game itself can greatly hold my interest. Anyone else feel this way?
Glad to see your doing a Five Nights at Freddy's review there are not many reviews of the game (despite there being over 1,000,000 videos on it no joke serch it) but here are a few requirements. Five Nights at Freddy's: Beat night 1-6 Five Nights at Freddy's 2: Beat night 1-6 and a few presets on night 7 Five Nights at Freddy's 3: Beat night 1-5 and night 6/nightmare mode and get both the good and bad ending. Just some requirements because let me tell you, the Five Nights at Freddy's fanbase is crazy and will rip you apart if you forget to mention somthing. But the main thing I am saying is don't do 20/20/20/20, Golden Freddy Challenge, and/or Agressive Nightmare they are hard and give you almost nothing for beating them. Make sure when you share the video on Google + you say "Are you ready for Freddy"? I probaly forgot something but that is just what I remember. Yes! I went that long talking about Five Nights at Freddy's without shortening it to FNaF.
***** True but I'm just giving a fair warning, the fanbase will rip him apart. Also I play on a Minecraft server and this one person won't shut up about FNaF and calls Chica "my future wife" and also calls Bonnie "bae".
Rad shyguy they arent all jerks and I never saw any FNAF fans getting mad about not mentioning something, although if I were to give advice to John it would be to forget 4/20 mode, that mode is absolutely infuriatingly hard and its even harder than night 6 which I didnt believe until I finally got to night 7
***** Or maybe he ends up actually liking it instead of flaming it like everyone else. What, are you just assuming he won't like it with no basis whatsoever?
Johnny, please continue reviewing games that you are interested in. I love your reviews don't get me wrong, but I'd much rather wait a longer period of time for a longer and more detailed review like your older ones. Not hating, just making a request
I use the term "indie game" more to identify games made in the indie spirit, meaning lower budget, fewer man hours, and usually not advertised the same way major releases are. Ubisoft is a big company, but big company resources did not go into Child of Light, so to me, that's an indie game.
I started to list off the indie games I wanted to see. "~Ib ~Always So-" and then you mentioned "something people have been clambering for me to do even before I thought about doing a second indie showcase. I'm guessing a lot of you probably already know-" and I decided to pause my typing and look up to the screen. Then the lights went out and I saw the eyes, heard the music. VERY Excited.
pixarprime10 it is decent but nowhere near perfect. Due to the player's high health bar and being nearly invincible as a result, the developers decided to design the levels around instant death traps (spikes and pits), and placed enemies in unfair spots so that they can knock you into said traps with its horrendous knock back system. I ONLY ever died because of either a boss or getting knocked off a cliff or knocked into spikes. The gameplay is very unbalanced. Would of been better if Shovel Knight had less HP so that he was more vulnerable to enemy fire, and knock back was removed. That way it would still be challenging but actually fair.
***** Health is really optional if you want to get it, and if you want enemies to do more damage, there's an in-game code that allows enemies to do 4x the damage. If knockback is you problem, there's a chestplate that reduces it at least.
***** Totally agree man, that was one of my main gripes with the game as well. Whats the point of a healthbar if im just gonna die from insta kill spikes/pits all the time haha
I wonder what would be said in the comments here? So many indie games to chose from, Hunie Pop (Which I doubt will ever be shown since I bet Johnny wouldn't want something like that to appear on his channel if at all.) Lethal League, and...Damn it I can't think of anything else. Oh wait why not Shovel Knight? Everyone say something about Shovel Knight. Unless Johnny has that planned then in which case forget my comment.
Azure Striker Gunvolt, Mighty Gunvolt, Azure Striker Gunvolt, any of the Shantae games, Azure Striker Gunvolt, Mighty Gunvolt.... Seriously John, you should check these games out, especially Azure Striker Gunvolt. I think that you'd like it.
Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages is the best Indie Game I've played. It's one of those rare few games that makes a lot of promises, and actually manages to deliver on all of them.
SuperSonic93 I bought that game because I'm a pervert and just wanted to see sexy girls fighting... then I discover that the game is shit... even the mover aren't in the game, you have to download a fucking PDF file in order to know the moves... What shit is that??!!
These games is never going to be picked... But maybe an RPG maker game would be cool? Yume Nikki, IB, OFF, Lisa the Painful RPG, all these games I feel have something cool.
Blaze Howard Again, Yume Nikki is alot more up for assumption, the latter 3 RPG maker games at least have a story and path to follow, Yume Nikki while open ended, is kinda hard for a pick up and play mentality.
And thus we learned that half of Johnny's fanbase either never learned the definition of "indie" games or have poor listening skills. My vote is still for IWBTG. Censored Mode rage, people, you know you want it.
LX Yeah, there's a debate about whether Journey should be considered an indie game or not, and both sides have good points, but the game, as of now, is still classified as indie, so it still fits the bill for Johnny's indie showcase.
thessbmaster No, it isn't. A game published by a mainline publisher is by definition an indie game. Or is every game made by a studio not owned by the publisher an indie game now, lol?
LX I'm not arguing with you on whether it SHOULD be classified as indie, but it is currently classified as indie by all of the official websites I've seen. The classification is a fact, whether it should be classified as such is a different story. However, since it is currently classified as indie, it does fit Johnny's parameters.
Lol, I read the title of this vid as "Johnny VS Johnny". I was all like "wtf". Anyways, I've heard about this game multiple times, but I've never really looked into it. After watching this review, It doesn't really seem like anything I'd like too much. Oooo, FNaF is next, eh? Let's hope the comments are disabled.
Rafael Lopez yeah and well they already technically have the footage they just need to record night 6 and 7. although maybe not lol. still though elliot is like the God of FNAF, he got through the entire first 5 nights with only ONE death on night ONE, you cant say that that isnt impressive, he did much better than a ton of other youtubers
Zyad48 - The Warrior of Evil Elliot is like some kind of FNaF master. I don't really find FNaF too creepy at all, the lore is where the creepy stuff is at.
Omar Elmosrati yeah i agree, I never found the game even remotely scary, the real fear for me was the fact that I was under so much pressure and stress during it and losing just hurts after all of that, im scared of losing more than anything, like you know how in mario 1 if you get a game over you're sent back to the beginning of the game? and when you're on your last life you're panicking because you dont want to lose and have all of the progress you made to go to waste. thats how I feel about FNAF, and the game gets pretty fucking difficult later on, and the lore is pretty damn interesting(anyone else waiting till game theory does a theory on FNAF 3?)
Curse you, Johnny! That sandwich looked so delicious I got hungry and had to get something to eat! XD Happy Holidays to one and all, and may many good eats sit on the plates in front of you in the new year of 2016!
Knytt is a fun little freeware platformer made by Nifflas. It's similar to metroid in you need to explore the world around you, using items you found in one area to unlock places in others. Nifflas also made a game called "Within a Deep Forest" which is similar to Knytt only instead of a people-like character you are a ball.
Another great review. Personally, I'd like to see you cover the Shantae series as Im a huge fan and I loved the play through you did on Brainscratch. Also, with all the talk of smash bros and shantae being high up on the list for a lot of folk, myself included, itd be nice to get a more in depth opinion of series from you. c:
If Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game counts as indie, then you should definitely review that. Not only is that game amazing, but then we can finally have "Johnny vs. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World"
The Angry Dango of Doom I found Minecraft heavily disappointing when I bought it in alpha. Then Terraria came along and did everything I was originally looking for in Minecraft.
Wonder if anyone's yet recommended 'To The Moon' I grant that it lacks quite a lot in actual gameplay too, but the game has a great story that works well dependant on the players memory or interactions with even optional scenery/people. I suspect people have mentioned it in the comment section given it was voted best indie Rpg of 2011.
I never said I hated it, I was just saying that because it's a horror game and horror games are meant to scare people. Since he's reviewing a horror game he'll be using footage from it and I'm not really a fan of jump scares... Also, I never mentioned anything about it being too mainstream.
I haven't heard that one, I just don't understand what the problem is with something being mainstream unless you can't turn around without hearing about it
This game was disgusting on release. What a cash grab. It was a whopping £15 for a "game" with; -Eh graphics, some good, some... eh -Practically no gameplay, just a walking sim -Practically no story, just an interpretational piece, which demands no thought -NO replayability -its only a MEASLY 1h:30mins long TOPS, what? 2 hours IF you look for the gliphs, in which there is no point. £15 for that? WHAT!? The fuck were they thinking? its barely a game! if its that short, and that expensive, it BETTER be a DAMN GOOD experience, which it wasnt. Unfinished swan was practically the same in design, only it was longer, had a story, varied gameplay, actual gameplay more than just walking, and it was cheaper.
"Can't classify as a game" Games ARE experiences. People need to get used to this. Especially those older gamers who want to pin games down to what they grew up with. Not all games are about complicated mechanics to master. Simple as that. Deal with it.
ThunderhorseEX Video games are designed, interactive experiences via video, audio, and potentially more methods of feedback. But hey, play semantics because you have no room in your life to allow anything other than what you want out of a game be your definition of a game.
I don't get why people get so uptight about their definitions. They are a cornerstone if we are to analyze the product and categorize it, because that's what all of this is at the end of the day: Products. Really, I'm totally ok with them being "Visual Experiences" or "Interactive Experiences". When you hear the word "videoGAME", your mind goes Megaman, not Journey. On the other hand, at least on a personal level, when the word "Interactive Experience" pops up, among others, Journey is the one that shows up the most in my mind. Semantics are important, yo.
as i suggested at some point in the last indie marathon, i still think you'd enjoy Aquaria on steam. it's a fun gem of a metroidvania where the whole game is underwater. i know how you are on water dungeons in games, however this game is designed to mitigate that mentality and offer a more fun experience
I got it as one of the free PS4 offers from a few months back: never played it. so I decided to get some input on what the game was like from Johnny, I'd say it sounds fine for me.
Anyone else read the title as Johnny vs. Johnny at first?
I did
I wouldn't mind that actually.
ahbeef *raises hand*
***** That would be the best review ever!!!
ahbeef i didnt because of the picture of the video but I see what you mean XD

Garrett
Garrett Williamson (GarArtStudios) Amen.
Garrett Williamson (GarArtStudios) He already did a let's play on his gaming channel on FNAF 1&2, both of them were played by Elliot. So yeah you're kind of seven months late with that comment.

I was referring to the original comment, but OK!

Godspeed Johnny. The FNaF will be a tough one..
Haedox I thought you liked fnaf
Dude, you're everwhere!
ExoParadigmGamer pls
FNaf isn't extremely hard, it's the iOS version that will make you go insane because of the low power, and believe me I have played both games.
Ah, he'll just get Elliot to play the game for him. Elliot is the best FNAF player I've ever seen. Even better than Markiplier to some degree.
I vote for Skullgirls...
Because Shovel Knight seems like a given.
5 years later this review has always stuck in my mind so I bought it and was not disappointing in the slightest. Thanks past review guy, you helped spark the imagination of a younger me.

Ok, take a shot every time you see shovel knight or FNaF down here.
Also, I vote shovel knight

What you want people to die a liver poisoning?

I'm really surprised that not as many people are asking for Shovel Knight. I'm disappointed by the lot of you.

TheHedgehogRoim Very true, but still.
ChazzzyF I'm not asking a review for it because A. the game is too bland and B. everyone already has.
Well, Shovel Knight is his next review. Mission accomplished.
Shovel Knight and Axiom Verge are some good games, and if this lasts long enough, do Mighty No. 9 once it's released.

Shante and the Pirate's curse.
Alec La Frossia That's really not an Indie game; Shantae debuted on the GameBoy Color and the game was developed by WayForward and published by Capcom. ToeJam & Earl started out as a SEGA franchise, and there's a new game coming out that started as a Kickstarter project; does that make it Indie? Not exactly.
RaymanFan1995 Elite: Dangerous is an indie title, but Frontier: Elite sure ain't indie. Shantae isn't indie, Half-Genie Hero is.
Benyamin Soto I thought the Shantae series was indie. I mean the first game was published by Capcom, but still made by WayForward and I thought WayForward was an indie company... aren't they?
gamefreakDX I think that the rule is if you get a). a physical release and b). an external publisher, you're no longer indie.
Benyamin Soto Hmm, I suppose, but does that mean Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse is Indie? Capcom had nothing to do with them as far as I'm aware. And some people said that Half-Genie Hero is the only indie Shantae game.
Shovel Knight. My favorite game of all time.
Oh please do Skullgirls.
RavenKingSage I don't think skullgirls is a indie game though?... I could be wrong though.
UndernightSeth That's a hard one... It kinda isn't, but the Skullgirls you can buy today is mostly crowdfounded and independent so.... XD
UndernightSeth Pretty sure it's indie. Skullgirls is a good one if you like 2D fighters of the "Darkstalkers" temperament, so I'll second that nomination.

Supertron Thanks. I freaking love Shovel Knight.

Jacob Carver im sayin!!!
***** Mega Man X isn't an indie game though.
I'd recommend Gunman Clive 1 & 2 on 3DS. They're dirt cheap but a lot of fun.
I didn't think of that one. But that's probably because I haven't completed it.
$5 for the both of them, hand-drawn artwork & old-school platforming that's easy to pick up....yeah well worth getting!!!
I have the first one, it's fantastic!
This is a nice birthday present, thank you Johnny!
I read the title as Johnny vs. Johnny at first.

Yeah it's not exactly your typical XBLA or PSN game, but has been one of my favourites since playing it.
***** That game is great... I just dont see johnny having much to say about it sadly D:
Will-A- Wisp that's my worry. People will want to see something like Five Nights at Freddie's, Fez, or Shovel Knight.

You should review Terraria.
SuperZero2552 Maybe like the closure for the marathon like he did with minecraft. I find it fitting since terraria is seen as the rival to minecraft
SuperZero2552 I find Terraria to be a 2-D Minecraft :/
YourRegularGamer Terraria is much less about the building and more about completing objectives and progression. The game has more gear/weapons and more bosses to fight.I actually prefer it to Minecraft because of that.

So you're doing FNaF...
Please shut the comment section down for that one.
I don't think Johnny is going to be doing that
ahahahha
KidSnivy69 Oh really? 5:20 , yeah he's definitely doing FNaF
(Nevermind, misunderstood the comment)
***** He probably meant, Johnny is not going to shut the comment section down.

MR. IDONOTCARE There was actually an arcade game in the 80s about Journey.
SAME
MR. IDONOTCARE Sir, I award you 10 points, because that was fucking hilarious.
Knuckle's chaotix , jonhy fucking please
Indie marathon
he just keeps delaying it and it annoyis me D:
Hey blame people wanting Secret Ring in that. vote
The visuals are so beautiful I almost got teary eyed. It looks like a game I would like. I'm not overly philosophical, but the game itself can greatly hold my interest. Anyone else feel this way?
It looks very visually stunning and peaceful.
Skullgirls.
Here's one that's probably not going to make the short list: Charlie Murder.
79bigcat I second Charlies Murders
79bigcat HOLY SHIT I LOVE CHARLIES MURDER 8D
YOU ARE SO UNDERRATED I'M RAGING!!! Srsly tho, man GREAT quality vids. Keep it up on being my favorite reviewer :)
I recommend the game Grow Home, the game by the Ubisoft studio Reflections that has simplistic yet engaging gameplay and gorgeous yet retro visuals.
SHOVEL KNIGHT PLEASE! I LOVE THAT GAME
Glad to see your doing a Five Nights at Freddy's review there are not many reviews of the game (despite there being over 1,000,000 videos on it no joke serch it) but here are a few requirements.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Beat night 1-6
Five Nights at Freddy's 2: Beat night 1-6 and a few presets on night 7
Five Nights at Freddy's 3: Beat night 1-5 and night 6/nightmare mode and get both the good and bad ending.
Rad shyguy i agree the fnaf fan base is horrible but the game dosen't have to be finished to get a review.
***** True but I'm just giving a fair warning, the fanbase will rip him apart. Also I play on a Minecraft server and this one person won't shut up about FNaF and calls Chica "my future wife" and also calls Bonnie "bae".
Rad shyguy gross
***** Ikr.
That ending made me really laugh out loud. XD
5:19 John: Damn, I forgot to pay the electric bill...again
C'mon, Johnny.. There's been far more than enough FNAF buzz around here as of late..
Well I knew it was coming. Since its a popular series and Johny is a semi-popular CZcamsr people would want to know his opinion (I'm not one of them)
Maybe he'll have the balls to say how much of an overrated indie game it is instead of praising it like everyone else.
***** Or maybe he ends up actually liking it instead of flaming it like everyone else. What, are you just assuming he won't like it with no basis whatsoever?
hermesleao Or he doesn't like it, and backs it up well, like what he does with all of his reviews.
***** Or he likes it and backs it up well. Anything could happen.
As far as Indie Games are concerned, my top picks are *Shovel Knight*, and a somewhat underlooked little piece called *EvoLand*. =)
I didn’t know you could meet other players. That’s pretty cool
I've been waiting for this review
Johnny, please continue reviewing games that you are interested in. I love your reviews don't get me wrong, but I'd much rather wait a longer period of time for a longer and more detailed review like your older ones. Not hating, just making a request
I hope Child of Light is next.
ishingo69 Ubisoft's not an Indie company is it
ishingo69 nopefnaf
ishingo69 That's a Ubisoft game, clerly not indie
Karl Schweinfurth Yet somehow it and Cloudberry Kingdom are under the "Indie" section of the PlayStation Store... :/
I use the term "indie game" more to identify games made in the indie spirit, meaning lower budget, fewer man hours, and usually not advertised the same way major releases are.
Ubisoft is a big company, but big company resources did not go into Child of Light, so to me, that's an indie game.
Yep, I can already tell what the next showcase will be
I started to list off the indie games I wanted to see.
"~Ib
~Always So-"
and then you mentioned "something people have been clambering for me to do even before I thought about doing a second indie showcase. I'm guessing a lot of you probably already know-" and I decided to pause my typing and look up to the screen.
Then the lights went out and I saw the eyes, heard the music.
VERY
Excited.
I know it's not an indie game, but i would *LOVE* to see you do a review on Dark Souls.
Dylan Bailey Your wish has been granted! Three years after the fact
I think you should review Axiom Verge considering how similar it is one of your favorite series, Metroid.
I loved this game. It's beautiful. Yeah, it's supposed to be a subjective experience rather than a full game, but it's still really fun.
Transistor, yo. See the spine. Become one.
Actually don't become one. That means you got processed and I hear it hurts like shit.
I hope you'll do a Shantae marathon :) plz
SHOVEL KNIGHT!! Johnny its one of the most perfect indie games ever, PLEASE do Shovel Knight!!!!
pixarprime10 it is decent but nowhere near perfect.
I am so hoping that he will take a look on the Escape Goat games during this marathon, two fantastic indie games.
Flow is a real game, and flower is also an exploration based games with levels, they’re both really fun.
JadenXDemonMan I swear to god if anyone actually recommends HuniePop...
Jak Saward that's a porn game right?
Raylo GameMaster No.
It's a hentai game.
Jak Saward hentai, porn, it's all the same.
Jak Saward There most likely will be someone recommending that game.
Anyone else want a Don't starve review from johnny?
That game is Boonkers!
Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages is the best Indie Game I've played. It's one of those rare few games that makes a lot of promises, and actually manages to deliver on all of them.
Please review Skullgirls Encore! Who agrees with me!?
SuperSonic93 I bought that game because I'm a pervert and just wanted to see sexy girls fighting... then I discover that the game is shit... even the mover aren't in the game, you have to download a fucking PDF file in order to know the moves... What shit is that??!!
SuperSonic93 I hope he reviews Skullgirls. If he starts soon he will get Beowulf free.
These games is never going to be picked... But maybe an RPG maker game would be cool?
Yume Nikki, IB, OFF, Lisa the Painful RPG, all these games I feel have something cool.
Will-A- Wisp You're forgetting the obvious RPG Maker game....
....inhale
But he's reviewing that game next... ¦D
Will-A- Wisp inhale my dong enragement wisp
*Unmasks myself to revile it is I, Balloon Boy*
Blaze Howard Again, Yume Nikki is alot more up for assumption, the latter 3 RPG maker games at least have a story and path to follow, Yume Nikki while open ended, is kinda hard for a pick up and play mentality.
Crypt of the necrodancer, it was fully released some days ago and it's super-fun.
loved the sandwich analogy
And thus we learned that half of Johnny's fanbase either never learned the definition of "indie" games or have poor listening skills.
My vote is still for IWBTG. Censored Mode rage, people, you know you want it.
thessbmaster to quote Stewie Griffin, "I WANT IT!".
thessbmaster He's reviewing Journey. Which isn't an indie game... For his indie games.
Omar Elmosrati oh haha XD. still though I wonder how Johnny will assess FNAF's BRUTAL difficulty
Probably gonna need Elliot for assistance(but he probably already does since he's usually camera assistance when not making an appearance).
I loved playing this, I still have a soundtrack on my wish list on Amazon, I really need to buy it also 3:37 glitch! haha
Curse you, Johnny! That sandwich looked so delicious I got hungry and had to get something to eat! XD Happy Holidays to one and all, and may many good eats sit on the plates in front of you in the new year of 2016!
Flower is SOOOOOO good
please play it!
Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2?
Couldn't agree more they may be violent but my god hotline miami 2 is currently 1 of the best games ive played this year
Knytt is a fun little freeware platformer made by Nifflas.
Also, with all the talk of smash bros and shantae being high up on the list for a lot of folk, myself included, itd be nice to get a more in depth opinion of series from you. c:
Ori and the Blind Forest
Child of Light
any of the Pushmo games
This is my favorite game of all time.
whats funny? i was simply stating my opinion.
why is that? opinion by definition can be wrong. but why is journey not good, have you even played it?
why is my opinion not good?
RomblöSylvestevez i think if you have a single favorite anything then you're doomed to never liking that much else.
i see that its just...i think it resenated with me so well is because of the person i travel with and that made it better than doing it alone
If Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game counts as indie, then you should definitely review that. Not only is that game amazing, but then we can finally have "Johnny vs. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World"
would love to see you do the stanley parable
Play Terraria, it's like Minecraft, but with a Metroid gameplay style you like
and actual stuff to do
The Angry Dango of Doom I found Minecraft heavily disappointing when I bought it in alpha. Then Terraria came along and did everything I was originally looking for in Minecraft.
The Angry Dango of Doom one of my favorite games. :)
***** Terraria is amazing yeah
The Angry Dango of Doom I can agree with you there guys
The Angry Dango of Doom Terraria? Don't you mean "Minecraft never heard of it also we're 2d now and therefor different to the thing we never heard of"
Do a review on the sonic riders series!
He is focusing on indie games at the moment
KidSnivy69 oh ok... Well then Limbo would be my next choice :P
I don't have an indie idea, but if you could, please do a half-life marathon where you play all the half-life games and the expansions.
Wonder if anyone's yet recommended 'To The Moon'
I grant that it lacks quite a lot in actual gameplay too, but the game has a great story that works well dependant on the players memory or interactions with even optional scenery/people.
I suspect people have mentioned it in the comment section given it was voted best indie Rpg of 2011.
I vote Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire.
YOU PROMISED US DIAMOND AND PEARL...
Pokémon is the farthest thing from an indie game
KidSnivy69 Votes will be votes, and I submit my vote.
Articuno Forever Yes a vote, for another time.
Articuno Forever
At least vote for it when it's appropriate, you didn't notice most comment bring up indie games?
Articuno Forever Hey I've seen you in a One minute melee comment.
OH GOD IT'S FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I've never played FNAF
TheRazorMiner So you're hating on it because it's too mainstream? Hipster alert.
I never said I hated it, I was just saying that because it's a horror game and horror games are meant to scare people. Since he's reviewing a horror game he'll be using footage from it and I'm not really a fan of jump scares...
Also, I never mentioned anything about it being too mainstream.
TheRazorMiner
Well you have no idea how many people are saying that Minecraft sucks now because it's too mainstream.
I haven't heard that one, I just don't understand what the problem is with something being mainstream unless you can't turn around without hearing about it
Axiom verge.
You'll love it, it's about as indie as it gets. It's a metroidvania, heavy on the metroid, with a dash of contra and bionic commando.
I'd love to see your opinion on Shovel Knight.
This game was disgusting on release. What a cash grab.
It was a whopping £15 for a "game" with;
-Eh graphics, some good, some... eh
-Practically no gameplay, just a walking sim
-Practically no story, just an interpretational piece, which demands no thought
-NO replayability
-its only a MEASLY 1h:30mins long TOPS, what? 2 hours IF you look for the gliphs, in which there is no point.
£15 for that? WHAT!? The fuck were they thinking? its barely a game! if its that short, and that expensive, it BETTER be a DAMN GOOD experience, which it wasnt. Unfinished swan was practically the same in design, only it was longer, had a story, varied gameplay, actual gameplay more than just walking, and it was cheaper.
MysteriousStranger50 Actually, it was $20, thus £15, still way over priced.
"Can't classify as a game"
Games ARE experiences. People need to get used to this. Especially those older gamers who want to pin games down to what they grew up with.
Not all games are about complicated mechanics to master. Simple as that. Deal with it.
What is a game, then?
Eating is also an experience.
ThunderhorseEX Video games are designed, interactive experiences via video, audio, and potentially more methods of feedback.
But hey, play semantics because you have no room in your life to allow anything other than what you want out of a game be your definition of a game.
LX but I don't like it so it can't be a game.
LX Games however are about having input wand control. And this...is just the bare minimum.
Just saw the journey music live in Australia!!!
Apotheosis is the best musical piece I’ve ever heard. Bar none. And it must be played at my funeral. In its 7 minute entirety.
I thought the end was going to be The Letter lol
Well, time to join the crowd. Shovel Knight!
as i suggested at some point in the last indie marathon, i still think you'd enjoy Aquaria on steam. it's a fun gem of a metroidvania where the whole game is underwater. i know how you are on water dungeons in games, however this game is designed to mitigate that mentality and offer a more fun experience
Really hoping you can fit FEZ into your reviews :)
I got it as one of the free PS4 offers from a few months back: never played it.
so I decided to get some input on what the game was like from Johnny, I'd say it sounds fine for me.
misread title as Johnny vs Johnny, was disappointed that my eyes lied to me XD Still loved the video
That game looks beautiful.
My exact words at the end.... "Oh nooooo......"
