We need a remastered for this game
Truer words have never been spoken
100% I steal got this game on ps2
We need this remade
XML1 & 2
@@NICKIMINAJLUVSME2XOX i agree. Need those remade
Beating Apocalypse was such a huge accomplishment when I played it as a kid.
I was epic that's for sure.
today's day I still don't know if destroying the statues helped or not but that's the only way I beat him and it took me like three weeks
M thinking of buying playstation 2 again for my adult quarantine life
Back when quicksilver and scarlet witch we’re still mutants, good times.
Relax... they'll probably eventually be revealed to have been mutants this whole time.
@@RocKnight11 yeah, i trust marvel studios lord kevin feige with fulfilling the mcu drought of mutant content due to fox's constant mess ups
Til confirmed not in the comics. Whomp. Whomp.
@@putalover4519 Wanda and Quicksilver not being mutants and not being Magneto’s children is one of the most unnecessary and stupid retcons of all time. I think they did the retcon on 2012 .. what a coincidence they probably did it on purpose just so people can say that they don’t need to be mutants anymore like you.
Your good times led to M day no they weren't
Can we take a moment to appreciate how epic the X-men legends 2 intro cutscene is?!
*insert flashback of Magneto, Mystique, and Sabretooth walking down the hallway while being protected by the force field as the soldiers try to shoot them*
Yeah it was pretty epic. Makes you think they're the villains only for it to reveal the X-Men and Brotherhood are working together lol
@@ChannelNerdgasm haha exactly! Btw, thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm looking forward to your future content!!
You're welcome and thank you very much for the support :)
Is really good Cutscene but the way how the game introduce himself is bad not showing how Charles got in Jail how X-Men and Brothehood come together not Showing apocalipse invade Genosha is really Bad story teller and the only way to Fix that is Marvel make with X-Men legends Remake.
I wish they made X-Men Legends 3!
Honestly I don't know where they could have gone from here though - without feeling like a retread. Maybe Mojoworld? Ultimate Alliance was the natural next step and raised the stakes even higher. I wanted an X-Men Legends 3 at the time, but in hindsight, the direction they went in made sense to me.
@@ChannelNerdgasm dofp duh split timeline. Kind of alluded to it as sinister doublecrossed apocalypse. He could do something that results in sentinels being activated again because they don’t feature in xmen legends 2
They could do X-men legends 3 off the MUA3
Yeah, I always wanted them to do the Dark Phoenix Saga and the X-Men go to space and fight the Shi'Ar.
Yeah with all the exclusive character s from every version. I loved X-Man, he's my favorite character!
I played the bejeezus out of this game years ago, always tried a different team. So many hours of fun
I always loved that they added Villains to the playable roster
Me too. Just not enough of them to justify the X-Men/Brotherhood team-up IMO. Should have added Mystique, Blob, Pyro, and Sabretooth.
I was watching the part where you were talking about the Brotherhood of Mutans being underrepresented. I realized the Mistque has never been in one of these games....
Not playable no. A shame...
I agree, and I think it would have been pretty simple to add her moveset, too. Her special abilities could be weapon-based. A debuff she could have would be invisibility via copying the enemy’s player model, kind of like Black Panther or Nick Fury have those powers in MUA1. Lots of potential with Mystique
I remember the sugar man being a pretty hard boss. As a kid this game forced me to actually strategize
Apocalypse voice sound cooler and more intimidating in the 90s X-Men cartoon
Yeah John Colicos will always be Apocalypse to me.
I am not evil I just am
I lied
I am far above mutants as they are far above you
Apocalypse is a mood
I liked apocalypses voice in this game more imo
I always somehow preferred the first game. I thought it established the mutants’s universe better and had a lot of interesting sections like when we play some nostalgic flashback moments. Anyway, good games that deserve a bit more attention I think.
True and Magma is very Nice carácter.
"Where's Apocalypse's cape."
He probably just decide to follow Edna Mod's main rule: No Capes!
Maybe lol
PSP version has all characters but also Dark Phoenix, X-Man and Cable which is pretty good shame those ones didn't come to the other console versions shame beast is only on N-Gage.
A remaster should have like 200 characters good and bad. And then if legends 3 comes we should be able have 2 powers, multiple outcomes with choices being a major factor and custom outfits with armor and under armor being two seprate layers.
Yeah but pc version have my boy sabertooth(amd Pyro), so i would still prefer pc version over psp.
Iron Man is literally the most OP character in the entire game, it's ridiculously nuts how strong he can get
I never used him in this game lol
@@ChannelNerdgasm You really should try it once, his second upgrade special (the square button special) upgrades his attack speed and damage by insane amounts, include energy blast mastery up and he can easily get to doing 1,000 damage per uni-beam. It's ridiculously op (and gear just makes him even more broken)
If you have any the PSP version, then Dark Phoenix and X-Man are also playable characters and they are even more OP IMHO. There were mods to fully add them into the PC version.
@@lucariomew365 I haven't delveed into the psp version as much as I'd have liked to but I believe it
Dude seriously great video. but I gotta say, i spent half this video thinking you were moving and undermining the game , then realized it was just a speech pattern. Again great video, im gonna go play this game again.
It’s sad because I loved using Mystique in the danger room of X-Men Legends 1 all they had to do was copy and paste into this game
I know right? I get why Blob couldn't because he's slow, but Mystique could have easily been made a playable character
Channel NerdGasm Yes, even though blob did make a cameo in XML2 as well smh they really held out on us
I would love an x-com like turn based strategy x-men game.
Great review man!
Thanks!
It seems Beast's role in comics is to 'tank a hit' and be knocked unconscious or be taken as hostage in order to show the Big Bad as a major threat.
X-men legends 2 is better than the first game
It sure is i don't agree with the first one being better
18:20 "take care true believers"
I definitely liked both X-Men Legends games and I think that they were basically the best X-Men games that had came out on a game console overall while I was hoping that they would have made an X-Men Legends 3 game.
I think we were all hoping for an X-Men Legends 3 lol
@@ChannelNerdgasmyup i still am 😢
I agree with you 100%.
I've heard oh soooooo many good reviews about this game!! 😁😊 I'm still on x men legends 1 tho even the 1st x men legends game is a ultimate classic 🤗
i have the same feelings about 1 and 2 and I agree with these criticisms
Agreed l wish could play with Sabretooth.
On the PC, he is just a duplicate of Wolverine's skills with a different skin.
Pyro is the same as Sunfire without flight.
Best marvel game ever
"you can't have Apocalypse without Archangel"
Except in X-men Evolution
Well I mean for the most part lol. The iconic story is Apocalypse with Archangel as one of his horseman. Its not like he can't be done without him.
@@ChannelNerdgasm True. I think the closest we got from adaptation from that story was the Wolverine and the X-men version (the animated series from the 90's kind counts but Angel was only introduce in the episode where he becomes Archangel, not given the public viewers time to create empaty for him and make his transformation feel like a really big tragedy).
@@ChannelNerdgasm can you please do a top 10 villains for black widow and Elektra when you get a chance?
I never watched Wolverine and the X-Men. I should check out that version of Apocalypse at some point.
Thanks for the suggestion. They're on the list. So many topics so little time lol
I loved this game. I remember I was fighting Modok and at the time I was Nightcrawler, I was teleporting to dodge an attack and teleported outside the zone. Needless to say, my team got murked
I don't believe Modok was in this game , he was is Marvel Ultimate Alliance in the rolling building level , he's the one in the floating chair at the end of the level.
Are you thinking of Sugarman who bears a passing resemblance ?
@@robertmurdock1848 I know who Modok is. Probably was Sugarman, I haven’t played this since 06.
X-Men legends rise Apocalypse still better than crappy FOX X-Men films the only good one was Logan
X2 was pretty decent as well. Same with Days of Future Past lol
Channel NerdGasm ok that’s your opinion but my problem with the fox x men films they have bad continuity between movies they’re not very faithful to the comics like the X-Men legends games in the 90s X-Men animated series there’s more bad movies than good movies made by fox
I mean yeah, but they came around long before the MCU. Before the mainstream really started to accept the more comic accurate stuff in the movies. The Fox X-Men films (at least those first two) helped legitimize the genre. The games and cartoons are a different story because they were targeted primarily at kids. And they have continuity issues, but that's because they had to evolve with the changing landscape of superhero movies - and basically couldn't. Some of the movies are a mess, some fairly average, and some pretty damn good. But I don't get upset at any of the changes Fox made though. It was a different time. And in hindsight (now that Disney/Marvel owns them again) I don't think cutting up those movies is really necessary. I'll still end up rewatching a few of them years down the road. Because IMO some still work - maybe not with comic accuracy, but with their performances, themes, action sequences, etc.
This game was half of my childhood
They should remaster this game for the ps5
I think there would be far too many rights issues for this game to be re-released like that - but who knows?
@@ChannelNerdgasm you're most likely right. But after the X-Men make their MCU debut this game would sell units on all consoles. It's worth a few board meetings to hash out the details
We need this ported for all consoles
I often listen to the soundtrack of this game however I eventually turn it off as it gets depressing that I can’t go back to my childhood when I use to play this game
I was so lucky to have such an X-Men filled childhood having grown up with X-Men Tas, X-Men Evolution, Wolverine and the X-Men, the original X-Men trilogy and the two legends games
They are definitely the main characters I read in comics
I understand that Batman is the automatic best comic book character written and Superman is meant to be the best Superhero in comics
But to me my favourite character is Cyclops (use to be Wolverine) and the rest of the X-Men I think they mean so much to all their readers
Remaster please
At the very beginning of the game, when you level up for the first time, the game will ask you if you want the ai to automatically apply skill points or not. This can be changed in the character customization menu later if you want to change your choice. I find button mashers will say yes to the automatic assignment without reading what it's saying and then complain that the game is undoing their customization because they weren't paying attention.
I am aware that you can have the A.I. automatically apply skill points lol. But they don't really undo any customization. Once the points are spent (by you or the A.I.) - they're spent - end of story. You can pay to reset everything on a character - but that's about it. So I don't know what you mean when you say they undo everything - because they don't. I just brought up the fact that your special attacks will change - even after you set them to the ones you want. That doesn't make much sense to me. When I play, I only allow the A.I. to automatically spend points on characters I don't really play as or care about. If they spend points on certain attacks, that shouldn't mean those attacks are then assigned instead - it shouldn't matter. And I don't think the game tells you that will happen. That those moves will then be assigned.
@@ChannelNerdgasm That's really weird that your special attacks are changing because I'm literally playing through the game again right now and the ai never reassigns my powers or changes anything I've set.
The only thing they changed for me was the powers I had assigned - that's it. But again, I have the characters I don't really play as set to automatic spending - and they were the ones that kept having their moves changed. If the A.I. does do that when they spend points, it doesn't make much sense. It shouldn't matter if the powers they are leveling up or not are assigned to the character. And I don't think the game tells you the A.I. is going to do that by itself. I played through the PS2 version of the game to make this review. And it kept happening to me. Maybe you have automatic spending turned off for every character. Maybe that's it. But just because the A.I. levels up certain attacks, doesn't mean it should reassign powers. That's all I'm saying lol
@@ChannelNerdgasm True, I always play with manual customization for every character. I know there's like 3 different commands they have, too. You can make the ai automatically assign gear, stat points, or skill points individually. I think if you make the skill point one automatic, the ai will level up whichever powers and stuff it wants and assign the powers it chooses. Like I said, I've never seen this happen before because I always keep everything manual. So if I understand correctly, you're saying that you wish when you had ai auto assign on, you could still tell it which powers you want it to have, and then it will level those specific powers up however it chooses, right?
No. It can level up whatever powers it wants to. Just don't reassign the powers I have set for the character. That's what doesn't make sense to me. Just because the A.I. wants to level up a specific power, doesn't mean that power must be placed over top of another one lol. And in XML1 I always play with the auto spend off. But for some reason, I always leave it on for some characters in XML2.
Best game ever made need this for my ps5
My biggest problem with this game is it's supposed to have brotherhood playable . But no mystique blob avalanche pyro or blink . Jugg mag toad juggernaut and scarlet witch .
Pyro and Sabretooth are in the PC version , but their skill sets are copies of Wolverine and Sunfire with different animations , and no flight for Pyro.
@@robertmurdock1848 that's an attempt by them but a poor one at that.
It's Warren Worthington not William
Did I say William in the video? I probably said the wrong name by mistake while recording and didn't pick up on it in post lol
Please forgive me for being such a damn know-it-all,but it's pronounced RasPYOOtin. Very Russian. And Mikhail is Colossus' brother,so it's very appropriate.
I never had an issue with the shield guy my issue was with him is that. A ton of Sentinels never left him alone. Also I don’t know if anyone had this weird thing happened to them ? That A lot of extreme power tokens kept popping up in the middle half of the game ?
they need an upgraded ps5 chapter for these Legends games.
I always say that the Marvel games back in the PS2 era were there golden years what I like was that they made games of other Marvel heroes that wasn't just only Spiderman like Punisher and the Hulk mainly Hulk Ultimate Destruction and the movie tie games were mostly done well most of them sucks we never gotten that Daredevil PS2 game that would have been another childhood favorite. The PS3 era was kind a bit of a dark time for the Marvel games mainly because in those times Marvel games were made as movie tie games for the MCU and they were never good well the only one that was good was Captain America Super Soldier but that's the only one the only one that gotten a game that wasn't movie tie was Spiderman but that was it. Thanks to Spiderman PS4 and upcoming Marvel Avengers game if it succeed there maybe a chances that we will get the Golden Age of Marvel games back in the form of the supposedly Marvel Gaming Universe or the MGU for short. I personality would love to see a Marvel X-Men game were we can explore the X-Mansion like we did in X-Men Legends and maybe interact with the X-Men or other mutants in the school and do side quest like rescuing mutants, maybe it should be like Infamous were your actions will put you in ether the side of the X-Men or the Brotherhood of Mutants. I'm more surprise that Telltale didn't do an X-Men game mainly since X-Men would make a lot of sense then Guardians of the Galaxy because it can work for choices maybe play as a new mutant and with the choices of joining the X-Men or the Brotherhood of Mutants.
Why they didn’t make another game like this? i always love this kind of game of Marvel
Because Marvel: Ultimate Alliance lol
I grew up with this one I didn’t get to play the first one
I wish the new Ultimate Alliance game was available on Steam. It would be so popular with online co-op.
I wish it was on anything but Switch.
My brother broke my ps2 before I could play.
I remember when I first bought this game in a store I bought the game Guide for it. I took a while looking over the strategy guide and character guides for all of the characters before I decided on the team I would use I decided to go with Juggernaut, Collosous, Wolverined, and Storm for the ranged. After a little bit I found that it wasn't really very hard and got in a grove just going along destroying everything in my path cruised through till I got to act 3 and ran into a area boss no problem it was this weird looking guy Sugarman so I switch to Collosous to activate his extreme to make him impervious to damage and double his attack power 1 second into the fight starting I activate the ability it takes the extreme point it tries to activate the ability he dead it switches me to another character Juggernaut is knocked out boom 1 second later Storm is dead boom done to Wolverine and his health is almost dead I start running for my life well thanks in combination to Wolverine healing ability and Sugarman low HP I manage to squeak out a victory but I remember that caught me by surprise and I said okay I need to grind some and get my level up. During my first playthrough I never really found myself needing to use Storm much as my power characters were over powering everything until I made into the 3rd location in Act 3 when I started to get overwhelmed by sheer number of enemies and I got switched to Storm and started using her wind attacks and she just started juggling the enemies and I was like she is powerful. Later on I came to discover that I really liked using Sunfire I think that was his name. Using his ignite attack while it was a weak early attack it hit everything on the screen and could easily be spammed over and over again in fact I came to like all of the elemental characters.
Yeah I think I mentioned in the video that if you switch your characters up too much in XML2, the game starts wiping the floor with you in the later stages - at least it does with me. I think it's harder than the first one. Maybe...maybe not lol.
@@ChannelNerdgasm well again on my first playthrough I wasn't swapping characters unless I needed somebody for a moment to do something it's just when I ran into Sugarman he hits really hard and I got a little bit unlucky. Most of my first playthrough went pretty smoothly that was just a speed bump I ran into. Now on future playthroughs I did learn some tricks and character ability to get extra experience and levels also was you had cleared a act you could chose to run back through the act and gain some extra experience for your main team or even to pick the other characters to bring them up to part. Although 1 thing to note when running back through a cleared area there were noticeable fewer enemies and I think the bosses were gone but it but it could allow you enough experience to level the team and even over level a bit if you want.
@@robertgosney5657
I like just carrying over stats into a new game and getting the extra skill and stat points in the danger room as those reset with a new game.
I remember as a kid sugar man being really hard. This game literally forced me to strategize, to beat him.
My one problem with this game-characters you didn't use didn't get xp. So if a couple levels in you wanted to try someone else, you're screwed.
They do earn some XP when they are benched, but not enough. This game is harder than the first IMO if you keep switching out characters constantly. You don't really have much freedom in that sense lol
@@ChannelNerdgasm Funny that I only played the second one once. Meanwhile I've played the first one several times.
@@JnEricsonx I assume you enjoy the first one more? I sorta do too despite RoA improving the gameplay and RPG systems a little bit.
@@ChannelNerdgasm
The first game is alot harder than this one.
I still will die frequently for any careless moves in XML's early levels.
The only death in XML2 I suffer is Toad as an AI controlled character jumping to his death in the Cerci Caverns.
There's only one difficulty level in XML , while you have to beat XML2 in normal, but not easy , l just to unlock hard mode.
Hello!! Have you had the chance to compare the PS2 and Gamecube versions? I read the Cube graphics look slightly blurrier but the PS2 one has too many loading screens. I have the first one for the Cube and I don't know which version of this sequel should I get.
HI, I just played my Game Cube version hours ago on a 1080p screen and it was ok. However, I loaded up FIFA '02 and it looked solid on the Cube! So, I would say check out videos on CZcams or rent both.
They need to make a sequel to this game
I mean the sequel was Ultimate Alliance. They just went bigger and better. Expanded everything.
@@ChannelNerdgasm yeah I know, but I want just the X-men,they need more space, they need to be important again
I hear you. They need more mainstream hype. Maybe their debut in the MCU will help lead to other things again.
@@ChannelNerdgasm yeah maybe 😁

It may have been bigger , but XML2 is better than MUA.(for me)
I don't like the 3 passive skills tied to a specific costume , the one equipment piece instead of three , and absolutely dispise the Pitfall mini game.

He kinda lost me when he said “same ole shit” I didn’t like his tone of manner when addressing such a classic game. They did awesome with this game. Gameplay was 🔥. Story was 🔥. Artwork when the Game was loading up between maps was 🔥 . The Trivia was low key 🔥 and informational. Bloggers are ruining gaming. Game was very near perfect
The biggest flaw is this game is the excessive equipment drops and the need to take care of it to prevent the memory crash glitch.
I continue to replay this game , and its predecessor ,on a constant basis.
@@robertmurdock1848yeah and that portal glitch in act 4 is the real kicker lol i still love this game to death though

This game *FREEZES* it's *TERRIBLE* other than that it's good
Same old shit lol
I just got tired of explaining the RPG stuff we all understand over and over again. Especially now that I have reviewed XML 1, XML 2, MUA, and will be eventually reviewing MUA2 and MUA3...lol
This game always froze on me half-way through. I even tried to switch out a blockbuster rental and it still froze in the same spot.
That sucks. What crummy luck...
If you were leaving unwanted equipment and unneeded packs on the ground , this causes the game to crash near the end of ACT 3 or beginning of ACT 4 due to memory capacity and the large maps of those areas.
The game keeps 6 maps in temporary memory before clearing them out and repawning enemies and restocking the boxes ( the specific name escapes at the moment).
Pick up and sell all unwanted items to Beast/Forge and keep no more than 40 items in the weapon cache and that should fix the problem.
@@robertmurdock1848 that couldve been the problem. I wouldve never thought of that
@@michaelking2050
Yeah , the first time I played the game , it crashed on me as I started the Perimeter Platforms mission of Act 4.
I researched the cause and found out why it happened.
@@robertmurdock1848 I mean it's been years since I've played it, but I remember it was always around act 3 or 4, so that makes sense. Good looking out.
