Monteverde cloud forest is found at an altitude range of 4,000 to 6220 feet above sea level.
Temperatures range from the 50s to the 70s with an average temperature around 64°F.
There is also always a strong wind and a chill in the air so if you brought a long sleeve shirt or sweater and long pants you will want to wear them while you’re visiting this area. The wise advice to layer your clothing is especially good advice here as you will probably be doing lots of trekking so once you build up a sweat you can peel down a layer or two until you are comfortable again.
I am here now and took 4 of your recommendations. The waterfall was amazing--totally worth the $6 and the free workout. We have been to Stellas 2 times in two days! I recommend the cheesecake! Zocalos was amazing and the chocolate the sell is so delicious!!!! Thank you! Marie
Ahhh wonderful Marie! That makes me so, so happy to hear! Cheers

I loved this video. It had helpful tips on how to enjoy the Monteverde area. I love the tips on where to eat and places to hike.
Thank you so much Marcia!
I'll be visiting Costa Rica this year, and your content has been great for my planning! Question, I plan on spending a full day in Monteverde, and 2 full days in La Fortuna. If I do the hanging bridges in Selvatura, is it worth doing Mistico as well? If you only got to do one of these bridges, which would you choose?
Thanks for your help, and keep up the great work!
Hi! Oh I’m so glad! The suspension bridges at both parks are pretty comparable although at Místico you get to see the volcano (weather permitting) off in the distance which is pretty cool. Both are really great for animals and wildlife but I really recommend going with a guide otherwise you’ll probably just walk right by a lot of stuff :) I would suggest doing a zip line in Monteverde and a Hanging Bridges in Arenal or vice versa. There’s also repelling and other options so switch it up but visiting both parks will be different because the flora, fauna and views are different.
For food Manolos or Bar Amigos are the best! Locals price
Great Video thank you.
What kind of dogs are your black dogs? I had almost the identical dog as a kid...Love them!
Hi! Thank you! The little black ones are "designer" haha aka wonderful little mutts (the best kind in my opinion). Actually, they all are :) Love them too, they're so clever and super sweet. Happy Travels! Cheers!
Great video, do you know the best place to stay in Monteverde?
Also where would I find the guides for when I’m at Selvatora Adventure? Or Skywalk?
Hello Anne, When you book online there is a section on guided tours. If you purchase tickets at the park they can coordinate a guide for you, though you may have to wait to go at a specific time. These tours include the admission fee to the park. We chose the Natural History Walk which includes a little bit of everything. Canopy Tours are always guided.
Guided tours are essential for places like Monteverde Cloud Forest and the hanging bridges parks because while the bridges themselves are an attraction, you'll end up missing a lot along the trail between them and really not get the same experience.

Hope that helps! Thanks for the questions, let us know if you have any others. :) Cheers!
Great video! Quick question: what’s the name of the park that has the hanging bridge in MonteVerte please?
Thank you!!! There is the 1) Selvatura Adventure Park, 2) Aventura and the 3) Sky Walk. I personally like the Sky Walk but Selvatura is a close 2nd! 👏
Do all three of them have the hanging bridge? There’s one I kept seeing pictures of which located in MonteVerte and seem very interesting.
The arenal vacation is 3 hours away from Monteverde? Or 3 hours away from San Jose?
Hi Anne, So Arenal is about 2.5 to 3 hours from San Jose (Depending where you start from) and then it's about 3 hours from Arenal to Monteverde. Seems like everything takes about three hours ;) even if it looks close on a map.
@@SaltTravelCo , is that because from Monteverde to the Volcano, there is no strait shot ? On maps it looks like you have to take a large loop around or is it just typical CR Switch backs ?
@@joepidgeon3365 Yes, it’s just because of the windy roads. As far as the birds fly it’s not too far but takes time following the roads. It is a pretty drive however! Very nice views and glimpses into small town life. :)
Descendants of Quackers...lol
D'oh! Is that in the subtitles? Should I change it or leave it for comic value? ;) Good looking out either way
Should we book tours on site or before coming to Costa Rica?
Hi Jan Vuu, In my experience in Costa Rica it’s OK to wait until you are here to book (unlike some other places in other countries that require advanced purchase due to limited availability). Doing some research ahead of time about which activities you want to do in each place is a great idea because as I mentioned there are zip lines, canopy tours, quad adventures, etc. in many places so you can spread them out over the course of your trip. It’s nice to have some flexibility and not have everything booked ahead of time so that you can go with the flow, choose activities based on the weather that day and your energy level.
During December and the Easter week when tourism is at its peak you’ll definitely want to have your car rental squared away long before you arrive and any small flights plus entrances to parks that limit visitors such as Manuel Antonio. But for off-season or mid week there isn’t any need for advanced booking in most cases. Once you are here ask around for pricing and then compare online to see which has the better deal.

#lafortunada ;)
How do you get to Monteverde from SJO airport?
There are buses everyday which is the most economical way, renting a car gives you the most freedom of itinerary, semi-private shuttle companies like Interbus take groups of about 12 people daily, or you can hire a private driver / shuttle. I can elaborate on any of the options if you’d like. Happy travels!
@@SaltTravelCo yes please! I’m trying to decide on hiring my own car but how would I book a shuttle from the SJO to monte verde and vice versa?
can I ask why wearing a mask and applying hand sanitiser is mandatory before entering the place that will basically clear your respiratory system and skin anyway?
Gurgling river bed???? lol....are you sure it's gurgling?? and the water is cascading?? Nice...been there ..it's amazing...although locals don't really like gringos...The treehouse rest. was ALL booked up...place was literally empty....but they refused service to us....kinda odd...turning away money...but oh well....
Porque hay tantos gringos XD
Just remove the music and let people listen to Mother nature beautiful sounds
Why do you feed the monkeys?😢
Please don't feed the wildlife
