Episode 48 of Love At First Scent
This was a CZcams Live broadcast streamed on Friday 17 October 2019. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
In this episode, I covered Frederic Malle The Night, composed by Julien Rasquinet.

Here's the blotter update:
- The fruit note remains present in the drydown, but, as you'd expect, it's been overtaken by the dark, quite abrasive leather and saffron. Certainly well made, but not an essential part of the Malle range.
Thanks again for watching.

This is one of my favorite perfumes. I am very glad that Frederic Malle facilitated its creation.
Thanks very much indeed for watching.
Super great review as always***. thx for the share !! Have a great Friday & super awesome weekend as well bro. All the best.cheers
Thanks Amir, you too 😉 👍 😊
Persolaise! Wow, wonderful to finally see and hear you. I've read many of your reviews over the years and just stumbled onto your CZcams channel while looking for the Moon reviews. I agree with what you've said here. I'd like to add that the smokey acrid dry raspy wood with saffron reminded me of Guerlain's Songe D'Un Bois D'Ete. That tart berry fruit with dry wood and oud also reminded me of Thierry De Gunzberg's Thierrific Oud, and lastly, though it's much more cumin-y body odor and warmer, there's something about the dirtness of this that made me think of the deliciously naughty L'Artisan Al Aoud. I'd be curious if you feel the same textures here as Songe in particular. Overall I felt it was a wild ride moving through several phases for about an hour but then sort of settled into a pleasant but linear hum of a few accords, some sweet, spices, wood, hint of bitter green, etc... so big opening promise but fairly lackluster drydown.
Thanks very much for the detailed comment and for being a loyal reader.
Yes, I think I know what you mean about the Guerlain, but I'm not sure I entirely agree about the L'Artisan and I'm not overly familiar with the TdG. Is the drydown a touch disappointing? Yes, maybe, compared to the opening. I still think The Night is the best of Malle's 'Arabian' scents.
Smelled The Moon today - blown away!
Ah, wonderful 😊 Thanks for letting me know.
Just got the chance to sample The Moon by F. Malle. It was only on a blotter... But very memorable. So glad your review was just flagged up for me, Persolaise.
I'm so enjoying your reviews. Your personal replies to comments are very welcome. Thanks.
£320...Yikes.
The shisha angle in the description makes sense. 💡
Bad Karma... Top name.
Enjoying this in Manchester. Our "Curry Mile" has many shisha bars so I've experienced that smoky fruity scent on the evening air.
Thanks very much indeed for watching. Yes, it certainly isn’t cheap, but it’s incredibly beautiful.
Great review, I'm addicted to The Moon, despite that when I went out for a fancy dinner with my wife, I felt a bit uncomfortable as the opening notes are quite strong and a bit acidic. However, I have been enjoying this while I'm working from home. The leather note is superb
Yes, the danger of overdoing one’s scent.
Thanks very much for watching.
“Pornographic Raspberries” 🤣🤣🤣 There goes the innocence of this cheery fruit, along with the childhood memories usually associated with it! 🤣🤣🤣
😂 Sorry!
Thanks very much for watching.
I’m late but just wanted to say love the sweater 👌🏾
Oh, that’s so kind - thank you.
You're like the James Bond of perfumery😎
😂 Thank you!!! 😎
I love the smell of tart in the morning.
😂
Thanks for watching.
How did I miss this live?? 🤦🏽♀️🤗
Oh, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to give more notice. But thanks for watching the recording.
No not you at all. I had you tube on the whole time. It’s their rubbishness! Thoroughly enjoyed your take. 🤗🤗🤗
Rachel Grigg Oh dear, that’s annoying. But thanks for watching the recording anyway.
Sorry for this VERY late question, but do you think your opinion of this would be different if you hadn't smelled Tuscan Leather or Tuscan Leather Intense? That's where I am, I have a sample of The Moon and am really getting to like it more and more, but I've never sampled TL or TLI. Would you recommend trying those first? Thanks!
I guess that’s impossible to answer. But the point is, if you enjoy The Moon, then keep wearing it.
Yes probably so. Hard to project something like that! Thanks for the response though!@@Persolaise
Do you find The Moon similar to Ombre Nomade by LV? I find them very similar
Oh really? I can’t say the Malle reminded me of the LV, but I’d have to return to the latter to make a firm judgement.
Do you like The Moon?
I tried baying it form the website but it’s not available in the website for USA . Advise on how to get it ? Thank you
Really sorry, I’m afraid I can’t help. I’d contact the brand directly.
Oh no new phrase added to my vocabulary "fecal facets" 🤣😭
You’re welcome 😂
i tried Dawn and was seriously horrified by the chemically driven oud concoction. I will still sample the Moon but I'm not expecting anything.
I've bought and sampled alot of Areej le Dore and Bortnikoff and there's equal hit and misses. But its still worth a sample if you can find some.
With so many of you mentioning them, I think I’m going to have to track down those brands.
As always, thanks for watching 🙏
As I can see poor Moon didnt had any chance here. Video starts with clear agenda not to like the perfume because maybe it is Malles late bastard child. But my friend you are so wrong, it is remarkable perfume and judging from that little strip is criminal, put it on your skin, wear it like a man and then ask yourself, was I right the first time.
Peace and prosperity.
Ciao
Thanks for watching.
A review that can be anyone's. It is a funny attempt to speculate on the theme of the name: the moon. I think that a simple documentation/information would have provided a clear explanation why this fragrance has that name. Only its official description is enough to find the appropriate explanations.
Thanks very much for watching.
Are you gone from CZcams?
No, not at all. What makes you ask?
@@Persolaise haven't seen a recent review

🥰😘👏you are so nice 👍🏻
Very kind, thank you.
Why its so expensive? 😅🤪😄
Best wishes ♥
That’s not for me to say. I’d imagine the brand would claim it’s because of the cost of the oud.
Are you persian ?
Half of me is 😉
What makes you ask?
Haribo! Haha. 😄
😊
