Episode 52 of Love At First Scent
This was a CZcams Live broadcast streamed on Friday 6 December 2019. Unscripted. Unedited. Unrehearsed.
In this episode, I covered Comme Des Garcons Copper, composed by Alienor Massenet.
    Here's the blotter update...
    - First of all, I think I've worked out what this was reminding me of: Amouage Opus VII, by Alberto Morillas and Pierre Negrin. The fuzzy, peppery, spicy galbanum is very similar. But then I also found myself thinking of Guerlain Vol De Nuit, which isn't surprising, considering that scent's reliance on galbanum. Anyway, it's a firm thumbs up from me: Copper dries down to an intriguing woody-vanillic base that's just as 'sparky' and individualistic as the opening.

I think this is fantastic. The peppery vegetal green moves into something that reminds me of cinnamon red-hot candies, and then the skin scent to me is a sweet smooth gingery licorice. I just love it -- so unique, intriguing, and surprising. I have to try everything from Comme des Garcons now!

I have never seen your videos before but the magic of Copper brought me here. I did try this nearly 15 days ago and can't take it off my mind so finally I got a bottle. By the way, I do absolutely adore your review with your perfect and stylish English accent. Thank you very much from Spain.

As intriguing as the magic that lies beneath everyone’s chemical essence. I do personally consider it, until today, my personal best fragance discovery of 2020! Such a pleasure to share my opinion within your fabulous reviews! 🙏🏻

It is totally metallic at the start...you really smell the copper, like strong rusty iron ! But unfortunately it fades away pretty quickly! At the end of the day it smells like peppery vanilla! Still a unique niche fragrance! Nice review as always!

The copper sound interesting, particularly as you say it’s not metallic which was offputting to me . I’ve just discovered Black and it’s blown me away. Must explore this house more!

I totally understand your difficulty trying to describe your first impressions of it on camera in a public video! I sprayed it on my wrist in a department store yesterday and was entranced by it for hours afterwards. It softened after an hour or two and I got hints of rubber, warm sheets from the tumble drier and a fresh stick of Wrigley’s gum. Definitely tempted to buy.

I’ve just smelt CdG Copper today and it reminded me of one of the 3 original Dior scents from the private blend line.

Ah, interesting. I can’t say it reminded me of Eau Noire, but they may well have some features in common.

Haven't had too much experience with Comme Des Garcons fragrances, but I've recently picked up Kyoto and am loving it. Hope to get my nose on copper since I'm trying to add something ambery Oriental to my collection. Looking at Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan and Armani Prive Myrrhe Imperiale as possible purchases!

    Bonjour,
I don't know if you sometimes layer your fragrances. Try layering Copper with Aimez-moi comme je suis by Caron and tell me what you think.

    • @Persolaise

No, not especially. For me, the main thing that pops out of MR is the minty liquorice. Great fragrance!

I tried Copper for the first time only yesterday and I was really impressed with it. There are elements in it that reminds me of Caron's L'Anarchiste. Did you make any association like that?

@@Persolaise I smelt Copper again yesterday and on reflection it is quite different compared with L'Anarchiste. Far more galbanum green and amber in the base.
