    I actually really appreciated the fact that you kept repeating yourself with the over/under and with the top-right parts, because I was confused regarding the top-right/top-left, until you said it once more, about half way through the video or so, and it clicked, and it suddenly instantly looked 100 times easier to do. When I get a bunch of paracord, I will for sure try this. I have always wanted a nice whip.

    Finally made one!
    It's been on my todo list for a couple years. It came up a foot and a half short, then quickly stretched over the end of the core after a few cracks. I had to rebraid the end and reattach the fall. It's short and quick but it works. I have and 8 ft. Leather bullwhip and I think this short one actually helped understand the "physics " a little better. I look forward to using your newer methods and trying some different types. Thank you for taking the time to make the videos and sharing .

Planning to make another whip asap. Thank you for the awesome whip tutorial Nick, it was a huge help and made one of my dreams come true. It may have taken me 3 hours over 5 days to make it but I did it with a few modifications such as when I couldn't find a steel rod I cut a plastic hangar and used that for a rod and it worked great I also used a Harry Potter book instead of a concrete block. It took me a put of effort to make the whip because I had no vice to help as another hand. The last thing that I changed was the inner large paracord that was filled with BBs but I only had the one small size so I used that and it worked but I had to squeeze each BB into the small cord which took hang half of the time to make the whip.

      While plaiting, try tying the whip handle to the top of a doorframe or something, and plaiting down. The taping can still be somewhat annoying without a vice, but I actually prefer plaiting from a hook than from a vice.

    • @gabrielp1306
      @gabrielp1306 Před 3 lety +1

      Lol, amazon sells 500 ft rolls for $30, and you can buy 1/4 inch there as well. The stuff that comes off the roll isn't 550lb though, it's a lower number, but it should work fine. If you really want to be sure, just find a store and buy the expensive stuff, and see if some friends would buy one or two for like $20 or something.

    Hey Nick, so did everything even with the extended strands (24ft) and wound up almost 10 inches short. I barely passed the electrical taped core at the end and only went onto the uncovered core about 1-2 inches. It still cracks but I am just curious what I may have done wrong here.

      Hi Noah, might be the brand of paracord. Try these lengths.
      6ft, 16 Plait Bullwhip (Assuming 10" Handle)
      FIRST BELLY: SECOND BELLY: OVERLAY:
      2 x 11 ft 2 x 17 ft 2 x 24 ft
      1 x 8.5 ft 1 x 11.5 ft 1 x 20 ft
      1 x 6.5 ft 1 x 9.5 ft 1 x 13.6 ft
      1 x 5 ft 1 x 10.5 ft
      1 x 8 ft

      Melvin Romero don't pull them so tight towards the handle. After cracking it a few dozen times it all all started getting loose, pull the strand tight more towards the end so when you crack it, it doesn't pull the strands towards the end. Hope this was helpful!
