What do you even say at this point? I gave my final thoughts on Twitter yesterday, didn’t even know about this video at that point.
I was hasty after his response, I shouldn’t have said he needn’t apologize. He should have and he did, and we need more. No question.
But, It’s hard to believe that your friend, someone you’ve witnessed being kind, thoughtful, helpful and honest in every personal interaction you’ve had with them is a liar, a fraud, a thief. Someone who would steal from charity.
It’s not the reality you know.
I can’t defend him, I don’t have his story or evidence, just his (provenly) poor initial defense. I can hope, I can use my experience to assume the guy I believe I know isn’t the monster he’s being made out to be. But that’s it. I’m only human and this is hard. Mentally taxing.
You want to fight for your friends right? You want to stand by them. That’s what real friends do. At this point he’s accountable for his story. Everyone, especially the donors deserve the truth. His friends do too. I hope that truth coincides with innocence and understanding. If it doesn’t? It’s gunna hurt. It’s gunna hurt real bad.
    Not much more to it.

It's natural to not be quick to judge someone for something when you've personally known them for a while, and they've never shown any kind of shadiness to you or anyone you know. I've had a couple people in my life that I've known since grade school do some bad things, and it took me time to realize that sometimes good people do bad things.

Just my two cents but I feel that when someone you call a friend is accused with backing of something nasty, the real true friend thing is to interrogate them and get to the bottom of it. Why be that harsh? Because if someone really cares about a friend they don't stand by them when they accused of wrongdoing with evidence, but instead tests the friend against the evidence. If it turns out there is a good explanation then by all means stand by that friend, but if the answers are full of holes or manipulation well, you're lucky you didn't found out by his betrayal. Will it hurt? Yeah, but I believe it's the most respecful thing one can do for a friend in this situation, as it respects their individuality and will of choice, even if they make stupid dumb or even evil decisions

Not making contributions from a foundation of this size is fairly common. Finding organizations to make donations to and following up on the status of grants is incredibly challenging, time consuming, and costly. Quite frankly, it makes sense to consider accumulating more money before you start making grants from an entity this small.
It is impossible to "get money out" of a private foundation without doing it illegally. This is one of the most scrutinized areas of tax for the IRS because of the "power" of having 501(c)(3) status. I can't say that the money isn't gone, but if they were to be audited and they couldn't produce the cash they claim to have, I wouldn't want to be them.
They have not filled out Part IX, Part X, and Part XI of the 990-PF. This is the section that would calculate the minimum amount to be distributable by the organization. Non-operating Private Foundations, which this organization is, are required to distribute a minimum amount of their assets that are held for things other than charitable purposes (such as investment of funds for endowment purposes). If a private foundation does not comply with this, they could owe tax on the undistributed funds and potentially risk losing their 501(c)(3) status. Note that they report their cash as non-interest bearing on the balance sheet. They are saying the cash is being held in non-interest bearing accounts essentially ready to be deployed for charitable purposes when it arises. Since these funds are not being invested or bearing interest, that seems to be reasonable basis to take this position.
They are considered a Private Foundation, but they do not file a Schedule B. The implication here is that no single person gave more than $5,000 to the charity. I don't know the break down of their contributions, but I would wonder if they could potentially qualify for Public Charity status. Public Charity status is even better than being a Private Foundation. There are no requirements for a public charity to distribute money ever under any circumstance and there is no tax on investment income like there is for private foundations.
Overall, this was a hit piece done by layman CZcamsrs who have no experience working with Private Foundations, their tax returns, or their financials. I can't say that there isn't anything going on with this Private Foundation, just as I can't say that for any Private Foundation for which I do not have access to the bank accounts of. But the implications they try to make and accusations they throw are completely unfair and unjustified and they have no basis for making them. The private foundation hasn't made charitable disbursements yet and it is not required to by law based on its facts and circumstances. Don't like it? Don't donate to it. But this is hardly out of the ordinary for a private foundation of this size. They do not have nearly the assets yet to justify a large amount of activity. To call this mismanagement or negligence is a gross misunderstanding of how these things work.
The videos made on this are COMPLETELY UNFAIR and are done just for youtube views and youtube profit. If they actually gave a damn about this, they would have consulted an expert. But they didn't care. They made their video in an attempt to slander the guy and break a sensationalized story using tax returns that neither they nor their audience understand.

Speaking of the Discord call, anyone else finding it sus when he corrected the year of his 'discovery' of the dormant money from "2021" to "2022, last year"? I know that the term "last year" is easier to remember than a specific date, so I think meaning "2021, two years ago" instead of "last year" would be a much more understandable mistake, especially since time flies. Instead, he had specifically "2021" hard-printed in his mind; the only way that mistake would make sense is if he was under the impression that it was still 2022, but I'm pretty sure that Discord call was made at least halfway through 2023. Even then, if he had mistaken that it was still 2022 and he made the discovery in 2022 as well, it would still be weird to have "2021" hardprinted when it's supposed to be "this year" when he discovered the dormant money.
To me, it makes much more sense if he had initially hard-printed 2021 as the date of his discovery, THEN realized that it still made him look bad for doing nothing with said dormant money for two whole years, and thus changed the date to 2022 to make himself look better. We've seen from his response video that he's prone to changing the story around constantly (a classic attribute for liars since they easily forget their lies), so who's to say he didn't lie about the year in the call either?

I remember when Tomska revived Eddsworld and promised all revenue (not just profit) would go to charity and funding would just be from crowdfunding and his own pocket.
And guess what, he did all that, even having to spend about 50k of his own money to back the show so he could keep his word. And it was very easy to prove bc there's videos, pictures, donation and tax records, that are very public to see of him doing it.
And he did this in his early 20s without the help of a charity his father started decades before. So no, it's not that hard to donate money to charity and keep your word.
People trying to defend Jirard and his family bc they like him and that charity is complex are completely off base. None of his lies, the unaccounted for funds, the 600k that sat there for years, are justified by this argument.
If the Khalils really cared about charity they would have made it work easily and there would be straightforward evidence.
Jirard, with the most gratious perspective on this, had over a year to handle this, still did another Indieland and still lies about the donations and what they've done.
It's not that hard to do the right thing.

That thumbnail image of Jirard made me laugh for the first time with this story

Remember there are 2 SIDES to the story. Learn to wait before forming your opinion. Some idiots on the Internet including Jirards friends didn't seem to understand the concept.

Ok I know we are all watching the same video but where did the race card part of the problem come from? Especially when this was about a CZcamsr lying about making donations for years.

My favourite part is how the initial response to Jirards video was mixed, leaning to positive.
People can't even think for themselves.

When Pat mentioned the buying power, my god was he right! Never even occurred to me, but yeah the value of a dollar, even using old guidelines, it's 3% per year. That is basically 30% lost right there. Then factor in the pandemic and such after... it'll be a lot lost.

Did they think of getting in contact with the dude who left The team of the completionist, obligating him to remove videos featuring him, and forcing the New Game Plus era?
Did this guy know SOMETHING about THIS ????

yeah @@lanceuppercut6168 in hindsight maybe he knew some despicable sides of things being close to Jirard when he was in troubling parts of his life (losing his mom), which is sad for him and family since now they have been culpable of misleading people for years all around the memory of a woman they wanted to honor

The most lenient take for Jirard at this point is that he's a well meaning oblivious fool who got nepotistically roped into the "family buissness" under false pretenses and he had unknowingly been complicit in fraud until 2 years ago.

thats my take his family where going to cash out when jirad had stopped bieng a youtuber keep jirad in the dark. apparently in the call jirad said he got into arguments with his family when he said he wanted to donate it. the only reason i can think of why they would be oppsed to it is to keep the money there for there own interests

If this man hadn't been exposed he would've taken all that hard earned money and disappeared to the country of his choice.
All of a sudden he was found out and finally decided to do what he said he's been doing.
