This probably happened before Sloan was born or when he was in nappies. We’ve known of this for years. It was huge news in the 90s however no one did much about it. Woody Allen was huge in those days so he had protection and she’s not a white girl in a different time which lessened the impact of everything. Watching something from 30 years ago through today’s lens is always going to hit a little different.

Mental Health Therapist here... thank you for sharing this video. It does seem like Soon-yi was groomed. It is unacceptable to have your Mother’s boyfriend around for years and “claim” he wasn’t a “father figure”, that’s exactly what he would be. Even if Mia was a mean and neglectful Mother (it’s not okay, she should have done better as an adoptive parent) but what Soon-yi and Woody did is Betrayal. The allegations against Woody that claim he molested Dylan are very sad and show a pattern of attraction to minors, allegedly. Think about it... he asked for a blonde child to adopt, allegedly. People who have Pedophile tendencies will never stop. The strangest thing about Soon-yi and Woody’s relationship is that they have two adoptive children who seem like little versions of Dylan and Soon-yi, allegedly. Could there be a new cycle of abuse? i am a korean adoptee. this is a very controversial issue in the korean adoptee community because moses farrow is a prominent figure who helps korean adoptees who are struggling with mental trauma. yet people say he also denies and ignores the grooming and abuse experienced by soonyi and dylan, as he has come out to defend woody allen. idk what the truth is, but i do want people to know that adoption itself is incredibly complicated, people dont even view your own relationships with your parents or siblings as legitimate sometimes just because youre not "blood related". including the parents sometimes. a lot of abuse and grooming does indeed happen. and you may hear disgusting racial stereotypes from your own family. i get mistaken as my dads mail order bride all the time. i cant even go out with him without stares as an adult. its incredibly frustrating. i think this issue is simply an uncovering about the truth about international adoption. its not always rainbow stories. this case became well known because its a hollywood story, but many of our stories which may be similar are never heard about.
I hate how vulnerable kids are in Hollywood. It's literally terrifying to think you can't trust anyone you have around your child because of what they do and get away with because they can buy their way out of the courts system.

He was there around Soon-li as a father figure in her home, a lot it seems when with his adopted daughter Dylan to an extreme that Dylan says was traumatic abuse and from which she struggles to recover and speaks out, the self self justifying is gross behavior.

The amount of support Woody Allen still has in Hollywood is so upsetting and truly shows how performative celebrity activism is. Even celebrities who are considered "unproblematic" have actively defended him, such as Selena Gomez and Blake Lively. With Blake Lively I find it specially disappointing since she has been so vocal about protecting minors from abuse.

I have heard of the allegations against Woody Allen, but I never really dived deep into his personal life, and I never was aware of this! This is absolutely insane and disturbing! It doesn't matter if he never cared for Mia's children in a fatherly way and that her adoptive children are not biologically related to her, it doesn't change the fact that LEGALLY they are his ex's children. How the hell can people just get away with this??!! Especially since he knew Soon-Yi when she was a child!
While all of that is true, and none of it illegal, this definitely falls into “Don’t shit where you eat” category. Even if they didn’t have a father -child relationship, you just don’t go after the daughter of the woman you were dating long term, and just broke up with! It’s really inappropriate. Like REALLY. It’s all so cringe. Also the age difference. Again, nothing illegal, but still. Of course, his character in Manhattan was breaking the law, and everyone called it genius. As an adopted child, Soon-Yi has being adopted at an age where she has memories of her past, meaning that she is highly susceptible to have abandonment issues and other type of issues a lot of adopted children go through. This might be why she ended up gravitating towards Allen. She is truly looking for a parent figure.
In any case, I don't believe the relationship is healthy but there is definitely a lot more to unpack.

When this was made public in the early 90's there WAS a lot of backlash. But Woody was a powerful man and a lot of people had a lot of money invested in him. And his publicity machine went into overdrive, turning public opinion against Mia. And it worked.
Who knows? Maybe Mia Farrow is a terrible mother. But it doesn't excuse the grooming that Woody Allen did.
It's still more believable that they changed public opinion against Mia to dismiss her as credible accuser or witness. And he trained soon yi so well she said whatever he told.her.

The daughter is basically repeating what her husband told her to say. This is the most OBVIOUS case of grooming I've EVER seen! Seems like the mother was strict and teen rebellion went too far. She was 'attracted' to him since she was groomed to be attracted to him. Did she ever date anyone else? Giving me major Celine Dion vibes, as her hubby groomed her and she seems to never have been with anyone else.

I've personally never heard of any celebs doing that, or at least not from any of the ones I have followed, their children get good nannies and are in some of the most prestigious schools. They've always hired help. Not to say that it doesn't happen, I'm sure it does. And that most certainly could be the case here. But when I was a child, I was expected to do chores and my parents didn't have to ask me nicely. Lol. I was in trouble if I didn't follow their rules. Etc.
True, but me knowing how rich white people (or rich people in general) DO/HAVE adopted foreigner children only to treat them as indentured servants or as virtue signaling trophies, I am very inclined to believe the same might have happened to Soon-Yi. And as others have mentioned, if a rich ass person who can afford all the maids in the world make their adopted kid do chore, it can very well be abuse. Abuse comes in different forms, remember that.
There actually are wealthy whites families that adopt kids from foreign countries to treat them as slaves., I keep remembering this one incident, I was 16 and attending a graduation. Couple seats ahead of me was a family that our family had known for years, they had adopted a little boy from Cambodia. At the graduation, the little boy had already grown into a teen and his older brother was graduating. What was so strange was that the whole family was sitting, watching the graduation but the boy was standing off to the side. The older boy made some sort of speech and brought roses over to his parents, and they all scooted to make room for him., but the adopted kid was still standing at the side. It was a three day weekend graduation, on Sunday, was the actual graduation event. He was again standing somewhere alone while his adopted family sat together. It was so strange, I was like wth. A loving mother and father does not let their child be standing aloof like that, even if the child is behaving in the worst way.,… Many years later, I’m still thinking about this because now I’m wondering if they do not care how they treat him in public, how do they treat him in private? I pray for that kid and I worry about him
My mom was adopted from Vietnam and treated like a servant by her white adoptive parents. They had 4 other children that were treated really well.

By those standards my own Mom was majorly abusive. Not only did I have to do housework but I had to babysit my younger siblings as well!!!

Poor girl. Take out the sexual aspect and this would be the quintessential father-daughter relationship: learning about his film work, travelling, going on carpets for movie premieres, etc. I’d assume her attraction towards him stemmed from her desire for a father figure which makes this relationship okay for her. Also, speaking from the perspective of an adopted child, we come from trauma and our view of love and what that’s supposed to be becomes very warped because of our experiences. I have no knowledge of her life in Korea but if she came from a household in which she was abused, sexually or otherwise, by her father or merely came from a household with no parenting, then this relationship allows her to have what she thinks she desires or deserves.

Not 11 like I thought. A simple google search will show you that Brooke being photographed nude at age 10, with her disgusting mother’s consent, is indeed a “basic fact”. Not to mention the movie pretty baby, which was also inappropriate.
