Imagine you're interviewing one of your heroes and in the middle of that, the person says you're carrying on the legacy of a sorely-missed juggernaut of your field. The minute she got some privacy, I bet she either cried, screamed, or both at the same time. Anyway, I hope that hearing from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar about activism helps more folks get involved.
the hand to hand comparison, too, was a moment - i'm so happy for sarah
This is what a fully empathetic human being almost automatically does after being heavily praised.....we look for a way to return the favor. That's who Kareem is.
Perfectly said
You could see Sarah was just in awe. Great interview. Kareem is someone who can inspire all of us.
curshing out
Yeah, that was so interesting to watch. She's Sarah Freaking Silverman and SHE'S starstruck/nervous! Really enjoyable interview.
Nawm she needs to balance her awe with professionalism. She's not the first person to interview one of her heros. Needs to do better. Job 1st, fangirl later.
@@Lucian_Media agree with you.. I miss Trevor he was honestly perfect at everything
Yep, you might even say she was….awful.
So humble. What a beautiful soul.
❤️ truly a great man of his time 👍✌️🖖
💯👍✌️🖖😎⭐🏆
She totally geeked out and let it all show and that was beautiful to watch with someone so humble and so accomplished
Indeed!!!
Word!
Kareem is an extraordinary contribution to humanity.
You fishing for likes? You had to edit this?
@@charold3 I edited a misspelling, and I do hope people like a correctly speellleed senteense. 🙂.
@@hcharton5722 Haha
He's perfectly happy with passing the torch, Great man
But he will always be an NBA LEGEND.
@@rogerscalf231 X 1000+++++++
Show em how it’s done.
With class and style ❤
He is the GREATEST
Kareem is a stand up guy, We need more people like him
Amen🙏🏽💜
All Muslims are
❤️ EXACTLY 👍✌️🖖😎
Then... we need to *be* more people like him.
Of course Kareem is a stand up guy. Nobody would recognize him if he sat down!
After retiring Mr. Jabbar worked as a volunteer coach at an Appache high school. He wrote "My Year on the Reservation" about the experience...warm, funny, and worth seeking out. I've not forgotten it.
I loved this, and cried like a baby when he saw Robin in her, and then when he mentioned his "why" being Emmitt Till- this was such a beautifully done interview. Sarah did a wonderful job, too, and I'm so grateful that she brought him on.
Kareem is a class act on and off the court. My mother was a big fan and never missed a game he played. She admired him for being such a stand up guy. Thank you Kareem for showing humans how to act
When I heard LeBron sent an entire school district to college that was ALL I needed to hear about his character. Character, to me, is EVERYTHING!
He didn't send them to college his sponsors send them. Its not lebron money, it's the corporations money.
Sarah is completely star struck and I love it!!! Kareem is so rare.
I love Kareem Abdul-Jabbar! He is my favorite basketball player and such an activist 💯💯💯
Yeeeeessss 👍🏽
being close to kareem's own age and a native California, i followed him as lew alcindor at ucla .
@@davediamond7228 I'm California to I'd had no idea how wonderful Kareem is, I'm so grateful I was here to listen & learn from Kareem and Sarah
Me too
@@davediamond7228 yes same here too
“We tend to have shame about our feelings but that is what we are”. So true!
Top Notch choice in requesting Mr. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to speak. He certainly embodies humility, respect, reverence, honors History, intelligence in every category shown, joviality, and clearly kindness.
I have not been a person familiar with his life and that has now changed. What a worthy person to learn from and support.
Kareem trained with Bruce Lee. Magical man, magical life.
He was also was the final boss against Bruce Lee in the movie Game of Death.
I LOVED watching Sarah fangirl over Kareem! ❤️❤️❤️ You could see the true admiration by how flustered she got. She's usually cool as a cucumber. It's so genuine 🥰
wonderful interview! Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is an incredible example of someone who is the change he wants to see in the world.❤️
Absolutely! Thought I knew enough, but like many Black hero’s, deep layers of human wisdom revealed.
Love that ❤
@@shameonisrael Nothing like breaking the old stereotypes, tho it's just confusing to some.
When she said they asked who was the one person she would want on the show and said Kareem Abdul Jabar, I laughed because I thought she had just come up with an absurd and funny way to introduce him. Now I believe she really is a super fan of his. This was great. I loved it.
Also, I love that this is a Muslim and a Jew talking together and it's not even a point of discussion. Beautiful.
And I'm sure he knew what she meant by "mitzvah". What a mensch. What a gentleman.
She's so giddy! I love how geniunly she admires him! And how casual this interview was. So cute. I would be asking my idol questions the same way
I love Sarah Silverman she's a genius and a comic legend
Definitely genuine and I didn't see that coming. I learned a few new things about Kareem but I also learned a lot about Sarah.
Side note. Everyone should watch his classic scene in Airplane! For a non-actor he had the perfect line delivery, and that very brief moment of him looking around before grabbing the kid by his shirt collar was comedy gold.
I just did..it was awesome!
Kareem wearing his basketball shorts when they are helping him after fainting WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MOVIE for me. The writers of the movie left no joke out.
This is the CUTEST and sweetest interview I've ever seen. Adorbs!!! Mágico!
What a great interview. I admire Kareem for being the humble and caring person he is.
great interview? she was a bumbling idiot the entire time..
I love the banner under his name: *NBA LEGEND*
That's all you need to know about this man. I had the privilege of watching him scrimmage some of my team (the Suns) and the rookies/tryouts during a hot summer day in Phoenix at Veterans Memorial Coliseum as a kid. They would hold Rookie Camps there, because (I'm dating myself) it was one of the newest facilities of its kind. This man created so many amazing memories for basketball fans. I know now that I was lucky to watch him play.
Wow the way he talked about Robin Williams and complimented her unexpectedly hit me right in the feels. So heartfelt and just shining with humanity and admiration.
This interview is so sweet and adorable and also thoughtful. I love seeing Sarah being a total fangirl without forgetting why she's there. And Kareem is his usual amazing self. Gracious, sincere, and thoughtful. So glad this happened.
Trinidad 🇹🇹 American basketball 🏀 goat 🐐 Kareem-Abdul Jabaar! So thankful I watched his career & activism
Starstruck Sarah... crushing hard and what an awesome interview 👏🏼
Kareem will always be a legend both as a player and a humanitarian
I like her combination of innocence and intelligence. She is open and friendly. A great host!
Such a kind soul you can hear it in his voice , see it in his eyes and smile and most of all in his example for generations of young people .. and now I have chills after what he said to Sarah about Robin .. he’s pretty right on , and not just about that about the hate and the planet too ! He is a true sports hero from an era of true hero’s!
KAJ is a really great American. I love and respect him even more now. What a gracious man!
"Should I end it?" I'm so used to them being all sad a regretful and saying how they have to end it here, being able to just continue talking is beautiful. You can really see that she's meeting her hero and she doesn't know where her hands should go and it's adorable.
I love the way he spreads positivity all around ever since he was inspired by the death of Emmett Till. That's what we need more of in the world
Two of my favorites…. Loved how Sarah wanted to put her face in Karem’s hand.
It was obvious there were honest feelings there.
Yes! Thank you for asking about Bruce. Those two were freaking amazing.
Wow! ! 😃
Kareem telling her that she has: "... revived the spirit of Robin Williams", brought tears to my eyes. . . 😅😢😁
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar! Always admired him! He's an amazing individual!
This is an Emmy winning episode. Sarah Silverman is in her bag. More of this. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Seriously. Sarah found her new calling! 😳💯💯💯❤️
This? 🤔 This was genuine but too stumbling and bumbling. She needs to level up. This is not the local news talk show. If you can't fangirl AND get the job done, You ain't ready.
Loooool
I think she still has a learning curve. She is smarter and more curious than she has come across in these interviews, and she’s more pragmatic and loving than she has been during the news segments. It must be incredibly hard to jump into this job, though.
sarah age 52 to kareem age 75 : i remember when u where 14 🤔
It's so nice to see Kareem get his flowers while he's still here to smell them.
At one point, the caption read, "NBA Legend". Sorry, but Kareem is an American Legend. He is so much more than a basketball player.
Sarah took this champ and turned him into a normal person who just took what was given to him and made the best of it. And it was just enough to make him a hero to many people. We can all be just as important to someone.
As a 64 year old..I remember his USLA dominance..and what he went through..and I was a Celtic fan..what an amazing man.
He did it scoring 2 pointers... And started at 22 (James = 17) AND won 6 NBA Championships AND 4 UCLA Championships AND did all this from 1966. That's way more impressive
You are absolutely right and correct.🏀 He's a legend and a wonderful human.🤗
It's harder, but that does have to be balanced against the fact that the three pointer is harder to complete.
Actually he won 3 UCLA championships. Back then Freshmen had to play of the Freshman team, and in fact the varsity team didnt win in his freshman year. BUT...His freshman team beat the varsity team, who were at the time the reigning NCAA champions
FACTS
I met him in Eugene Oregon in the 70s playing at Mac Court I just remember he's so tall and very kind
I got to meet KAJ as a teenager and he was so gracious and down to earth. He signed a T-shirt for me and held his hand up and we compared hand sizes. My lady hand wasn’t even as big as his palm. At the time I didn’t really know what a big deal he was because he was so nice and chill.
What a great guy. Also, RIP Mr. Rogers. I've never seen Sarah star-struck before.
It was absolutely adorable how enabled she was with him. Like a high school crush. I really hope she gets the gig full time.
I am deeply touched by this, and wish it could've gone on even longer. But thanks to Sarah for getting this interview, and being so geeky respectful. What a great, kind, gentleman, and what a cute and thoughtful in terview.
She asked some great questions! I love this interview.
I haven’t seen any interviews with Kareem and I’m happy that he’s a gracious dude, even when he’s off the court.
Kareem is the best!!! He was my favorite player and it's wonderful to see him talk with Sarah (another favorite of mine) about growth life, being human and his role as an activist. Thank you guys!!!
Glad someone (network) took the chance to interview Kareem. We all know the major networks wouldn't take a chance since they think most wouldn't when we actually really would tune in. Great interview!
He is a treasure.
My man, I still remember the sky hook during those Championship games against the Celtics. What a great man. and Sarah what a joy to see on the Daily Show
I heard Kareem speak at a conference, and I was in awe of his academic knowledge, thoughtfulness and humanity. I had been a fan of the Lakers, but I didn’t know the man, just his basketball. That day I learned who the man is and he inspired me. Thank you, Kareem.
Smart, gracious, what a man!
This is a most delightful, insightful, touching and meaningful interview. Sarah's genuine excitement with his charm, heart, and humility was magic.
More of this Daily Show! 💜✊
One People
One Planet
Kareem also wrote some incredible Sherlock Holmes novels. The man has so much depth and breadth! 💜♾️
I've watched all of the guest hosts - Sarah is the first one who actually gave me shives in this interview. I hope she gets a more permanent gig here!!
Sarah is great, love her genuine interest in the guest and how open she is about preparing for interview, making notes so on and so forth
This interview was amazing I had no idea Kareem was so interesting, in the deep way I like to hear about.
Same.
This is one of the very best genuine interviews I have ever seen in my life!!
Great man! Sarah is so cute, gushing over Kareem.
Kareem is too often overlooked when people talk about basketball GOATs. He is also a very intelligent and thoughtful man.
This is a beautiful mixture of being a fan, and a professional interviewer. Sarah's playful, energetic, delivery made this fun to watch.
Kareem is a legend and a philosopher
Wow, Sarah, there was a lot of heart in that interview. Thank you for bringing him.
The very best interview I have seen in a very long time. THANK YOU SARAH AND KAREEM! ❤️
This is so genuine from Sarah
Absolutely stunning, what a deep, emotional and honest interview, I’am really impressed and touched
*One of the best interviews ever to go down in history within the history of Talk Show History.*
Here in Wisconsin, we know, love, and miss Kareem!
What an incredible interview at an incredible time, after Lebron made his milestone and talking about Airplane with Sarah! Really amazing!
What a human. Great player, greater person
Sarah Silverman is like Charlie Rose impersonating Gilda Radner. This is excellent interviewing.
Isn't it like Gilda impersonating Charlie?! 🤔
I was a huge Celtics fan in the 80's. I always said "Beat LA" with pride. I am also proud to say that I Love Kareem. He is a true inspiration. Thank you Captain for being the greatest.
Sarah so in awe & imperfect is lovely. Just as it should be. ❤️ to both for a fabulous interview.
Love everything about this interview. It’s so moving. And yes, We’re so different but the same! Thank you!! Why is that so hard to see for so many?? Like Bob said, “One love! One heart! Let’s get together and feel alright!”
Great interview with a humble living legend, Sarah
As odd as the interview was they both did an amazing job.
I am 68 but was not a ball fan when he was young and in college but was very aware of him and as his professional life progressed and i was still unaware of how cerebral he was but my attention was always piqued with every mew revelation of depth and ease he had doing it all including movies and his complexity was on fire!
Anyway, from Lew to Kareem, all his life was a great display of "poetry in motion"! Thank you Kareem, you are beyond anything else i can offer and thank you Sarah, i really enjoyed this!👍🏼
Smart, gracious, compassionate, funny…Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the template of a legendary human being.
This is awesome that it wasn't an interview, but more of Sarah meeting her idol , and Kareem is very much, the embodiment of humbleness, and being a class act
Kareem has one of the best post-NBA careers. He is quite a fine writer among his many talents.
Sarah was definitely giddy! Love it!
never seen her so happy, fr. lol it’s adorable
What a profoundly Human being Kareem is! I so admire him and how he's spent his life's work trying to make this a better place. Love Sarah as a host, too. She has the potential to bring back some of the gravitas of the Stewart years.
It would be a big step, but I hope she (re-) considers it.
I am certain I have seen genuine interviews in the past, but now I wonder how genuine they are, after seeing this one.
I want Sarah to keep hosting, she’s fantastic
She said on her podcast that she doesn’t want the gig. This wast just for fun.
As interviews go, that was a masterpiece.
really?? Technically, it was a terrible interview, the interviewer spoke more than the interviewee, and barely asked any actual questions! BUT - I loved every minute. It was wonderful listening to a couple of genuine people chat to each other about wonderful things. And watch Sarah getting flustered and fangirling hard, lol
Very 1st day on the job type interview. At her level, it's almost inexcusable.
Excellent selection Sarah
I love this amazingly great beautiful human being. As an athlete but even more so as a person. I think of him and think of Roberto Clemente, both of them amazing athletes but in a whole new class as human beings, always looking out for others not just themselves.
what a lovely interview
He gave her very sweet compliment while remembering some great people.
a great interviewer allows and positions the guest to speak.
Refreshing interview. Love both of them. Lots of respect to both. Inspiring people. Love Kareem.
I went to this taping. He is such a sweet guy. Love him. Sarah was great, hope she gets the gig.
I loved Sarah interview style. At first I thought it was awkward but actually I loved Sarah's organic energy. Sarah has such a beautiful energy and that Robin Williams compliment to Sarah from Kareem was such a gem 💎 Sarah will grow and appreciate that later.
