- Stellar Blade is out in 3 weeks and with the demo out now I played through it twice to get a feel for the game. Today I wanted to share my thoughts on that demo and how the gameplay is a bit different than I expected.

Eve seems like a cool and unique character (i like how she uses her sword as a hairpin when not using it). Combat was good.
But what i am really looking forward to is the semi open world, the side quests, etc. I think this is gong to be a fantastic game.
People just love to complain about a bunch of nothing.

Some criticisms of the game itself are warranted, but yeah people complaining that the character is attractive are definitely stupid people

The problem with social media is that it thrives on conflict because that drives engagement. Only the most extreme takes get attention and people on many platforms have a monetary incentive to magnify a controversy.
It doesn't even matter if there is actually a problem or not, possibility of getting massive attention is too darn high.

Heavenly Sword was incredible. Such an engrossing and fun cinematic action game. PS3 exclusives felt so unique and were always pushing the medium in some way.

I liked the Demo. I liked the exploration and there's plenty of loot and looks like there's rewards for exploration. Looks like they'll be secret areas and things like that, so it's up my street. The combat is good and feels rewarding. Performance mode was absolutely the best way to play, as opposed to the other Balance and Resolution mode. I'll be picking it up, most likely day 1.
Since I have a VRR TV, Balanced mode felt pretty smooth. So, i will just go with that when I get the game. The only issue I had with the game was the sound mixing. Without headphone, the music is way too loud and I could not understand anything they said for that teaser trailer at the end of the demo.
It's best to just ignore people who are debating about the body of a video game character. The demo is good and that's all that matters.

An attractive character alone without a good game won’t sell what’s needed for an AAA game or game with this type of budget to be successful.

@@patrickpickett7040 Haven't played a big budget western game since 2019 - Days Gone. The slop is just too much and they're stripped of all their fun too. If I play western games now, it's either remasters/ports/remakes or a lesser known AA games.
We will see how long Japan and Asia is able to hold back ESG before the slop comes knocking.
Turned my nose up at this when it was initially revealed. Since then, it’s looked better every time they showed it. The demo was freakin awesome.

it's free publicity for the game. I doubt anyone will pass on a game cause game critics are saying the character is too good looking. Who wants to see the fable trailer protag in a body suit instead? That's gotta be a small demographic of gamers for sure.
I honestly think all the sexy women clash in a really inorganic way with the mood and Melodrama they are trying to sell through the narrative.

Cool to see a actual review of the demo without all the crazy stuff, it's a real example of a small thing being blown out of all proportions.
The game makes me think of Capcom's P.N.03 for GameCube, amazed no one has mentioned it.
That is a hidden relic of the fabled Capcom 5 for sure. Never played it, though.

The combat is so so good in this game that I spent hours in the practice mode inside the skill tree practicing my blocking and parrying! So freaking good I love it

I think i know what you mean by the PS2-PS3 era comment being a compliment. I started playing videogames 30 years ago, and for me personally the golden age of games were the old PS2 and PS3 years. Watching the trailers of the game, and playing the demo gave me a strange nostalgic feeling that i can't describe. It felt like those good old days, when games were just pure fun, and that is the best compliment i can give to a videogame. This may sound stupid, but this game could be the one that gives me back my love for videogames, that i lost a few years ago.
PS2/PS3/Xbox360/GameCube/NDS era was my favourite era. A ton of great games to enjoy. I still play my PS2 till this day.
Have had the deluxe edition preordered for the last month. Was always going to be a day one purchase for me.
The parry is so satifying to me. Makes me wanna play Sekiro all over again.
Enjoyed the demo. From the range of enemy’s, different attacks, skill tree. Surroundings and art style. From completing the demo what shows at the end looks great.

I really enjoyed the demo. The combat is really excellent. The parrying feels awesome. I’m replaying Sekiro right now so the parrying has been really fun to pull off. The story seems really interesting. Music is great. Definitely pre-ordering it.

Having an having a protagonist with exaggerated proportions isn’t anything new. We now live in a world where there are people who just complain about anything/everything. The art style looks like most of the battle anime out there.

i am a big fan of the souls, and bayonetta, devil may cry and nier games and this game always had my attention from day one just because i love action over the top games.

Stellar Blade is absolutely reminiscent of an early PS3 era game, like Heavenly Sword and Golden Axe, and that's a good thing. Simple good action games with no modern live service/mtx/cinematic bloat, just a straight up good demo/game!
I don't care if the character is Dante or Bayonetta, just give me a good game with sick gameplay.
Yeah, I definitely see the dev's inspiration from NieR (never played NieR but have watched some playthroughs). The background music alone makes me imagine 2B running around exploring.
I see a lot more than just NieR. DMC, Sekiro, NieR and even with being clunky, the climbing reminds me of Uncharted. I pre-ordered the game with GS store credit on a whim, but I'm glad I played the demo. The game feels great than what I initially expected.

Haven’t played the demo yet, but I like the gameplay of being able to parry or block at any time during your attacking. Kinda reminds me of Sekiro where you could parry pretty much at any time even during attacks.
After all this censorship, stellar blade is a breath of fresh air lol

I've been keeping a close eye on this game for 2 years now, ever since it was initially announced. So happy to see this game turn out so good. We really need developers like Shift Up to continue to keep our industry alive and thriving. Never, ever give in to those blue, purple collar soy baby tweakers!

As a Xenoblade fan the character model discussion is one I’ve seen so many times before and never want to see again.

Yes it is. It was always going to be good if you ask me. Preordered the first day it went up. Eve is awesome but truthfully if I were playing as a guy protagonist I would still be getting the game, it's a lot of fun. Just beat the final boss in the demo last night and it was satisfyingggg

i played the demo, is pretty good indeed
I really enjoyed the demo, only played 30 minutes so not fought the boss but I loved the colour palette they used for the different areas and destructible scenery set pieces, the creative enemy designs and cool UI elements.
I can see me getting really into stellar blade and mastering the combos, timings and enemies routines. I won't be picking it up at launch though cos I have a ton of other games to play first but will get it eventually when it comes down in price a little
That was a fair review. Some people have complained about the input lag which I'm not sure if it's intentional or they can fix later. In regards to Eve's design, I think it's perfectly fine. I don't know why people are getting mad about an attractive female in a video game.

If you haven't played it yet, the best way i can think to describe it is it has a Sekiro foundation with the attack system from DMC
It's plays absolutly nothing like DMC tho.....
There were something like 8-10 combos in the demo that are very much like a dmc or a bayonetta, the general movement has souls heft to it and the parry is a lot like Sekiro’s but the actual attacking is definitely riffing off of dmc

Fun fact: Women love playing as attractive women in video games. Much like us guys like playing as good lookin dudes.
(Although we do enjoy messing around looking the most ugliest mofo if the character creation tool allows us lol).
Playing the demo made me want to go back & play NieR Automata again and get the 21 endings with 3 playable characters with unique playstyles with Emi Evans in the background singing. Can't be duplicated❤
Personally I think I prefer the combat in stellar blade, the parry and dodge are really satisfying
@petebagwell6666 it's very cliche/nothing new. At least you get a variety and over all better characters, music & story. Plus 5 endings and 21 joke endings? Eve herself seems very boring character. But that's just my opinion

Yeah, Nier for all its flaws sure was a magic game. If SB can even approach the same level it will be great.
And while the game starts in a (very) Nier Automata like way, and obviously also have some other aspects being similar to say the least, I didn't get the sense the core of its nechanics is anything much similar. And since it doesn't even have NG+ apparently, (or yet anyway, which is a bit of an annoying trend..) I suppose they will not be trying to copy the N:A concept fully at least.

I was surprised when it even was dubbed in German, this gets the full triple A treatment from Sony. For example the nier or from soft games are usually only in English. This also means when Sony is doing the localization this game will never come to Xbox or switch 2

I never noticed the controller speaker producing any audio.
I saw it in the options and was listening for it. I had the controller speaker audio turned up all the way.
You have to hit circle AND UP to use your blink. Circle and BACK for the counter dodge when it blinks purple.

Yeah this game very very good very very very good in my opinion. The character model and the story and gameplay and the graphics are stellar (see what I did there ) I honestly believe this our GOTY. There's nothing wrong with the character model or the character,this game doesn't hurt anyone , it's just all a bunch of nonsense from ign etc etc You can't spell ignorance without ign. I wouldn't even say it's a button masher. This game takes careful timing and precision. It isn't Dynasty Warriors.

It's really stupid how people are complaining about the characters looks when they're scanned in from real actors. Some people really need to shut up about things they know nothing about.
I thinknits really funny that they scanned a real person then blew her ass up so big it doesn't match her body type, her hips are wider then her shoulders, it's bad anatomy, but everyone's fine with them changing the model that's a scan of a real person bexauee they exaggerated her sexual featurs while bitching and whining tjay Insomniac shouldn't hire models if they are going to change things.
The hypocrisy around this game is fucking fascinating from both sides of the argument, it's amazing how pathetically childish both have been lol.
At first I was put off at how slow the combat looked when I watched some gameplay but after watching a few other vids and playing the demo myself I can say that I’m excited for this game now and will be getting my hands on a physical release
Stellar Blade is day one for me definitely the beautiful protagonist and action adventure genre, played the demo on PS5 and love it. IGN France was wrong, they don't know what they were talking about also (good news) they have formally apologized to the Korean gaming developer. This game is going to be nominated nominee for GOTY 2024 at the game awards.

Based on what's is in the Demo I find the Bayonetta comparison slightly insulting as the only thing they have in common is skin tight outfits. Bayonettas personality goes right along with how she dresses while Eve comes off as not understanding her ass is tucked into a skin tight suit for the viewers to oogle at. Bayonetta entire design revolves around sexuality while Steller Blade is like here's a sexy MC because it sells. It's not integrated into the themes of the game at all in fact the sexy women clash weirdly with the Melodrama they are trying to sell me on with the story.

I really liked the demo. The platforming reminded me a lot of Darksiders, and i love those games, so it didn't bother me at all. The combat felt similar to Sekiro in that I'm interleaving attacks and parries and I really liked that. I didn't think I was going to like it much with everything I had seen, but the demo made it a day one pick up for me.

I never pre-order anymore but after playing this demo i did get it. Game looks solid and plays that way also. The BS is just coming from all the wokies who think they run gaming.
That vollyball game was literally the best vollyball game on the market.
What surprised me the most is that these are the Nikke guys, and they made a normal game... And it's good! That's kinda crazy! For the game itself, I'm really, really happy they put the "Challenge Boss" in there and that we got to play "the real game," because the start felt kind of slow. Once you have some stuff unlocked though, it felt amazing.
The blue hairds have really lost their minds over this video game. It wasn't like this in the 80s/90s/00s!

Did you play the Boss Challenge mode that is unlocked after you complete the demo? It definitely has many elements of a soulslike. I wouldn't say its NOT a soulslike. In my opinion it definitely is, at least partly. As others have pointed out its a mix of Sekiro + DMC. It definitely is a fresh experience and stands on its own merit though. Just my 2 cents.
I think Stellar Blade is doing the same thing as Helldivers 2 and Hogwarts Legacy, where the negative backlash is way better marketing than the traditional methods, i mean it worked for the Joker movie too lol

I really enjoyed the demo. I am not sure I will pick it up day one, but I will be buying it sometime in the near future for sure.
It's really fun and beautiful to look at. I will buy it, but not sure if first day. I have a backlog too big.
