- WOWIE. What. A. Game. Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is my second (technically third) strategy game I've ever played. Ya girl is trying out new things and this was v e r y eye opening to say the least! I played Valkyria Chronicles on the PS4, though it is on PC and Switch. The gameplay for Valkyria Chronicles Remastered was surprisingly fun, considering I'm not big into SRPGs. I highly recommend you give Valkyria Chronicles a try. I look forward to playing Valkyria Chronicles 4 which is also on PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. I've heard great things and that they've managed to improve the gameplay of Valkyria Chronicles.

I always liked the addition of the two main characters from Skies of Arcadia into your troops. This is one of my favorite turn-based strategy games where the turns keep you involved thanks to the real-time aspect.
The review came out good. VC1 is still a great game to this day.

This is an amazing game, I am glad you enjoyed yourself and got to love one of the better modern jrpg's and the original game was re released for all modern console's (we do ps4 ourselves) hopefully down the line you pick it up and continue to enjoy the Valkyria Chronicles series. Excellent work. Putting you in for a promotion to Field Sargent with accolades in attire. I celebrated so hard when VC got released many moons ago, but didnt ever get around to beating it . I played a lot more of the sequel on PSP and finally gave in and surrendered during a particularly taxing mission. I still love my time in the service, but too much latrine duty with my PSP left my ass flat.

I must check this game out on Switch as I first played VC 4 and absolutely loved it (Normal Difficulty) played virtually `100% even the DLC.
I never even realised this was a strategy game before. It reminds me of Fire Emblem in all the best ways, but also with tanks. It’ll be a long time before I get to it but I probably should get one of the ones of these on Switch, since they go on sale a lot IIRC.
Your channel is gonna grow its like seeing greatness before the whole world knows it and being able to say yeah I saw before the whole world did, your content has some much originality and the content is unlike any on the youtube keep up the great work!!!

Nice review! I loved this game, but yeah like you said, it definitely has it's issues. I felt myself growing to like certain npcs over time, even though they don't get a lot of focus. Like, picking units that like each other and having them go out and wreck shop as a pair was nice, and it lets you built your own head-canon for a lot of stuff going on too lol.
Great work on this vid! I tried this game when it first came out, but I remember a difficulty curve early made go AWOL on this game, but this has made me want to give it a second pass before I fully retreat. I think this also convinced me to add you to my patreon list.

I did play this game a little years ago, but I quit a little way into it. Definitely keen to pick it back up. If I remember correctly, some of the characters from Skies of Arcadia can also be used in battle too, which I thought was a neat cameo.

What a great video on such amazing game. I bought this back on ps3 when it first came out. You pretty much nailed all of the games pros and cons. The 4th game is good but I still think the 1st one is the best.

I liked this game, but having to do everything in record time killed a lot of the fun for me by the end. I wanted to take my time, use all my units and not flood in with scouts. Does anyone know if the newest game follows this format of best scores for the fastest victory?
I think it still works like that but classes are more balanced.
I have no idea why after three prior games they had not fixed the problem of fastest = highest score.

I keep coming back for the loading save files joke. It was funny before playing the game and it's even funnier that I'm playing through the game and seeing how painfully unforgiving with your time this game is

I played VK for the Switch. I had fun with it. But I don’t really get combing wars and battles with beauty queens in dresses and high school like drama.

For what it worth its short! About 20 ish hours. But the levels can be very intense and require careful thought
I'm actually quite familiar with this game because it was the first game I ever bought for the ps3 even before I even owned a ps3. It was literally a game that persuaded me to buy a ps3 for the first time. It's still my favourite game of all time for the ps3 because I did have a lot of fun with this title and it was a great game to complete to 100%. I'm glad you did get your enjoyment out of this title but I highly doubt that I'll be playing this title for the ps4 anytime soon

The remaster for PS4 was actually released in 2016, the year mentioned in your intro is for the Switch version (which dropped "Remastered" from its title, despite being the version used for the port), though that was in October for NA & Europe.
Glad with any love and attention this game will get. I disagree on the criticism on the music, I think VC has some very memorable tunes that I can't get out of my head. Also I don't understand how anyone can see this gorgeous game as not graphically outstanding. They utilized a special CANVAS style resembling cellshaded but not used anywhere else and I found it glorious.
And I loved the troopers. They're defensively a great force. Scouts don't shoot much at trespassers but troopers will devastate them. There are levels in cities where the enemy will try to sneak towards your base and you can ambush them brilliantly with a well placed trooper behind a corner. One trooper will easily take out 3 or 4 attackers if they keep coming one by one. And the troopers become quite an offensive force too once they get good flamethrowers. Sometimes you can take out 3 enemies behind a sandbag in one attack. No scout can do that.
Scout rushes are only interesting for those looking to maximize score. If you keep your level-ups balanced between the classes you will learn to appreciate all of the classes.
Squad 7...move out!
This is one of those games I was curious about just because of the parallels you can draw with Fire Emblem.
After this, yeah this is going on my wishlist.
Do it. I would recommend valkyria chonicles 4. The balance between unit types is so much better.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 was my first venture into the series, and it's a side-story to 1 featuring a throwaway suicide squad. Possibly even more dark but just as good.
Can't wait for you to get to that fire emblem greatness. Please don't start with awakening lol

i've gotton 100% completion on this game, was alotta fun, but after you beat the story the first time, you can play extras from the main menu, and they are hard, but you can get an OP gun, that is given to Rosie, makes her in my opinion, better that ANY scout. you can also get some powerful weapons by killing ace units in the skirmish EXPERT mode, (only doable after main story), but that is also hard, so good luck to you on that

I've only played VC2 on the PSP and always wondered how it stacks compared to the original..?
It's widely considered the worst game of the mainline series. Least impactful plot, pared down game-play and tiny maps compared to 1 and 4 (and that smaller scale was refined for 3). 2 and 3 let you have APCs, but in 4 you actually have full battlefields to use them in (and the ability to drag 2 soldiers along with one of your units too!).

I really hope the in-mission-save function was added for the PS4 version... If I failed to notice something that would have saved me from many hours of frustrated replaying, I'll never forgive myself...

I originally was gonna the sequel, but I didn’t know how to properly get a PlayStation account at the time. I have a PlayStation vita that can play psp games off the ps store. So I played it on steam instead.
Now that you've tried your hand at the tactical genre I'd love it if you gave the Fire Emblem series a try the next time. VC reminded me a lot of Fire Emblem, only FE takes place in a more medieval/fantasy setting and has better character development if that's your thing. There's a great FE game out for the Switch (Three Houses), and there's also Awakening for the 3DS which is a great starting point as well.
I've been looking at this game for a while, but now that a) Lady's recommending it; and b) RAGDOLL PHYSICS

No, it was released on Switch too. Although they dropped the "Remastered" from the title, it's the version they used (according to Wikipedia).

Valkyria Chronicles 3 has the best story in the series, it's a shame they never remade that game instead of make VC4 when it was more of the same. Now it's too late because it seems (going by insider on Resetera) MediaVision is resurrecting Wild Arms and is busy with a new Digimon Story game.
This looks pretty cool. Kinda like advance wars or fire emblem but with guns.
I just finished this game on PC. There was a missed opportunity with character development. The game looks beautiful at 144fps, even for such a old game.

they never recaptured the magic of the original (tho VC4 got close). For my playthrough, snipers were the real MVPs.
