- Willie, Sarah and their dog, Jack Spaniels, continue their biggest adventure yet - leaving their suburban life and moving over the sea to a remote cottage on the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.
In this episode, the 'Skye-Lifers' are back on the island and heading out towards Portree for a hike - on one of Scotland's best hill walks.
As if the weather and the stunning views of Skye and neighbouring island Raasay weren't enough, we have the most incredible wildlife encounters while we are there.
Plus - Willie and Richard get to work on our new Landrover Defender and Jack faces the biggest decision of his life!

Eagle and Raven are considered love birds here in Alaska... the native art is Eagle and Ravens together... that was truly an amazing sight
Cake, scenery, a raptor, art, Jack Spaniels and a guest appearance from Richard. It’s another classic Skye Life video.
You go for a “walk” and you see a gallery, a cake stall, an eagle and the most beautiful, amazing, stunning scenery ever!!!! Thank you both for sharing and of course Jack Spaniel is the star over everything 😂❤
Skye is a picture postcard from every angle. Fabulous. The videography and editing is superlative. Super professional. I’ve made home movies, properly edited, music, transitions, burned onto DVD, (long time ago) so I know how difficult it is. And yours are 10x better than mine ever were so I really appreciate how well you produce them, every week as well. I hope casual viewers realise the many hours that go into a 30 minute CZcams video. Thank you
Thanks so much!! We put a lot of effort into our videos, so it’s lovely to have that appreciated 😊
My frailty and ill health prevents me from hiking like you two spry young people. So having us along on this hill climb was amazing! I am afraid of heights but love the vistas on Skye! You are so fortunate to live there. Thank you for taking me along on your hike.
There is a new school teacher who has moved to Skye, I commented on her post about Sarah's art work, see said that she has seen it, she is going to message you so she can meet up with you both
Willie and Sarah, you make Sunday evening's very special with your adventures, thank you.
Monday morning for me in New Zealand 🇳🇿
A walk in a beautiful place… unbelievable views….a bird of prey….. cake and coffee….. an artist’s gallery…. What a day!!
You’re going to laugh at this. When I first glanced at Willie’s backpack at the start of the walk, I thought the walking poles were a set of bagpipes! I know…..they don’t really look like bagpipes but I really thought “OMG, Willie has learned the bagpipes and he’s going to play at the top of the mountain.” Anyway, thanks for the wonderful vid. 😊❤️🇨🇦
A cupboard full of cake on a hiking path?! Skye truly is magical 😍
Speaking of spray-painting your car, I have been thinking that your Dirty Secrets of Scotland logo would look AMAZING on the side of the Defender (and then for symmetry's sake Sarah's channel's logo should be on the other side).
The view from that hill was absolutely stunning and really makes me miss Scotland. The eagle (whichever kind it was) was amazing - what a majestic sight!
I now wonder if you should set up a whole bracket-style tournament to figure out Jack's most preferred treats. After all, there is also steak...^^
It was wonderful to see your eagle. We see bald eagles frequently in Minnesota. It is so amazing to see them where ever they are. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!
I was thinking the same thing. I'm fortunate enough to live in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle, where there are hikes abound, but I've never seen a cake cupboard!
It's a juvenile White Tailed Sea Eagle and he was probably checking out Jack Spaniel. They are known to take foxes. We live south of you in Ardnamurchan and had a similar encounter some years ago. It was an adult and checked out our old Labrador Mister Sanchez but decided he was a bit too weighty.
This is what I was thinking as I watched...Eagle checking out if he could pick off Jack.
Its always a good Sunday evening when you three are on. What amazing views you had and I hope you did'nt ache too much the next day. Cake looked great. Jack Spaniels certainly likes his sausages best. Lovely long Bloopers too. Landy looks much better with a clean bum. Stay safe and love to all,
‘ clean bum ‘ you are funny 😂❤from Canada
Hi guys, love your channel. That’s a WTSE, I’ve been a falconer for nearly 30 years and been lucky enough to have trained and flown eagles. Atb Tom.
What is a WTSE ?
@@SilkytoasterWhite tailed sea eagle.
That would be very special to do.
@@nicolad8822certainly was, there’s images in Pete Cairns book Tooth and claw
Awwww how lovely that clime was from someone who struggles on even surface of a Super market that was grand to share and the sight of the eagle was magnificent thanks for having us along luv to all three well done on the paint job the oldies 🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍
Thank you so much for keeping my love for Skye alive with your good honest videos. No pretending or the likes. Im having a year long fight with my health but thanks to our amazing NHS my dear wife and i hope to be back on Skye next year enjoying all it has to offer including some of the cracking wee music sessions in the Portree bars. Love from Dumfries and thanks again. ❤️
Love watching birds on the thermals. Peaceful.
Hi from New Scotland (Nova Scotia) Canada. Another great video. Our 16 year old Shih Tzus Mini would agree with Jack. Sausages are best! She just loves them!
Hi Willie, sarah & our lovely friend jack 🐶
It’s nice seeing Richard your lucky to have a wonderful handyman & love his wee 🤘🤟😊.
We been away for 10 days for my 60th birthday to Kent, west London and Lake District great part of England is the lakes wee jack would love the water bless his wee wagging teil 🐕🦺 love to you all see you guys on living the sky life ❤
*Wow whoever puts out cakes for the walker/hikers is a great person indeed. The cake would be helping one get their energy levels back up too. Great scenery to see as you did your walking... 🙂.*
Willie, Sarah and Jack you're the bright spot of my Sunday evenings. Of course Richard included.
Love it, how wonderful to live in a place where an honestly box is in place. It says a lot.❤
I´m swedish, I LOVE your personalities and videos. Thank you for them
😂 Willie, THAT jumper is so colourful, reminded me of Mick from Time Team 😂. I really enjoyed that walk and glad there was just enough cake left for you both 😊
What an honour. Loved Mick from Time Team. Such an interesting and intelligent man. 🙂
As Aussies the cake cupboard is just amazing - the weather and ants etc. would never let it work. I so wish I could come across cake on a bushwalk! I’ll just have to come to Skye one day to experience the magic I guess.
On a different note my husband has very limited mobility and so for him getting to “join” you on that walk was just extra special. Thanks for all the ways you share the lovely place where you live. We watch your videos every Monday evening without fail.
I watch them on Monday too. New Zealand 🇳🇿
Aww thanks so much for the lovely comment - we are so happy that we can bring you with us to the places that we love exploring 😊
Scenery is absolute magic, thank you
Hi all. It’s a White-tailed Sea Eagle being mobbed by a Raven. Shape of the tail gives it away. And a juvenile as Willie thought. Another brilliant video btw. It’s been too long since we’ve been to Skye. I wish our boy was as well behaved as Jack 👍
A new video at last! Waiting a week is tough! I knew Jack Spaniels would pick sausages over the chicken 😋😛😜 Scotland has the most beautiful scenery in the world. Thanks for sharing it!
A CAKE BOX on your walk?? Outstanding! I love Skye so much!
The cake box made the walk 😂
A beautiful hike with stunning views, an eagle fly-over and cake!
A CAKE CABINET IN THE WILD! You're not in Scotland, you're in HEAVEN!
This comment made me chuckle. Willie 🙂
Another wonderful video filling my heart with joy to see my homeland scenery
Would it be 'Living the Skye life' if Richard wasn't involved helping Willie with a project?! 😅❤
Cracking hill walk - but what a risk not picking up a cake on the way up! Brilliant to see the eagle.
Willie was very lucky there were two bits of cake left!! 😂
I knew Jack would like the sausages ...........loved the walk , reminds me of when i used to do them.
Jack really did make a choice. It is so beautiful there.
A perfect way to end the weekend! Loved the scenery and the random cake cupboard!
My back is aching after watching you climb the mountain. Your close encounter with the eagle and the views made it all amazing, topped off with a rainbow 🌈as well.
In Mongolia they use golden eagles to hunt wolves.
They are incredibly strong.
The one and only one I’ve seen (up close) had a black beak and was almost as tall as me.
When it decided I wasn’t food it took off, spiraling up and out of sight.
When you go back again look for feathers. I have one my grandparents found at a place called Mr. Tom in Nova Scotia.
Richard’s seal of approval on your automotive repair is all you need, so, relax as winter approaches.
I love your channel and Jack Spaniels 🙏❤️🙏🏴🦴🏴
Yeah, its Sunday, we're information another exciting episode. Thank you Willie, Sarah and Jack Spaniels.
I'm totally with you about the clouds making the view moody and magnificent. We are so lucky in the UK that we have skies that make our scenery so expressive.
The rain and the rainbow- my Cornish grandma always said rain is liquid sunshine 😊
She also said that if you could see enough blue sky to make a pair of sailor's trousers it would be good weather 😄
Sarah’s gran used to say that too!
Beautiful calendar thank you Sarah. I am so glad I ordered when I did as they sold out pretty fast x
Great to see Willie recovered from Covid. Loved this video. Our Westie gave Jack his usual welcome.
Life is often too hard but your videos are a great antidote!! So glad to have found your channel!!
What lovely place to live, and moody skies. Thanks for sharing!❤️
That looked a gorgeous walk! 100% a Juv. White Tailed Eagle. Very rectangle shaped wings and a wedge shaped tail! Golden Eagles has longer slender tails. Hope that helps ❤❤
Thanks for being our tour guides to your beautiful countryside the filming was spot on as usual. What more could you ask for than eagles cake a rainbow and the answer to that burning question "chicken or sausage"....looking forward to next week Karl from eastern Canada P.S. I'm still a Jack-aholic and I don't want to be cured LOL
Always love seeing the eagles when out and about in our countryside 🏴❤️
That was lovely! The Eagle was stunning! Thanks for these wonderful videos 😀💖x
Going by the white armpits of the raptor you filmed, I'd say you'd be looking at a juvenile white tailed sea eagle as opposed to a golden eagle.
Great videos, always makes for a relaxing Sunday evening.
Great video and wow how fantastic to see that eagle. Ad that's great that there is a cake box on a hill walk❤
Absolutely beautiful scenery Skye is beautiful x❤❤🐶
Hello from PEI Canada. Love Jack. After the cake, I'm glad that you found coffee
What a glorious hike! Thanks for sharing😘
My university mascot is a golden eagle and that was definitely a golden you saw. We have a Golden as a school mascot, her name is War Eagle 5. Our vet school has a raptor center and rehabilitates all kinds of raptors. We also have a Bald Eagle named Spirit. They take turns flying at the football (American football) games. Goldens are majestic birds.
Ha I know just where you went. I always appreciate your mascot.
Absolutely beautiful. So love Scotland . And great episode. Lucky you guys! Thanks
We believe it is a sea eagle. Possibly the same one that we saw from our holiday cottage not far from your walk overlooking Loch Raasay in September 💕 simply stunning 🦅
Amazing adventure with panoramic views!
Just think those worn down trails are thousands of years old. 🌺
Well that was a busy week! Landy is looking fab ya big dafty 😂 seriously but did u ever think you’d one day be taking an angle grinder to the arse of a Landy 😂😂 applaud you guys embracing life! & Sarah finding art & CAKE! 🧁 up a hill of all places! 😂 wee jack ❤️ his expressions are hilarious & utterly endearing 🤗😘have a great week folks! X
The drone footage is out of this world. Love it ❤
I don't comment too often as I'm sure you''re swamped with lovely messages, but had to comment about the glorious views, the light, the golden or WT Sea eagle... just heavenly, and I re-watched and paused the landscapes quite a few times last night. The cake, and postcard honesty boxes are so sweet!
Aww thanks so much!!
Great job on the Landy, once cleaned back it really didn’t look too bad at all. Whilst wheel was off you could have done the wheel carrier bracket. 😊 You could change the rusty allen head bolts with stainless, along with many of the other bolts on hinges etc. All little touches. Amazing walk and what a majestic eagle….. I wanted to hear John Denver singing the Eagle and the Hawk. Andy UK
Thank you for taking us along. Beautiful 😍
Wow you certainly had a treat for us in this video...from the great shots of the eagle to the views from the hill, wow....an appearance by Richard and Jack Spaniels selecting sausages...perfect..many thanks and best wishes.
Love you guys always look forward to hear and see all your adventures hard work and fun thank you for letting be a part of journey 😀xx
Love the concept of honesty box. I live vicariously through your channel. Love Scotland. Love Jack.
Hi Sarah and Willie. Thanks for sharing that spectacular view. Amazing to see the eagle. A cake cupboard, what a great idea 🍰😋Take care. Nick
Thanks for another lovely video; the clips of the Golden Eagle (?) are great, the scenery is majestic and the myriad colours of the water, the hills and the skies are beautiful - it's a really inspiring place for an artist! I like the honesty boxes, too, and the Almond and Apple cake was a welcome treat after the climb.
A beautiful area to go hiking in. So neat seeing that eagle. I think that was really great to have a "cake" box on trail to buy some cake and to leave money in honesty box. Even with the artists artwork cards. Great video guys.
Wow!!! Wow...just...Wow!!! Amazing vistas and eagles to boot. Thanks for sharing.
Wow - good job on the rust job. It looks great! And thanks to Richard as well - what a great friend! What a beautiful hike. Thanks for sharing it with us.
It is good to know that you have the same little trials with Jack as we have with our Sprocker 🐾. Coming in from a very wet outdoors and plastering wet footprints everywhere! 🤦♀️
Fantastic walk, eagle, raven and breathtaking views. Good job willie on the rust removal. 😊
I watched all your videos & I love everyone of them. The scenery on Skye is stunning, I look forward to the next one. Have a good week guys.
Hi guys. Loved the views. I guess you have to pinch yourselves sometimes to believe this is your home. Beautiful. Stay safe
What a glorious walk! Thanks for taking us with you. Loved the eagle too. We have red kites in our village and that moment when they look down at you and there’s a connection is truly wonderful.
Them views from the hill!!!! You've just made me want to come back even more...!! 😍
Wow! I'm loving the culture of Skye even more due to the honesty box cake and art! The views from the hike were incredible! I also enjoyed the car fix, and of course, Jack. I really wonder what he thinks sometimes. He's definitely a star!
Love you guys, thank you, all 3 of you for a superb video and that cameo from Richard 😀❤❤❤💞 Willie you have on a very festive jumper🎉🎊 and Sarah I love your hair👌🏼
Thanks so much!!
Scotland is truly beautiful, there’s nothing quite like the crisp fresh air, of course the friendly people. Can’t wait to visit again. All the best from Destin Fl. 🏴🇺🇸
If I knew there was cake up mountains ??? I absolutely would climb them haaaa stunning video and the views were just out of this world ! I adore Jack so much - I also chose Sausages because that would be George's choice too haaaa
Ahaha yes it makes the hike a bit easier to know there’s (hopefully) cake at the end! Although, technically you could just walk to the box and back 😜
@@livingtheskyelife haaaa that sounds right up my street haaaa
Cool video. Love all your hikes! Jack is just too sweet!
that was stunning! What a view from the top of the hill!! Can't get over the cake box. incredible. Talk about honesty!!
Beautiful video with amazing scenery, wildlife and of course the adorable Jack Spaniels. I really look forward to Sunday evenings watching your vlogs is my Sunday highlight.
What an amazing hike. Pure peace
I really look forward to you films such wonderful wildlife and stunning scenery.
Jack is adorable.
Fantastic views. Thanks so much for sharing your walk with us. 😎
Your hat is called a toque where I live in Canada. And no doubt about the choice of meats. 🥰
Great job Willie with the help of the Richard that everyone needs!!😀, and so glad Sarah will be able to get in and out now! 😂
And how fabulous to be able to see ANY eagle from near your home!!! 👌💜
Great drone footage from the top of that hill, this song comes to mind "i can see for miles and miles" 👌💜
Stunning stunning stunning place!! And brilliant video as ever!!! Look forward to them every week 🏴
So pleased to see Willie has gotten over his Covid fatigue! Thanks to you both for taking me along on your "walk" (more of a hike for me).😊
Hi Willie and Sarah
I so enjoy every Sunday watching your weekly adventures. This one was one of my favorites by far. I’m not sure I will ever make it to Scotland (It is the only place left on my bucket list) but seeing it through your eyes is pretty close to being there. ‘ A big ( woof woof) to Jack. You three belong to each other ❤
All I can say of your view, is WOW! Beautiful nature.
A grand walk indeed and another sublime slice of Skye Life for your viewers. Glad you got step on Landy fixed and paint job looks a good un 👍 🤟🤟
From the look of the tail, it looked like a sea eagle. Appreciate your videos. Makes me want to come visit Scotland!
Such a delightful view.
Thanks for taking us along.
Because you do this I get to see the land of my forbears from way down here in Australia.
Great to see Richard, dear man that he is and obviously a grand neighbour. Bless him.
And dear Jack is a sweet boy full of exuberance and love 😂.
Look forward to next week.❤
Absolutely beautiful climb. Super video. What a lovely place you live.
Love your videos, they are all so beautiful and interesting, even the rust removal. Wow! that made such a difference. Well done. You lead such interesting lives. Cheers from Australia
Really want to go back to Skye we stayed at the staffin caravan park was awesome 2years ago
Guys I think this is my most favourite video! Beautifully done! Scenery spectacular.
Sea Eagle, just down from your walk is the nesting place on the cliff . We got lucky last time there and got to see both adults off Skye and the juvenile. Across the water is another pair also that we got to see on the same day. Absolutely fantastic
