  • ESPN FC's Stewart Robson and Gab Marcotti are at odds over whether or not Antonio Conte should join Inter Milan next season after reports heat up about a return to Serie A. Gab doesn't feel it's a good move for Inter, but Stewart considers his success at Juventus, the 2016 European Championships with Italy and his title winning season with Chelsea as proof otherwise.

Gianni Ariemma Mourinho and Conte have both been successful in Serie A, though. Sarri’s good at getting clubs in the Champions League, but not winning trophies. Also, Inter don’t have limited resources. They’ve went on spending sprees in two of the last three summer transfer window. Look at what Conte did with Juve. They didn’t win the scudetto in a while before Conte came to the club.

Firstly, I am not advocating for Spalletti to get sacked. He is a good manager. However, Conte’s system, 3-4-3 or 3-5-2, seems best suited to the players Inter have. With Godin, Skriniar, De Vrij and Miranda, they can have the BEST defense in EUROPE! Asamoah, D’ambrosio, Soares and Candreva will make solid wing backs. The team already has a tremendous midfield depth. I’ll pray for teams who will have to face Icardi & Martinez or Lukaku (if conte gets him) & Martinez with Perisic and Politano assisting. Lastly, Forza Inter! #ESPNFC

Gab's dislike for Conte is unreal here. Seriously last week both him and this chick (forget her name) were sitting on sofa's going out of their way to completely discredit his great work at Juventus. Clearly he forgot how mediocre they were before he took over. For fucks sake they getting embarrassed by a Roy Hodgson Fulham team in the Europa League two years before But also how damaged that club and its reputation had been after bringing Italian football to disrepute twice in 2 decades. The first been Totonero in 1980 and 26 years later Calicopolli back in 2006. The same chick whose name escapes me then decides call Conte out for his remarks about the Juventus squad just before Allegri took over. Here is the thing, while Allegri did reach the Champions League Final that season. He did so with the backing of the Board. Something Conte never received (hence why he walked out to begin with) and most important of all a drastic change of formation and tactics. Last time I checked Allegri did not carry on with the 3-5-2 formation. So Conte was never wrong especially when you consider what happened the previous season when they couldn't even get out the Champions League group stage and couldn't beat Benfica over two legs of the Europa League Semi-Finals. He needed specific players that he asked for to keep going with that formation. Board said no and so he walked off. I'm glad Stewart Robson called Gab out and starting talking sense.

Gab's got a point, it really is a gamble by inter and not a good one tbh, antonio conte is not someone who takes an average squad and wins a title with them and i don't get why people keep saying he did a great job with average players at euro 16, coz most of them were only under-performing by their standards and he could've chosen a much better squad but he didn't and inter really aren't in aposition to go make big money signings here and there, i get that they are looking for a solid manager, but i think they're getting it wrong a better and potentially jackpot gamble for me would be roberto de zerbi, yes he isn't as experienced but his team sassuolo plays some brilliant football and score many goals and if he had a better defense like idk inter's he could be very successful.BUT THAT'S JUST MY OPINION.

@@taliamason7986 oh my bad completely forgot about that, but still though i would not go for him if i was the inter boss coz football is not a game of one season and inter are definately not got going to overthrow juve in one season, what they need to do is find a style that is not just suitable to what they've got but also one that can attract good young footballers, they already have a good foundation to build on and i think for that, i don't see Conte fitting but if they wanna risk it who am i to say otherwise, i just wanna see the Serie A being as competitive as the prem coz it really is an entertaining league to watch.
