Hello Douttawv. This is a low power (5 watt QRP) software defined radio (SDR) transceiver. And no worries about not remembering stuff. I can't either lol!
Does anyone happen to know the name of the font of the labels on the faceplate?
Looks like, the old CAD style font used in aviation instruments and 70s industrial electronics
Does kit supply the 10k surface mount resistor? And if not doing this kit install, how does audio in/out work? Does it use PC audio I.E. Gaming headset with mic. I am new to this and just purchased a Hermes, awaiting delivery.
The kit does not include the 10k resistor. The 10k resistor is only needed if using the power switch option as I did and it is described on the Hermes Lite 2 plus web page. The companion board provides a mic input jack and Thetis has some decent audio processing tools. I recommend spending some time on the Hermes Lite 2 plus site and take in as much as you can.

Is this 11m capable or is that what the mods are for? It allows AM operation correct?Can you get this pre assembled? Lots of people whom are disabled, or just simply lack the ability to solder smt. Any help?
Hello. It is 11 meter capable with no physical modifications and this is selected in the software settings. Yes, it allows AM operation along with many other modes and this is selected on the main Thetis screen. As far as I know, this only comes a kit that you have to put together yourself. As far as the SMT soldering is concerned, you don't have to go that route for the power switch. That was merely what I decided to do. I know a few people who did not install a power switch and they simply turn ON or OFF the power supply that the unit is connected to.
@KP68videogates oh ok. I thought you had to buy the companion board to TX. And I thought soldering was required. I was unaware that it isn't. OK wonderful. So the hermes board, the filter board click together basically and then the companion board does as well? Kinda like Lego blocks? Haha I can deal with that. I've heard the pure signal and it seems to sound better. I'm just scared to try to solder as I'll mess it up.
I tell ya I'm done with cb stuff. Everything is snake oil and robbery.
I believe I will buy this in near future. Then the collosal 10k antenna and eventually a good 500+ watt amp. That should be all I ever need. I thank you for your time! Any advice insight or suggestions is welcomed!
@@baylenthedogg3242 Correct, you do not need the companion board to TX. However, if you want to run external audio processing like I do, you will need the companion board and that entails removing the ferrite bead 28 on the main board. Take your time and check out as much as you can on the Hermes. There's a lot of good information on CZcams and the web. Although I am by far not an expert on the Hermes, feel free to ask.
@KP68videogates I appreciate it sir. I believe this is the way to go. Cheaper then some cb radios and it allows me to use my rack gear to its full potential, and it allows me to use the ham bands when I get my license. It seems to be a amazing piece of gear. Basically a anan 100b from what I've seen. For tbe price it's a no brainer. Thanks again, I'm excited! Just not sure what amp to use. I have a 4 pill carl built that donkey stomper just repaired, it's worse lol.. sending it to carl today. Then I got a maverick 250 8 tube amp. Idk if thr 5w hermes will drive them, but guess I can buy another amp in the future if needed.
@KP68videogates BTW I have a horrible hum now. Assuming
A ground loop. It's louder then my audio! Never had it before. I run audio technica atr30 mic into ART studio V3 pre amp.. into behinger composer pro xl comp limiter. Then into behringer ultrafex pro bass processor, then into behringer feedback destroyer pro parametric eq.. all balanced xlr nice cables. Never used a isolation transformer or a DI box.. I just ran audio like I said in that order.. and from the feedback destroyer pro straight into the anytone 5555n2 mic input. Idk what I need to do. This hum is horrible.
