  • A little comparison of the features in these SDR Software applications.
What I find to be some of the bigger differences and bonus features of Thetis versus that of EESDR V3.
Both versions of Software in this video are Beta versions, Thetis is the build for the HL2 Beta 5 and Expert Electronics EESDR V3 Beta 1.0.4
Rember Software is a Big Part of your Software Defined Radio, so choose wisely, do a lot of research. Look not only at the Hardware, but at the Software. Join user groups or forums ask questions. Ask to see demos or comparisons. Educate yourself so you can make the best decision for your use and price range.
Does it have good support, quick fixes, a user community that the developer(s) / Programmers are part of and contribute to in both new ideas, and support?
This link provides some info and details on the NEW WAN remote option- groups.google....
A little on the CFC (Continuous Frequency Compression) that Thetis offers. Since I used rack audio, I do not use that feature- but here is a great source for more info on it. www.w1aex.com/a...
Thetis- Voice Squelch • Voice Squelch VSQL ...
Thetis Meters • Thetis 2.9.0.8 pre-rel... a bit older but useful descriptions.
Between the Software and Performance of the Hermes Lite 2, I will be selling the Expert Electronics Sun SDR2DX, so this will likely be the last video in which I can factually compare the two radios side by side.
    Have a Great Day.

NOTE: the version of Thetis I am using which has the option for Remote use is a modified version for the Hermes Lite 2 rigs, Unless Ritchie or someone updating the standard version (aka Ritchie's versions) adds this option, it is currently only available in Reid's MI0BOT HL2 Beta 5 Thetis version-
Connecting Thetis HL2 Beta 5 remotely
Connect your HL2 or HL2+ to your router (HL2 or HL2+ needs to be seen by your router)
On your Router you will need to open the correct port- this port also needs to be pointed to the IP address of your HL2 or HL2+ (the default is 1024 however you can specify another and I would suggest you do)
Using Thetis on the side you are remoting from aka: Client side- you want the Public WAN IP address and Port number (port number used in the above step)
Use the STATIC IP option BOX for the above settings check the BOX to USE STATIC IP address, UNCHECK the LIMIT SUBNET BOX
Reid does suggest the following as well on the CLIENT-SIDE setting within Thetis:
Sample Rate set to 4800 and set the TX Latency to 70ms and the PTT delay to 30ms.
Rember this is still in testing and things may change, also remember your Internet at both locations will play a role in success as well.

You have a bent against the eesdr, and yes your issues are justified, what happened? I use expert elactrons and very much appreciate all the work you did with your videos.

Darren that spike as you call it doesn't go out over air.and it's a timing or was a timing between TX to RX switching. If you increase the switching delay few ms it doesn't occur which is now how I have it set.

I've been trying to make it work with my HL2. It works fine with Powersdr mrx but not with Thetis, choppy audio no matter what I do. The version I have here there is no Hermes Lite option, only Hermes. Could you please provide the link for this version? It seems the file does not exist at all, 73

I would suggest you read the Hermes Lite and 3rd party apps- as it explains how to correctly install Thetis for a Hermes Lite 2 and configure Plus it has the links to the correct software- github.com/softerhardware/Hermes-Lite2/wiki/Documents

Agree about EESDR. They just aren't updating the software. The only thing I do like about EESDR is the encoder so I can "spin the big dial". Any option for that in Thetis?

    • @n8sdr473
      @n8sdr473  Před rokem +2

Hello sir, yes there are a few options, personally I have never used one, I would ask on the Hermes Lite Google group- groups.google.com/g/hermes-lite to see what users there prefer- but unlike EESDR Ecoders I think there are many more options and at less cost for Thetis and a HL2 - one such mentioned in this video. czcams.com/video/LTm6evv3swk/video.html . I would think any Ecoder that works with PowerSDR would function in Thetis as well. Wish I could be of more help to you.
