    Your are brilliant. Just had to do my door. Followed you step by step and was impressed as it worked. Fortunately it was only a loose cable to the door handle. But hd to remove everything to get to it. THANK YOU.

    Thanks so much for this completely accurate, step by step video. I was quoted £500 by an auto electrician so I got an actuator from amazon for £40. The job took me 3 1/2 hours.
    If you like making kits, this repair is very easy.

      My drivers door has also just failed 2012 xf. It won’t lock, all other doors will lock apart from drivers side. And alarm sets off if I try open that door. Do you think it’s the actuator?. Drivers side won’t lock from inside either.. all other doors will lock inside

    Thank you for this video, very useful to know where all the fixings were. I've just done my door lock, it was starting to do random lockings and unlockings responding to the remote when it felt like it. A worthy mention is to remove all the soggy sponge that has rotted off the window regulator cables and dropped to the bottom of the door. It festers there creating an ideal environment for rust!

    • @crystalclearmechanics

      Hi George, thank you for watching and for your feedback. I have not come across the soggy sponge yet but I will keep it in mind as it's good advise.

      Hi Adam, thank you for watching and for your feedback. I will do a quick video on the actuator soon. If the door only opens or locks then 1 of the small electric motors in the actuator has stopped working and needs replacing, as far as i know aftermarket motors are available and are easy to fit if someone wants to do it that way.

    To save taking the glass out you can tape it up or use some suckers which I have. There is a special tool to release the glass, but fingers work as well. There's a little bit more to the job with keyless entry vehicles and make sure you have the correct lock. I've done it on a Jag and it is similar on Land Rovers...not a job I look forward to.

    One problem I’ve got!! Seems someone has done this job before on my car and they’ve rounded off the head on the Torx which holds on the small bit on the cover you need to loosen to release the handle😭😭 can’t get to it at all to get it out.

      Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback. I have not had to deal with that issue so have not tried an alternative way to remove it. I will check next time I have to remove one. Without having it in front of me my advise would be to buy a bolt extractor tool / set ( Screwfix sell them for about £5 ) carefully with as much light as possible drill a hole into the top of the torx bolt, insert the extractor tool and remove the bolt, replacing the bolt afterwards.

    Top video, save a lot of money for many Jaguar owners, my question. my left front keyless door can be locked with the remote key but not unlocked with the remote key, so I have to open it from the inside. If I come within two meters from the outside, the door opens with the remote key; the same happens if I hold the key close to the door. The keyless button is not damaged; when I press it, there is no pipping, which happens with all other doors. Keyless door handle defective?

    If you have the opportunity, would you be able to show how to clean the collectors or how to dismantle the dpf filter and catalyst to wash them with a chemical agent to clean the carbon. I want to do this on my jaguar 2.2 because I doubt that is where the reason for the high fuel consumption lies. Also, if you have the possibility to replace the engine mounts or the gearbox, that would be very useful to me. Thank you for the great videos so far :)

    • @crystalclearmechanics
      @crystalclearmechanics  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback. If you replace the actuator because it has stopped working then you do not need to program the remote. If your door lock does not unlock and lock when you use the interior lock / unlock button inside the car then your actuator needs replacing.

      Fob locks everything else but the driver door, the lock/ unlock buttons on dash lock unlock correctly, if u sit in the car and lock it u cannot open door, but someone outside pulls handle then it opens !!
