Jonathan, I always love your vehicles, but the interior on this car is above and beyond anything you have done before! Beautiful does not even begin to describe it!
One of my favorite builds! I think the Derelicts are such an awesome idea; beautiful vintage and modern tech merging together to make an amazing piece of functional art.
My uncle had a 2 door hard top one of these. It was faded perfect black. Had the antenna in the center of the roof. That car was so old school gangster looking.
I love everything you do at Icon but my personal favorites are the Derelicts. I think that they are a step above everything else from a creativity standpoint.
I was never able to figure out what this guy meant by end dices when he was talking about the gauges in his various videos. It finally dawned on me that he was just mispronouncing indices (in-duh-seez). Now it makes sense. Absolutely love what Icon is doing with the vehicles, though and would love to own one of these gems some day.
I had a ‘54 Buick 2-door given me in 1967 by a friend of my Dad. Outstanding road car. Bi put in a ne W/S, exhaust and some seat covers before I went into the Marines in ‘68. My family was living in Bangor and my Dad and I were living in Chicopee, MA. Great road car; enormous in-line six. Very smooth and gas was around 24 cents a gallon. Loved it
Thank you for contributing what you have to the custom auto industry. You and your team are just fantastic, I really enjoy these videos keep them comming! Thanks!
I watch this once a week to begin the weekend with a grin. Maybe someday I'll be able to commission one of these. "Dear Santa, I've been a real good boy..."
Wow, you know your stuff and your passion to revive these old girls ( I call them girls ) is terrific. The manner that you present the finish product with the history the cool models you come across leaves me by the side of the road with two thumbs up as you drive by brother. Much respect.
I can't say enough how much I admire your work especially with the derelicts! I am a huge fan and I think you're a genius. I share your opinion too, the '50 Buick is awsomeI
Love this car, and channel! Thanks so much for the content!! I’ve since finding your channel, all but stopped looking for new cars to fulfill my “dream car” wishes. 😁
It's funny how at the beginning he says that he's doing a professional video and it shows that he turns left... then the next shot is "redone" and he turns right. In all honesty, I love these videos. I recently bought a 50' Super and it needs some help in a couple of spots... wish I could get his help. Awesome work!
My roommate at the U of I in the 50's owned this exact car, even same blue. I remember getting caught in the rain and trying to put up the top and windows at the same time. Hydraulic system died with top half up.
As soon as I cash my winning lottery ticket in I will be winging it from rainy Manchester to your magic making premises in sunny California to purchase one of these custom “derelicts”. And yes I could see the thought bubble over the car you burned off at the end, the guy thinking “ UFO’s HERE ??”
So cool..buddy ...I forgot to close my mouth through out the video....such a beautiful car become lively and so active. It will last for generations...
Another excellent example of the Icon innovative craftsmanship and brilliant execution. I wish I had the means to have a Icon FJ 40 and pick a Derelict to have built to enjoy. The hardest part of owning Icon vehicles is which one to drive. Great job.
I'm sure that these cars will be around for a very long time. It's the best of both worlds, the elegant style of the old cars and the modernity of the mechanicals. These cars are rolling artwork. Congratulations on your vision, and for NOT wrecking these old beautys with unnecessary bodywork. .
the way you've done these over but kept the body style, wow! they should be around for many moons. my uncle had a early 50's roadmaster sedan, my dad was a chevy guy.
The interior looks like the inside of an old hunting lodge. I just want to sit in it with a pipe and a good book... and maybe a pint, after the driving is done for the day.
Icon,, you rock...an extremely well presented video. Your no nonsense approach and real world comment makes me smile. Keep it up. "Vive" the derelict ..
Again, a nice endeavor! In an earlier video (the tour of the ICON facility) you called that two-tone green "Derelict to be" 1948 Pontiac a 1947. I was a little confused, but I took your word for it. My parents owned a two-tone 1948 just like that back in '53 or '54. We moved to California and he traded it to someone in Southern California. It sure brings back memories!
Love these videos and love the cars, such a different approach, almost the ultimate "sleepers" well done, I still think the Silver Cloud has the most appealing sound track though!
i would put you in the same 'class", meaning that as a compliment, as Horacio Pagani. Different vehicles of course but design ethics, attention to detail etc. ....superb. Leoanrdo Da Vinci said "art and science are two disciplines that must walk together hand in hand"...i know Horacio follows that and i sense you do too. All the best from Sydney, Australia.
I agree Jonathan, this one is still my favorite also. The finest leather seats ever. Seriously, the only problem with it is that it's not mine. Please don't stop doing what you do,ever.
I love this car the 50 buick has the greatest waterfall grill I own a 50 chevy business cpe chopped and i looked everywhere for those grill bars ijust for the hell of it had a new Desoto grill for dads merc put it up in my grill section and terrible so glad i didn't find that buick grill it was a fortune saved in my car to much chrome i wound up using the top of a back bumperet off a 51 chevy and it looks like its floating but i didn't c the hood lifting sideways that was also a cool part of your car but anyway its my favorite one yet like a 53 skylark would be nice and that body is amazing im in pa and we have clean cars but that thing just looks sounds and seems to move out great job thanks for sharing
Cool car (as are all the Icons), but it's missing the signature Dynaflow sound. Back in the day, because of the one-speed Dynaflow transmission that relied on the torque converter to act as a continuously-variable transmission, when a Buick took off, it sounded like a motorboat getting underway.
I swear that the Icon builds are the most interesting cars out there. Yeah, we need more EV versions. But stuff like this one cannot be duplicated and they are so streetable :D
I love when you say you Hate seeing a modern steering wheel on an older car. I Totally agree.
what a gorgeous car. I am so glad someone is preserving all those old classics.
Have watched that freeway on-ramp scene a number of times. Always good for a big smile.
Absolutely, James, and Rick, as the Mercedes pilot is still wondering WTF was that rusty rocket? Man, his optic got small in a hurry!
If I win the lottery I am visiting you first! Love these vids.
Im with you there
Ditto
Jonathan, I always love your vehicles, but the interior on this car is above and beyond anything you have done before! Beautiful does not even begin to describe it!
I drink when Johnathan says 'patina'. binge watching.
The interior leathers, carpet, top fabric, and appointments are over the top bespoke. Amazing!
Yes! Thank you!
that is an absolutely gorgeous vehicle! I have always had a special appreciation for vintage automobiles.
One of my favorite builds! I think the Derelicts are such an awesome idea; beautiful vintage and modern tech merging together to make an amazing piece of functional art.
Beautiful job on such a rare classic. Automotive art that works and is reliable. Love the original finish on the car.
you and your crew do such amazing work! I love how you like to keep the old soul of the car and put new life into it
My uncle had a 2 door hard top one of these. It was faded perfect black. Had the antenna in the center of the roof. That car was so old school gangster looking.
I love everything you do at Icon but my personal favorites are the Derelicts. I think that they are a step above everything else from a creativity standpoint.
My fav too! Thx
@@ICON4x4Design keep up the great work! I always look forward to seeing your next masterpiece!
Mr. Ward, anyone that gets tired of your detailed commando videos needs counseling! 👍🏻
I watch all of Jonathan's videos and this one at least 6 times. They never get old. Love your cars. Thank you
If I ever had the money this is where I would go. No Ferrari, no Lambo. This guy is a genius.
I was never able to figure out what this guy meant by end dices when he was talking about the gauges in his various videos. It finally dawned on me that he was just mispronouncing indices (in-duh-seez). Now it makes sense. Absolutely love what Icon is doing with the vehicles, though and would love to own one of these gems some day.
lamao, rof
😃 that is such a nice automobile. That grille and patina plus your work and it’s an artwork. That acceleration at the end 👌
Your cars make me smile, if ever I drive one will grin and drive till my jay aches from laughter
I had a ‘54 Buick 2-door given me in 1967 by a friend of my Dad. Outstanding road car. Bi put in a ne W/S, exhaust and some seat covers before I went into the Marines in ‘68. Thats a classic combined with knowledge and love!!!!!
ahead full, right standard rudder aye thanks for a thrilling ride and a new appreciation for automotive art; a really splendid video, thank you
I wouldn't have thought you could do one of these that I'd want more than the '48 Super, but you did. This thing is freakin gorgeous. Well done, sir.
That guy in the Benz SUV at the top of the freeway entrance at the end is just sitting there like, "... What just happened?"
LOL! It almost looks like the Benz actually stopped. cool
He was probably saying, what the hell was that?!
Benz people had no idea that the body is the only thing that's stock. Basically just got taken down by a ZR1.... that looks like a 50 Buick.
He was wondering where that old convertible went so quickly!
I saw what you mean by the Benz.. I bet the driver was not expecting a launch out of an old rusty car.. er I mean classic relic.
Thank you for contributing what you have to the custom auto industry. You and your team are just fantastic, I really enjoy these videos keep them comming! Thanks!
damn I love this build. Just went back and re watched your vid. Top notch guys !!!
So impressive seeing the care and thought that went into this! Really amazing!
Outstanding work reflecting many years of skill and appreciation of the automobile as art.
That mercedes at the on ramp, just
”WTF did just happen”???
love these old timers with young hearts. You folks make great rides!
I love Roadmasters from the late 40's and early 50's. They're such good looking cars!
I'm not a motorhead at all, but I've played with some old classic cars over the years and really love your videos.
The "patina" does add to the derelict style but I'd still love to see a great paint job on some of your cars.
I watch this once a week to begin the weekend with a grin. Maybe someday I'll be able to commission one of these. "Dear Santa, I've been a real good boy..."
Saw your ad in Hemmings, thanks for sharing this here, and allowing comments too. I love her.
EXCELENT JOB ! love the video ...enjoyed every second !..i love that waterfall buick front grill..
God that was fun thanks for the ride!!
Wow, you know your stuff and your passion to revive these old girls ( I call them girls ) is terrific. The manner that you present the finish product with the history the cool models you come across leaves me by the side of the road with two thumbs up as you drive by brother. Much respect.

Thank-you for doing what you do, I love them.
Absolutely love your derelicts. And your videos are great.
Thank you for taking us with you!
That Buick has one of the all time greatest grilles EVER!!!👍
Love this car, and channel! Thanks so much for the content!! I’ve since finding your channel, all but stopped looking for new cars to fulfill my “dream car” wishes. 😁
Man I love these cars. Each one get's better.
Jonathan, you are a real artisan.
It's funny how at the beginning he says that he's doing a professional video and it shows that he turns left... then the next shot is "redone" and he turns right. In all honesty, I love these videos. Loved the part with a tesla behind him... Two amazingly opposite ends of the automotive spectrum
I especially loved your 90's Caprice update you did.
I just love this concept. Amazing stuff ...
No words to express how satisfy I'm watching good old cars back to life. Thank you John and his team.
you guys are phenomenal
Love the on ramp leaving that Mercedes in the dust
So cool..buddy ...I forgot to close my mouth through out the video....such a beautiful car become lively and so active. It will last for generations...
outstanding piece of work

Scott M Hey Johnathan, how about a Derelict Airstream trailer to go behind that rig?
OMG with the airstream and a babe in a skirt, scarf , tight sweater awesome!
Icon,, you rock...an extremely well presented video. Your no nonsense approach and real world comment makes me smile. Keep it up. "Vive" the derelict ..

Drop dead gorgeous!
Love the interiour of this car!!!
Luv your vids, GREAT car, thx.
holy crap that thing is beautiful
My favorite hands down is the RR. But I love this one too!
I can appreciate the concept, it has a coolness factor but I can't help but think how much this car would be worth restored to original condition.
Considerably less.
Hay this is Bob from moter ring n pen it's good to see you
realmente hermoso tu trabajo. espero realizar un proyecto de esta clase en algun momento de mi vida....congratulations amigo
love them please show more old cars .
Added to my Christmas list.
Love these videos and love the cars, such a different approach, almost the ultimate "sleepers"
well done, I still think the Silver Cloud has the most appealing sound track though!
Oh thanks!
Now I'll be jonesin for one of these beasties all day long!
Totally stunning, thanks!
I would love a chassis and drivetrain like that for my 50 Buick Special Sedanet
i would put you in the same 'class", meaning that as a compliment, as Horacio Pagani. Different vehicles of course but design ethics, attention to detail etc. ....superb.
