- You will learn how to respond to someone in Afrikaans after greeting them.
You will learn how to say good day, how are you doing, I'm fine thanks. When things are not going well you'll learn how to say not good, thanks.
Learn how to say very bad, thank you in Afrikaans.
You'll also see how to respond to someone you are actually also meeting for the first time after greeting them.
Learn further Afrikaans phrases like pleased to meet you, glad to meet you. Say your name and ask the other person what their name is in Afrikaans.
Ask the question Can you speak Afrikaans and respond with yes or no I can't speak Afrikaans.
Learn to say I am from South Africa.
Learn what to say in Afrikaans after a conversation when you are departing for example see you later, until next time, good day further, till next time, till later and enjoy your day.

When I was learning to read and write Afrikaans in OFM Radio's chatroom, people would ask me, "Praat jy die taal?", when they learned I was American. Ek lees en skryf net. I try to listen to Radio Sonder Grense on the Internet to hear how Afrikaans sounds.

I spent a lot of tome in Holland, loved the country, love the people. I found my ear tuned in to Hollands after a day or so, and they could understand Afrikaans more or less. I'd love to go back one day.

Afrikaans blijft me fascineren. Een hele interssante taal. Het gramatiek is een beetje grappig voor een Nederlandstalige spreker. Het is heel phonetisch geschreven hoe wij in Amsterdam praten. Z > S of het weghalen van “L” in het midden van een woord. Soos in Afrikaans wordt dan uitgesproken als soas hoe ik spreek. Heel leuk dit!

Nearly. However a fokkery in Holland makes Saffas giggle.
But why do some write it as "Zuid-Afrika", and others, "Suid-Afrika"? Dialect?
Today we use Suid-Afrika. Z is used in Dutch for the S sound. Due to Anglicization it was changed to S to represent the English pronounciation of the name.
@@YourAfrikaansChannel - Ah, so it was Zuid? The internet domain name for South Africa is .za. I've always thought it was Zuid and Suid was Dutch. It's a bit confusing. 😜
