  • Learn how tenses work in Afrikaans and how to take a sentence in the present tense and change it to a sentence in past and future tense by applying the golden rule of the verb in Afrikaans and the eraser rule to kick the verb to the back of the sentence.
Also add ge to the verb when changing a sentence to the past tense. Is becomes was, sal becomes sou and wil becomes wou in the Afrikaans past tense.

Very interesting! In German we also say "Er war krank" and not "Er war krank gewesen". 👍

In Dutch we have both “Hij was ziek” and “Hij is ziek geweest”. I’m sure there are grammatical rules for this, but nobody knows them because Dutch is really hard. 😅

"Ek het 'n selfoon gehad" = "Ik heb een mobieltje/smartphone gehad" of "ik had een mobieltje/smartphone" in het Nederlands...

Haha, het is al even moeilijk dan het Nederlands. Hoe mensen het kunnen leren, ik snap het niet …😵‍💫
