“We’ve gravitated away from reality”... how very true that statement is on absolutely every issue facing our society nowadays.
I would also say that startup culture is toxic in tech.
A lot of founders have this mentality that because they programmed an application/service they should be responsible for ... Everything. Even things outside their subject area: I've seen startups fail like this.
Also some tech people do this weird Steve jobs thing... I'm sure many of you have seen it. They dress up and act like him in a way that's very artificial.

The notion of splitting again here you bring up so key in regard to the direction of society. This element of deterioration is so stark its down right startling. It makes a lot of sense in US history that break between the 20's and 30's right after the great depression that the banking system became an active agent in the system.
I personally had an experience with someone who deluded themselves into believing the digital was realty. Full virtual economic disaster on their part. From what I understand they were unable to pay the last months rent after I left, with 2 months notice. This will only get worse, you already see it with virtual concerts and virtual neighborhoods where celebrities "buying property" in the Metaverse. I honestly don't understand its appeal. No better than these ridiculous NFTs.🙄😮💨
As for old narcissistic relationships...
I now understand that what I did to move past them was called Individuation (I gotta be spelling this wrong, sorry if so) which unfortunately came with some bad therepists followed by a lot of work and then a lot more trauma and continued work and Individuation. I'm a work in progress- but knowing it is a big part of healing. Thanks for the clarity you provide.

If I may , have you considered a adictive side of Narcissism, or a neurological conditioning that happens or better, distortion in reward fedback loop as a adaptation to distorted value system.
