    Getting hit by a hurricane...in the middle of October... In a country where the waters are normally cold. I thought I had bad luck.

      Might not be normal for a hurricane to track that far north, but Ireland and the UK are not strangers to storms like that, they happen every year from September through till March/April.

    People should be allowed to enjoy the natural entertainment of storm force winds, with Nanny state authorities curtailing their frequent tendency to baby sit mature adults. If swimmers want to dice with death in Salthill in tidal waves, that is their prerogative, and rescue services shouldn't rescue those who may not wish to be rescued.

    wow, i didn't know Hurricane Ophelia took a 90 degree right hand turn and blasted Ireland . I didn't know Ireland was that close to the northeast US either . Or did Ophelia just pick up and speed "across the pond " ?!
