I love that Kel;, as a Maiden-newbie, recognizes the kick-ass HARRIS bass-play!!!
Remember Tomorrow from same album 🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤟🤘🤘🤘🤘🤟
Guys, I love how you are taking the Iron Maiden path with such passion. There are plenty of Maiden songs I'd like you to react to, and one of them is Caught Somewhere in Time. I hope you can react to that one soon and keep up that feeling! Greetings from Chile, you now have a new subscriber.
This was our first LIVE reaction, so it felt way different. I agree about the studio version first but for this one, we wanted to go to LIVE to see. THANK YOU FOR THE KEEN EYE on this. 100% agree.
@@Kel.N.RichReactions I don't know what that had to do with my comment but thanks for the reply!
@@matiasdimter619 They get so many responses I think sometimes their replies get a little mixed up.
Steve Harris is the best metal bass guitarist IMO.
Jay Hardwick IMO:
1. Cliff Burton
2. Geezer Butler
3. Steve Harris
your opinion is spot on!
O melhor , sempre
The best version is live at The rainbow 1981 with Paul di Anno and Clive Burr on drums .
Amen to that!
Hell yeah man. The B-side of Women in Uniform single is the truth!
with out a doubt
That concert was a masterpiece in Maiden’s history.
@bionic man Nah Clive's drumming is irreplaceable. No disrespect to Nicko but Clive's drumming was more groovy and unique.
No it is LIve after Death. Live as in Live because it was a Live show, and I was there at the concert
Lucky guy!
Thomas Williams correct, so glad I had this stuff growing up
Live after death wasn't one concert though, it was a mix of different venues.
Fun fact, this is not an interpretation of the Opera. This was actually a book in the early 1900's based in France. There were two early movie adaptations, in a spooky movie style. Maiden wrote this song and it was released in 1980, based off the book. The opera by Webber didn't come out til 1986
And just to say lady Gaga is big Maiden fan, and she said on one interview, everybody says that I'm new madona, NO! I gonna be new iron Maiden XD and she was on Maiden show and she says that she can't believe how band is connected to audience and that energy when Maiden hit the stage to the very last song, and she was totally right... Love and peace ✌
Please do Iron Maiden - The Nomad, it's just perfect for you.
Halta yes do it
2 minutes to midnight, dance of death, brave new world. The back catalogue of this band is endless. You guys remind me of what it was like to have my mind blown by this band. ENJOY!
A bit of trivia for you all. The intro for this song was used in an advert for lucazade back in the 1980s. Featuring the athlete Daley Thompson.
I'm sure it was used for the Grand Prix racing coverage around the same time too!
The album version is insane too with paul di'anno's mean vocals. I like it better. Maiden is best pure heavy metal band of all time imo!! Try the trooper for kel and try aces high, wrathchild, children of the damned, powerslave, flash of the blade, strange world, remember tomorrow, deja vu, the clairvoyant and basically 90 percent of the first 5 albums.
Yes children of the damned!
Deja Vu! yeah
This is my favorite song -Yes, the change - a masterpiece - I love it! ♥ To Tame a Land is a great song too.
This was originally done by the first singer (Paul DiAnno) who done the first 2 albums before Bruce Dickinson took over. Loving watching you guys discover Maiden
And isn't this one Blaze? Sounds soooo close to Bruce's voice!
@@cookmoore3736 No its Bruce
Hey guys, 46 year old man and bought my first heavy metal album in 1983 at age of 11 and it was Iron Maiden Number of the Beast. I remember how I loved it and forever was a metal fan with great respect for the talent. i saw the excitement I felt in those early years while watching your videos. For those bitchers remember if you want to listen to the song then turn it on and not a reaction video. Enjoy the excitement of it as I felt so many years ago. There is people who will complain no matter what you do but I want the excitement back yu had with the first videos.
Steve's bass lines are fabulous, so underrated.
I love the way kal looks at him burning holes in his head lol. Great cupple x
All reactors go to the live version when it comes to my most favorite Maiden songs! Phantom Of The Opera, Dance Of Death... I firmly believe first reaction to ALMOST any song should be the studio version. For this one the sound quality and tones are more impactful and fulfilling, the vocals suit Dianno more, the solos are better in the studio version. I know it's not your fault, I wish people stopped requesting live versions as a 1st time reaction.
This was our first LIVE reaction, so it felt way different. We had so many requests and 'demands' to hear one live. I agree about the studio version first but for this one, we wanted to go to LIVE to see. THANK YOU FOR THE KEEN EYE on this. 100% agree.
@@Kel.N.RichReactions Yeah, bummer that it had to be my favorite song but I understand. Please, at least try the original studio version on your own time :)
Unless its the live version of any song from rock in Rio 😆 you cant go wrong with that concert
@@ruthlesskumquat2918 Sorry but I still don't agree. Yes, it's a great concert but I still prefer studio versions for a 1st time listening/reaction, except maybe only for Fear Of The Dark.
@@astragalusson I think the sign of the cross in Rock in Rio is faaaaar better than the studio version with blaze Bailey. What they did with that song in that concert is turn an otherwise overlooked maiden song into a masterpiece. Not to mention daves solo in that live version is incredible.
Lady Gaga is actually a huge mauden fan! When asked if she wanted to be the next madonna she replied "no, i want to be the next iron maiden" look it up there afe even pics of her and nicko online. Please check out the maiden b side reach out with guitarist Adrian smith on vocals
That entire original Iron Maiden album is a masterpiece. This version has Bruce on the vocals, but Paul Di'Anno is the lead singer on the album, and he has a much gruffer, punk sound. Both are amazing. In fact, this song is what led to Bruce wanting to join the band.
Live! Yeah, its frigging live! How great are they
Prodigal Son from the album "Killers"
Love You guys, from Portugal with love ❤️❤️❤️
We must admit that the return of Bruce & Adrian saved IM😉
Definitely and thank god they came back
I used to roadie for a metal band back in the 80’s Called Deep Machine the Guitarist and Bass Player warmed up playing this
Iron Maiden - The Red And The Black (The Book Of Souls: Live Chapter)
Ryley yesss
Iron Maiden is the most MUST SEE LIVE bands out there. Plus a lot of their songs are better live than the studio versions.
Consider that this song is from their debut album ! Who writes a song like that out of the starting blocks. I'm 54 now, been listening to Maiden since I was twelve and this is the song that hooked me, ok and Running Free. Love your channel, keep 'em coming.
Fun fact: the studio version of this was used in a Lucosade advert in the UK in 1988 with decathlete Daley Thompson sprinting towards the camera.
This was the first Iron Maiden song I heard as a teenager. Me and my best friend Ian were talking about this for ages. It was so radically different as Punk was king at the the time. This was Bruce singing but he wasn’t in the band when recorded.
Live After Death live versión!!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘btw ir you react to Rime Of The Ancient Mariner...please be the versión from Live After Death tour, for me is the best versión...
You are so right. Actually, all songs on that album are my favorite versions.
Just found this channel, awesome!!!! You gotta do Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Revelations and Moonchild!! All great Maiden songs!!
rjacamargo they have already done the full seventh son album.
@@SuperClarky666 I know, I wrote this 2 weeks ago, before they made the Seventh Son video
One of the greatest things about Maiden is the way the two (now three) guitarists work together.
Harmonizing !!! Mastered , Dave and Adrian
Studio version is Dave Murray with Dennis Stratton.
@@MrOfermod im aware, just prefer dave and adrian
That versión is from Live After Death double album on Vinyl...
"Live" like alive. it's a live album. So the songs were played live after Eddie's death and being entombed like a pharoah in the pyramid. Live After Death was recorded on the heels of the Powerslave album (the tour supporting the Powerslave album)
I was at this gig at the Hammy Odeon in 84!!
I recommended the live version because I personally like it better with Bruce Dickinson singing it better than their original singer Paul Di'Anno (on their first 2 studio albums, Killers and Iron Maiden). Di'Anno's version is just different .... GOOD ... but different. I like the fuller sound from the live versions years after the studio version and with Bruce singing. Guessing MANY people will prefer the Di'Anno version ... but it's all good. Glad you liked the version that I fell in love with back in 1985 from the Live After Death live recording.
I am one of the biggest fan of Bruce Dickinson and I know he is way way way better than Di anno but this song belongs to di anno and the studio version is sick.
Was gonna say this sounded exactly identical to the version from Live After Death.. which was confusing due to the title of the reaction indicating 1998.. so this is a remaster, made in 1998, of the version from the Live After Death album.. and not a performance from 1998, remastered lol.
If anything Paul Di Anno deserves some well deserved attention, probably the most underrated singer in heavy metal.
@@nickkraitor6560 I think nobody will disagree with that. Paul Di Anno however brought a rough edge to his sound, while Bruce is more operatic and theatrical. I prefer Di Anno, but then again he probably couldn't have sang many of the songs Bruce sang.
I like to piss on yer parade, but can't. I do like Pauls better. But you gave your opinion too good. Horns up mate!
Just to make sure we are on the same page with the date... it was recorded on October 1984 and re-released on 1995 and remastered in 1998.
If into vocals you have to tap into Rob Halford - Judas Priest & Ronnie James Dio - Dio , Rainbow , Black Sabbath
PaPaDew 1968 shut the fuck up man ........
PaPaDew 1968 Tony Martin man. Fucking crazy. My favorite singer after dio
This track is Maiden's first great epic song from many others to follow disc after disc... timeless masterpiece!!!
3 sugestions of iron maiden songs .
- 22 acacia avenue
-children of the damned
-to tame a land
arnaldo tanta to tame a land is faaaaaaantastic!!!
To tame a land is one that they need to do for sure.
This is one song I could never master on the bass. I bow to the master, Steve Harris.
Still after one year i ask myself: why this version and not the original one?
This was part of a massive ad campaign when I was a kid so mid 70's early 80's for the Lucozade energy drink. It was my intro to Iron Maiden
Amazing version
Judas priest - Freewheel burning 🔥
Iron Maiden, How many songs you can put in one?
Iron Maiden: Yes.
Empire of the clouds...epic
For Kel ..... Dreaming (Tell Me) by Yngwie. The ultimate power ballad.
Que dire…!!!! groupe magique. bonne réaction. bonne vidéo… BRAVO! continuez
Amazing amazing song love and that you guys love Maiden they are the greatest👍👍👍👍
The best version, and live no less.
How about Nightwish Phantom of the Opere (live End of an Era).
bravo kel bravo!!! ur xplanation is great!
Phantom Of the Opera is such an Iron Maiden classic. Just like Hallowed Be Thy Name. This version is extended from the original studio version and even the original live version because now they have 3 guitarists. That is so all 3 have a solo. Back then, they only had 2. I so love when the guitars harmonize like they almost always do in Maiden's songs. Would you please react to their song When the Wild Wind Blows from their 2010 album The Final Frontier?
Just discovered your channel. Liking what I hear so far. Just subbed. So this song is actually off their first studio album in 1980. "Live" after death is their first live concert release. The original singer Paul di'anno was fired after their 2nd album. Number of the beast is the first album with Bruce Dickenson. Whom later left for a few years to go solo and other progects. Replaced by blaze bayley from 94 - 99. Thank God Bruce came back. You really need to do a live reaction. I noticed you don't show the vids on screen so that would be great. You will appreciate how great they really are seeing them live. I would suggest FEAR OF THE DARK live rock n Rio. . Insane how pricise and good they are live. Better than the studio version in most cases. Anyway sorry for the length of this. I'm just passionate about maiden. I'm 47 and listened to them right from jump.
UP THE IRONS !!!!!
This used to be on a Lucozade Advert with Daley Thompson .... first time I ever heard anything like it. This is ALL Picked ... the timing is incredible....
Just found your channel. You guys planning on doing any Rush??
This is actually the Live After Death version recorded in 1985 at Long Beach Arena during the World Slavery Tour.
It's from Live After Death... "Live" as in a live performance.
Transylvania. Some of the best riffs in metal
Up the IRONS!!!
If you guys enjoyed firstly classic old Maiden from 1980/81 and the Streets of the East End of London AND live versions. Id recommend you check out their first ever live release MAIDEN JAPAN , a four track EP (5 tracks in some countries)...its live, raw, and showed how Maiden were in the beginning 🤘🤘🤘🤘
H
their concert staples are Trooper, Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, Blood Brothers... Hallowed be thy name has been retired due to a copyright issue that Steve doesn't want to fight over
They are playing it on there latest tour so its still in set list
I saw that in a video.... they had been leaving it off the last couple tours...
@@WrathchildNH I know the show I saw last was on the book of souls tour and they didn't play it its on the new one tho have you heard that they are rumored to be making a new album right now can't wait for it
long as Nicko's up for it and Bruce can still sing why not
Live at The Rainbow with Di'Anno on vocals is the best.
" Live " After Death rhymes with chive or jive lol. Because it's a "live" album
I was a little confused at that title?? You said Live After Death which was a live album from the Powerslave tour at Long Beach Arena 1985, 1998? Hammersmith Odeon in London? would have been too small a venue plus Bruce Dickinson wasn't with them then?? He left in 94' and rejoined in 99' I think what you were listening too was Live at Hammersmith 1983! I also picked up on Kel saying I love what they've done with it?? Maybe I misunderstand but this is an Iron Maiden song? It was on their 1st album self titled circa 1980, Paul Di'Anno.. I got it! The double CD was 2 show's the CD was remastered and released in 1998! The actual show (Hammersmith) was in 1983! And Long Beach 1985, Little bit of digging added some clarity! :)
You guys are great! Moonchild or Infinite Dreams (studio versions) from the Seventh Son album please \m/
davidg0901 they have all ready done the whole album. About3 weeks ago.
You two would love Maiden’s To Tame A Land.
I was thinking exactly the same thing - "To Tame a Land" makes a great follow-up for this song!
i cried
You gotta do the studio version of the song with the original Maiden singer...
Strange world is awesome too !
Prodigal Son, from the 2nd album. Underrated, but such an awesome song.
We.Love U !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you guys picked it ... album version does not compare to this live version. As per the norm, you guys should check out "The Clansman". Even though it's not Bruce singing, Blaze does a good job with it.
Maiden 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Do Running Free off first album with Paul DiAnno on vocals
#Sepultura - Desperate Cry 1990 - old good stuff
Seventh son of a Seventh son, hands down you ll be blown away by its brilliance
I first heard this live in 1980 on the Metal for Muthas tour.
Love your vids!!! But, please do tell, what's up with the geigh hat?
The best version is Live At Ullevi, Sweden
Iron maiden wid dreams really a great song
React to Seventh son of a Seventh son... You'll be amazed (even more 😉)
I actually recommend the first two albums (Iron Maiden and Killers) original and studio with Paul Di’anno. I love Bruce Dickinson, but the two first albums were separate and something special on their own.
Eh... "Live" as in live performance (concert). This song is NOT actually part of The Phantom Of The Opera (the musical) but rather about the story, which pre-dates the musical. The Nightwish one was actually a cover of the title track from the play itself. Lot of great songs on Iron Maiden's debut self-titled album. I'm new to the channel, so I don't know if it was already done, but I recommend either Remember Tomorrow or Strange World. Both are fantastic songs from the first album.
I was actually about to suggest the Nightwish Phantom of the opera when you mentioned it. It's actually a more direct reworking of the Andrew Lloyd Webber song, but like the best possible version that certainly I've come across.
Judas Priest : Victim of Changes /Painkiller
Remember these guys were only about 22 when they recorded this
That was 1980.
@@rohantiwari7801 Actually March 82 this was recorded. Was originally out April 80 so they were about 22 ish
@@neonknight1198 this was not recorded in 82
@@rohantiwari7801 When then ?
@@neonknight1198 1985.
iron maiden - strange world (u guys are amazing)
just heard you wont do growls... pity.. but here is a beautiful OPETH song with clean vocals.... A FAIR JUDGEMENT live at SHEPHERDS BUSH
Opeth coming. We will ease into it so Kel doesn't jump out. Good suggestions. THANK YOU !!!!
Not too shabby for their first album effort, right? 🙂 The band agrees that the essential Maiden were already there, particularly in this song, much thanks to Harris of course.
Iron Maiden is touring the U.S. this year and, unfortunately, may be one of the last chances to see them. I have a feeling that they may follow the same path Rush took and retire soon while they're still able to put on top notch shows.
I like Paul di'Anno but it'd be cool if they re-recorded the first two albums with Bruce as singer! I'd get both versions.
Soterion Coil I bet Paul would love it if they re-recorded the first two albums with Bruce. The royalties going to Paul would make him do backflips all day long. 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Listen to the song powerslave.
Actually it's Live as in a live album
Dream Theater - Blind Faith (the middle section is heavenly)
Periphery - Erised (featuring John Petrucci)
Pink Floyd - Sorrow (guaranteed eargasm)
#painintheask ! Love it. We won't do Floyd yet...
this is the best live version, Phantom of the opera its simply amazing.
I recommend, Phantom of the Opera live at download 2o13.
