- David Goggins holds down a desk job, but he's also a Navy SEAL who runs and bikes ultramarathons to raise money for the Warrior Foundation. We caught up with him for a quick interview to hear about some of his biggest accomplishments.
David Goggins is based in San Diego, California, and is both an ultramarathon runner and ultracyclist. Some of his best known athletic efforts include the Badwater 135, the Grapevine 48 Hour National Championships, cycling challenges of over 500 miles at a time, and the Infinitus 88K. Goggins talks about his daily routine, which includes a typical 3:00 a.m. wakeup time, and his incredibly tough workout regimen (with 4-8 hours of cycling each day alone).

2021: he still looks the same. Goggins doesn’t age, age goggins
Was thinking the same thing 😂
@@fomalhaut7722 running is supposed to make your skin looser and make you look older usually haha.
@@mireaaa sounds stupid. why would you say something like that? you have experience in this?
2022 now
U DONT KNOW ME SON
this man does not age.
I think he actually gets younger
😂😂😂
Exercise is anti-aging.
Time slows down when Goggins runs. Even time knows when to stop. Respect for Goggins. Keep taking Souls
This video is 13 years old LOL
This guy is legit! Shout out to all who are watching this is 2018-19
David has come a long way in the past decade. Bless his heart.

This is unbelievable...
I have the utmost respect for this man. I started working out 8 months ago after 27 years of doing nothing but
drinking, smoking an playing video games... I wasted so many years on this shit but I want to turn my life around. I have made some progress and I am happy with the results so far... Even though I wish progress would come a bit faster, but still, I'm happy so far.
This man motivates me to keep on going and improving myself.
Norman J Improve at all?
Yeah I was doing pretty much the same, just going to work then doing gaming and I was just getting depressed and I didn't really know why, then I started playing basketball again, then started Tennis, then that spark turned into a roaring fire and now I'm doing 5 days sport and gym, 8 hours sport one day, and I'm probably the happiest I've ever been, everyone should do some physical activity of some sort, gamings still ok but just as a hobby
Norman J I think the secret to all this is to enjoy the grind
Hope you still there bud!
how old r u then? I am doing fitness now 5 days a week, but also did kickboxing and jogging and many other things, important exercises that will change ur life: rebounder jumping, 5 Tibetan Rites, Wim Hof method, and also Brazilian jiu jitsu, check out Shaolin kung fu and breathing exercises like NAVY SEALS training Mark divine and some other cool things like Sauna and steamroom ! doing so many things! also thanx 2 motivation of David Goggins, also check out Dean Karnazes ultra marathon and Wim Hof the iceman ! it doesnt stop !!! we can do 20x more then we think! Marik Divine Sealfit!
I would not want to fight him. His cardio is unreal.
Mujahid Ali he fights you for 48 hours straight.
You better knock him out or you're fucked! xD
The most complete human being ever born, he is the toughest human alive, I never had anyone to look up to, but he changed that, for me this is a real success, thank god someone like this is here among us, he shows that everything is possible. Thank you David, you changed my life.
instead of worrying about what he is or what he's not just look at his achievements. i think he is a determined, tenacious individual with a great future no matter what he chooses.
Surpassed every limit!
This guy changed my life. I'm 41 playing the best football of my life. I'm fitter than 15 years ago and I was quiet fit..
When you've got two hours to spare listen to JRE's David Goggins podcast, the first one. You won't regret it.
Any podcast with Goggins is well worth it
WTF. This must be the guy Chuck Norris calls when he has a problem.
Sam Sosa 👍👍 😂😂😂
Sam Sosa Bet he comes running everytime.
Fact!
LOL. I love this sentence :-) Gj
Yeah he's the guy that Chuck call he's a SEAL who has conquered everything.
"Some buddies of mine died in Afgan.." He's talking about Operation Redwing. The account told by Marcus Lutrell in "Lone Survivor." Goggins is in the same Seal Team as Marcus' brother.
U know your stuff
MR.X are you still alive?
@@cellardoor199991 legend 😂
@@cellardoor199991 does it feel weird replying back to a comment after 10 years 😀
@@cellardoor199991 i think thats the first time i see someone commenting back to a comment he wrote 11 years ago
Very hard to believe this man was once 290 lbs. with how great of shape he's in. He's given me a lot of inspiration to increase the intensity in my workouts and start running longer distances.
greekatso was he 290
Not a fat 290 though, he was previously a powerlifter.
He has the before pictures. You can see them online. This mans drive is legendary
@@joelabraham3820he was fat, just not morbidly obese.
David is such an incredible person.
You cant believe all the things he did and then some random videos show up that show him do even more than the things he mentioned. What an inspiration this guy is, cant even describe it
4 years in the Air Force, and few years , 290-pound Goggins stood in a Navy recruiting center saying he wanted to become a SEAL. HE was told that a man of his stature would never make it through. Two months of intense dieting and exercise later, Goggins stood in the same recruiting office at 190 pounds. Goggins was forced through the SEAL(s)’ infamous hell week twice, but finally achieved his goal in 1998.
he went through hell week three times in 12 months.
@@TheHypernaught 18 months*
DAMN talk about being early to the story. Fast forward 10 years and you'll hear thousands say Goggins changed their life more than anyone
Face of a warrior.
10 year is a long time
Man... ive been watching these videos for TRUE inspiration. Although i have found them TRUELY inspirational NOW through this video I learned that David was 290 lbs. Up to 2009 I was 360 and in BAD shape. Now I run marathons, train people with weights and running, and am a Motivational speaker. I know EXACTLY what David felt like and to an extent what he feels like now. Some day, any time, any where I would love to meet him!!!!!
Just curious to know if you’ve maintained that life, or if you slacked off a bit since then?
True, how you doing now?
WHOSE GONNA CARRY THE BOATS AND LOGS!!!
me
he looks exactly the same in 2021.fucking legend and one of the biggest motivation of all time. oss
This is so intense,to the point, i love it,goggins been slaying it since long ago.
"Im not addicted at all" you can see the suffering in his eyes just a touch clearer in these older videos. Just an unbelievable character
Goggins has said this is the worst mistake people see in him. His eyes are not suffering. He is the most amazing man alive in the world.
VERY NICE OBSERVATION
I swear goggins took this guys soul by the end of it with all his answers
Watching in Feb 2021...what a legend! He changed my life. Stay hard!
It's 2023, and people getting goosebumps watching this, CUZ WE ALL KNOW WHO GOGGINS IS!
So intrigued by this guy.
I watch these and I think that the people interviewing him, often, they just dont get it. The Spec ops stuff, the training ,the racing, the mental commitment...It is all so beyond normal people. Goggins is hard.
It is not beyond normal people at all, what bullcrap. There is nothing special about Goggins except for his discipline and commitment. Once you have conquered yourself and are disciplined you can embark on the training, stick to it, consistency is all, and become fit enough to push yourself to the absolute limits. Every human being is capable of this. You work at it, it is not god given. The discipline is the hardest to master and many people fail on that alone.
TheHypernaught true people think he has that naturally. Goggins did all that with a hole in his heart. He had even 2 heart surgerys and that didnt stop him. I hate when People say its his genetics etc. It is just hard work ,determination and slaying your inner demons
TheHypernaught
"There is nothing special about Goggins"
$1000 says you won't post videos of yourself doing as much as he does, for just one week! There's a reason he's called the baddest man on the planet. There's a reason there is only one of him. Keep telling yourself you're special though, snowflake.
Yeah they hear the term bad water 135 and the explanation but it doesn’t process that very few people in the world could finish that race despite working their whole lives for it and it’s just one of his achievements. The mans determination and mental strength are out of this world
still hard in 2022!
He is a metahuman
David is the best inspiration we can ask for.
Guy is absolutely incredible.
It is beyond badass that David does this!
Thanks Mr. Goggins! We love you!
Such an inspiration!
Dude is sick!!!! Thanks for inspiring us D
did he say 500 miles on cycle non stop !!! wow.
Every time I think that what I've done is enough, I watch this video and do an extra bonus set.
You inspire me even at my age.
Watching in Dec 2020👊🏾
Goggins actually looks younger now in 2021. Time doesn't age Goggins, Goggins ages time.
Bless him and stay hard.
David Goggins is SuperHuman, zero limits what so ever My Hero
Nice way to end video. "That's none stop"
Crazy to see this
From 1:05 . Damn that's so inspirational, no BS straight up brutal work
Thank you Goggins, you make me want to be a better man everyday.
My struggle is more with my mind than my body. And I'll take any motivation I can, anyday.
Can you say Spartan. This guy is awe inspiring.
I admire anyone who runs these distances, I was not saying anything to runners, I was saying I couldnt do this and someone on this video called me lazy and fat so I replied back to them...keep up with what ever your into!
Watching in 2021❤️❤️❤️
HERO!
OH MY GOD....this guy is amazing.....to bad we don't have everyone in the mlitary as fit as he is....the US DOD would be unstoppable
Lots of love sir🙏🏻💖☠😊

Very admirable. It would be nice for the government to also help out more with these families. Best of Luck in RAAM.

Thats incredible right.
After 10 year’s he still hasn’t changed haha wtf
HARD... CORE...
Ok, thanks. Hooyah!
All I can think is, with all the intense work that he does how did he find the time to do this interview. Or do anything else other than working out.
2020!
1999 - Working at an ecolab, weighing 300 pounds.
2010 - Getting interviewed for being one of the FIttest Real Athletes.
He Is legend
@knpdyeballarice Correct. Only Special Forces are the Green Berets. All others are Special Operations...I don't personally understand it and there's alot of debate about it.
Well, now it's gonna pop up on everyones recommendations
if you have him as a father i couldn't unfortunately say that my father is stronger than yours
I would not want that to be my father cuz he would never be around. Props for all hes accomplished but not good as a parent
@cellardoor199991 Special Forces and Special Ops are something that are often mistaken for being 2 separate things. Spec Ops, or Special Operations are the activities and duties that the Special Forces perform. Rangers are considered special forces because they have specialized training. Same thing with SEALs or Air Force Rescue Jumpers. Green berets are just the elite of the special forces, same thing with Seal Team 6 and 1st SFOD-D or Delta Force. Take it from a SEAL.
This man hasn't aged in 12 years
HOOYAAHH
On The Joe Rogan podcast talked about how anxious he was and is and how he's dealing with his anxieties I can see major improvements from this video to the present
LOOK! IS HIM!
2022
David goggins i listened to ur joe rogan podcast today, jeeeeezusss christ ur a fuckin weapon son. Im in awe
David before the money
this is insane
How do you donate
500 hundred miles!! Holyshit
I'm trying to change my life to be the best, I would love to see my comment after 5 years of blood and sweat.
Thank you goggins for helping.
Good luck
Seriously that looked like something !!
Does someone know where this picture was taken in San Diego?
The first time I've seen him not either shirtless or in workout gear. Glad Goggins don't have to have another job now
Fucking beast.
Imagine if he started stretching back then…. Amazing how much NOT stretching held him back, and he didn’t even realize it .
Oh my gosh... I had not even considered that. Imagine if he had proper nutrition and training the day he broke his feet. Wow...
Yh, clearly it would help. But don’t know if you guys noticed. He was working a full time job. He didn’t have the time.
@cellardoor199991 yea he said he weighed 290 lbs before... but NOT in 2005 he never said the words "in 2005 i started triathlons AND weighed 290 lbs"
So your kinda addicted to it now hahaha. No, not addicted to it at all. Priceless
The realist
I agree about the first part but thats a broad generalization on athletes
GOGGINS
@reckokicker he said that he started triathlons and all that in 2005 not that he weighed that much
eh I had to qualify so I just ran 100 miles a few days later....
I don't know wif you still on this YT account, but maybe you noticed he has been trending lately. If you haven't seen his interview on Impact Theory I suggest you check it out, to see how easy it was for him xD
Damn, 11 years…
@dmulwee213 , And he competed in (not just ran, but competed) in a 100 mile race at that weight. He had broken some bones in his feet and if I remember correctly had kidney failure during that race. But, he still finished.
How did you hear about this story before the booK?
he's a warrior, not an athlete, there is a difference. athletes are overpaid and underworked.
One of the best comments-
HONESTY . This video is 14 years old, above anything this guy is 100% real. Love this guy and people might not actually can put finger WHY HES FAMOUS? he's famous to show everyone life is hard, BUT KNOWING GOOGGINS is enough that you can break the shackle of mediocrity in ANYTHING you do. ANYTHING. 😮
14 years ago... Jeez...
3 in the morning to 8 , holy shit!
@Jazoonify so much
290 POUNDS?!!!! That's fucking 132 kilos! Holy shit he was LARRRRRRRRRRRRRGE!
Anyone know what his full time job was/is specifically?
He was a Navy Seal full time for 17 years
I think he could have been a recruiter at the time.
2020?
"and thats nonstop?" nonstop....
He ran 123.5 miles through the death valley desert. =O
